So far no new 2.0 moves for Tsubaki just based on the new movelist. Changes are highlighted with a pink box. Location tests are August 7th - 10th.

However, a universal change is that everyone's super will now be enhanced in OD. This means Tsubaki's Blade Super will get an OD version.

2.0 Changes

- Blade Super enhanced in OD. Can be viewed here.

Loketest 1:

- 6C no longer jump cancellable.

- j.214D is an overhead

- 236D now act the same as 236C as in it doesn't cross over.
- 421D now is similar to Carl's fireball, or like Jin's old C fireball.
- Charged 22B does not slide
- 2C and 2CC floats opponent more, IAD combos do not work.
- j.C less untech time
-5A > 2B connects on crouching (5A is higher in level, 2B is faster, or both)
-5A > 5BB > 5CC > 6B doesn't combo full in this path, (crouch hit), need to remove one gatling for this to combo.
-C super now acts like her D version in overdrive, he does say there is a follow up.
-236C into 214B is difficult.

Confirmed changes (seen here):

-236C crosses over, crumples on hit. Has faster startup?

-236D has advantage on guard. Does not pass through opponent.

-214D jump-cancelable on hit (not on follow-up version)

-Follow-up and Normal versions of special attacks count as separate moves (Same Move Proration does not appy).

-421D is slower

-Charged 22B does not cause slide on knockdown

-j.236A > j.214X no longer sends the opponent flying, and causes knockdown.

Collapsed: General game system changes:

Bursts now regenerate instead of preset number of bursts per match like in Continuum Shift. Using Break Burst completely depletes the OD gauge. Startup is faster.
- Gold Burst replaced with Overdrive. Overdrive can be used with A+B+C+D when not blocking or taking damage. Temporarily powers up certain abilities. While activated, the timer countdown is stopped, and DDs have altered animations and properties. OD duration is inversely proportional to health, and canceling into OD activation reduces the active duration.
  
  After use, 3/4 of the OD gauge is depeleted and the OD icon becomes unusable. The OD gauge recovers with time, and OD can again be used once it has fully recovered. The OD icon starts as usable in Round 1, and carries over to successive rounds without recovering. Both players can go into OD at the same time if it is available to them.
  - Combos done while in Overdrive are un-burstable.
    - Guard Primers removed, replaced with Crush Trigger. Press 5A+B to perform an attack that can break your opponent's guard unless they're using Barrier. On Barrier Block, a large portion of the Barrier Gauge is drained, and the attacker can charge the Crush Trigger to drain more of the Barrier Gauge. Amount of barrier gauge depeleted varies between characters. Crush Triggers costs 25% Heat.
      - Air/Ground teching is now done by holding A/B/C input (like P4U) instead of mashing it.
        Astral Heat (AH) conditions changed. You only need to have your opponent at low health and have 100 heat now. You do not need a burst or OD to use it.
        Hitstop has been lessened and combos are intended to be shorter/faster.
        Repeat proration is more severe, and "same attack combo" appears on the screen when repeat proration is applied. Starter affects the amount of time you have to combo with.
        When you enter Negative Penalty your barrier gauge will automatically be reduced to zero. It will automatically begin to regenerate like normal when you exit out of negative penalty.

Gameplay Profile

Health: 11,000~

Movement Options: 1 Double Jump/Airdash, Running Dash, Can charge-cancel certain moves

Drive: Install - Pressing 5D, 2D, or j.D will cause her to “charge” her install meter. Holding the button on 5D, 2D, or j.D will cause charging to accelerate at a specific rate. She can only hold a maximum of 5 charges at any time during a round and any left over charges will not be carried to the next round.

Overdrive: Second Install - Automatically recovers charges for as long as OD lasts when activated.

Playstyle: Rush-down, mix-up, being able to manage your resources (especially charges) well. Gaining and using charges effectively is key to being successful with Tsubaki.

1. Where can I find Tsubaki's colors?

II. Gameplay-related FAQ

1. What happens when you combine Tsubaki's Overdrive and Mugen?

Mugen overrides OD but OD makes mugen drain slower.

2. Is Tsubaki better in CP?

Short answer, yes. She has a command grab which strengthens her mixup and a projectile and new super which aids her neutral game and oki. She deals more damage and the addition of crush triggers has helped in making her damage more consistent. However, she is a little more difficult to use in this iteration.

3. How do I get 6C > j.D > j.C to combo?

You need to try to delay the 5C slightly because of the recovery of j.C. Most of the time if you input 5C too fast, it won't come out. Also cancel the jump immediately with j.D, if you are too high it will obviously won't combo. Note that it doesn't work against standing opponents and you need them while they are airbourne with 6C in order for this to work. Furthermore, using this from an air throw is character specific so please check out the combo thread for further details.

Hi. You can ask me anything Tsubaki related (whether it's really about me using the character, the character herself, the forum etc) and I'll answer it as best as I can. I don't mind if the questions deviate slightly but you guys generally know how I feel about that.

I started this thread because I hope to 'fill in missing gaps' as there may be areas which no one has touched on. Not only will the answers help you bu they could also help others out there who may have shared a similar idea. I reckon it's also going to be easier to share my thoughts with you guys in a public environment. I do feel like there are a few questions people would like to ask me.

If this thread doesn't work I'll bomb it, but no harm in trying as I do feel that this can be productive for everyone. It's the chance to understand me a little better, but it'll also help you understand more about Tsubaki and maybe help you in what steps you can make to level up in BB. I am aware the Q&A thread isn't used so often, but I wanted to make something which was a little more specific to me y'know.

Anyway, this is a WIP so let's see how this goes. Shoot.

I was just planning on being lazy and leaving the other combo discussion but thought it'd be better to actually just have a new thread so we can all get a fresh new start~ and no one has posted in the other thread in about four months.

I'm pretty excited to see what people come up with especially since we have new tools at our disposal. Some of the more basic BnBs still work but our more advanced ones have either changed (drastically) or appear to have been removed due to her movelist change.

I also want to know if they have Mugen similar to how it was in Extend and not that unused super from CS1 and CS2 that was essentially used for... nothing. There was absolutely no reason at all to use it in CS1 and 2 except maybe to troll lol.

I'm gonna be listing the confirmed changes for Tsubaki in the update and as more come along I can sort it categorise it by buffs and nerfs.

List of Changes
- Backdash - Duration increased from 20 to 22 frames.
- Negative penalty resistance - Increased from 2 to 4.
- 6A – Can no longer be Emergency Teched on hit. Knocks down on aerial hit.
- 6C – Can be canceled on block. If canceled on block, no hit stop occurs for the opponent. Now -18 on block (rather than -12).
- 3CC - Pulls in the enemy a little closer on counter-hit.
- D Sanctus Aequum (236D) - Now always blows the enemy away forward on aerial hit.
- Lux Macto ([4]6C/D) – Command changed from [4]6C/D to 421A/D. Startup of A version reduced from 27 to 25 frames, overall duration reduced from 56 to 54 frames. The projectile also accelerates faster.
- All Macto Maledictis (214214D) D Attacks – SMP-level increased from 1 to 2.
- D Sanctum Decus (22D) during Macto Maledictis (214214D) - If Macto Maledictis ends while Sanctum Decus is being charged, you'll get the mugen version.
- Overdrive D Version Confutatis Maledictis (236236D) – Start-up slightly modified. Now has a different animation after it hits; The last hit now blows the enemy away forward.

General game system changes:

Bursts now regenerate instead of preset number of bursts per match like in Continuum Shift. Using Break Burst completely depletes the OD gauge. Startup is faster.
- Gold Burst replaced with Overdrive. Overdrive can be used with A+B+C+D when not blocking or taking damage. Temporarily powers up certain abilities. While activated, the timer countdown is stopped, and DDs have altered animations and properties. OD duration is inversely proportional to health, and canceling into OD activation reduces the active duration.
  
  After use, 3/4 of the OD gauge is depeleted and the OD icon becomes unusable. The OD gauge recovers with time, and OD can again be used once it has fully recovered. The OD icon starts as usable in Round 1, and carries over to successive rounds without recovering. Both players can go into OD at the same time if it is available to them.
  - Combos done while in Overdrive are un-burstable.
    - Guard Primers removed, replaced with Crush Trigger. Press 5A+B to perform an attack that can break your opponent's guard unless they're using Barrier. On Barrier Block, a large portion of the Barrier Gauge is drained, and the attacker can charge the Crush Trigger to drain more of the Barrier Gauge. Amount of barrier gauge depeleted varies between characters. Crush Triggers costs 25% Heat.
      - Air/Ground teching is now done by holding A/B/C input (like P4U) instead of mashing it.
        Astral Heat (AH) conditions changed. You only need to have your opponent at low health and have 100 heat now. You do not need a burst or OD to use it.
        Hitstop has been lessened and combos are intended to be shorter/faster.
        Repeat proration is more severe, and "same attack combo" appears on the screen when repeat proration is applied. Starter affects the amount of time you have to combo with.
        When you enter Negative Penalty your barrier gauge will automatically be reduced to zero. It will automatically begin to regenerate like normal when you exit out of negative penalty.

Called Second Install and does automatic charge recovery while it is active.
you can jump cancel cancel with OD. i.e. 5bb>5cc>OD>5bb>5cc works.
6A,6B,6BB,6C,6CC,2C,JCC Can be OD canceled.
If you activate Mugen then OD, Mugen will take priority over OD but OD will make Mugen drain slower.
Activating OD in the beginning of the round gives her about 2 charges.
Charge cancels during OD have faster recovery.

[*]Charge recovery seems hard to do during combos now. Feels like, you get charges back in neutral, while the new projectile is occupying space, by landing a command throw, or using OD, and then you use them during combos. You get charges during OD or from landing the throw, but outside of that, it definitely does feel hard to acquire charges.

[*]Ground Projectile and Air projectile are together limited to 1. If you do an air projectile, you can't do a ground one until it is gone, etc. D versions not checked.

[*]You can use air normal charge cancel for pressure, i.e. JCC > JD > JC, but you retain the landing recovery, so it would be difficult to combo similar to short hops in P4A (but of course possible, using rapid cancels, or j.214D, etc, otherwise, on a counter, 5a should connect)

If you are just starting out with Tsubaki and are looking for some easy combos to begin with, the below 12 combos is a good way to start you off. These combos are helpful in that it'll give you a general idea of what Tsubaki's combos are like. With the charge combos, I have also highlighted where you need to use the charge.

2.) General tips regarding Tsubaki's Combos

Tsubaki's Drive can be a complicated matter to work with. As a Tsubaki player, you have to make time to charge when you can, and make sure not to waste charge. Due to the nature of Tsubaki's charge properties, not all combos will be added here. This is because it is very easy to make up your own combos by using D specials and other moves whenever you want. Save that for combo videos. Tsubaki's corner combos involving 22D follows a set pattern that you'll get used to really quickly. Let's sat for example you use 5BB > 5CC > 22D, you have 2 main ways you can followup but both end with the same ender. You can followup with 6C > j.D > j.C > 5C > 2CC > combo ender, or 6C > CT > 5C > 2CC > combo ender, and for this reason I may not list all of Tsubaki's sub routes. Mainly BnBs and other practical combos will be added here. In addition, here are some tips for any aspiring Tsubaki players:

Do not waste all your charge on every opportunity you have.
Make sure you try to maximize the most damage possible per charge.
Remember that any combo requiring 22B needs to be fully charged to get the most untechable time.
Any combo involving 22D needs to be fully charged on an airbourne opponent.
Some midscreen combos can also be used in the corner, such as the midscreen 0 charge 6A FC combos.
On crouching opponents you can extend your combos with 6BB > 214B after 5CC.
For IAD combos and the corner 623C > Delay j.214A combos, remember to delay the 2CC slightly otherwise the followup j.C/236C will whiff.
Sometimes a grounded opponent may be too far out for 236B to connect, so use 236A instead.
Using 623C > j.214B(w) instead of j.214A(w) is easier for 5A followups as you don't need to dash, but makes using 5C impossible.
With the corner combos involving the 5A > 5C > 2C > 236B, you can use 2A instead of 5A, which is more reliable.

Character Specifics

6C > CT > 5C Combos

After the standard combos involving the 6C (downs) > CT, the followup 5C will whiff against certain characters. You will have to use 2B or 5C(w)C instead, but it is highly recommended that you use 2B because it's easier. The timing for 5C(w)C requires you to input it as quick as possible, otherwise it'll whiff.

Followup 5C will whiff against: Platinum, Amane, Bullet, Nu-13 & Izayoi.

Followup 5C seems inconsistent against: Mu-12, Noel, Hazama & Terumi.

Here's a tip if you want to get 5C > 2C to work on all characters. After CT press 5C immediately then hold 2, then press CC. If the 5C whiffs, 5C© > 2CC will come out. Remember 5C > 2C doesn't come out on whiff so I guess it acts like a nice little OS? If 5C hits, 5C > 2CC will come out. This technique makes following up on characters a whole load easier.

Against characters where the 5C will whiff, if you don't press 5C fast enough, 5CC will also whiff.

6C > CT > 5C > 2CC > 236C Combos

Against the following characters you need to slightly delay 2CC other the 236C will whiff:

Bang, Mu-12, Kagura & Carl.

623C > j.214A Combos

623C > j.214A Whiff Combos
This is done by inputting 623C > j.214A. The j.214A is supposed to whiff and you are supposed to dash and followup with either 5A or 5C. 5C is much more difficult however, so it is advised to stick with 5A > 2C for consistency. There is a variation in timing depending on which character you are playing against and you need to take this into consideration if you want to be successful in landing the combo:

Doesn't work at all: Amane.

Relaxed Timing: Mu

Normal Timing: Relius, Makoto, Tao, Hazama, Hakumen, Kagura, Bullet, Ragna, Litchi, Tager, Terumi, Noel, Jin, Tsubaki, Rachel, Platinum, Nu.

Tight Timing: Arakune, Azrael, Izayoi, Carl. Valkenhayn, Bang.

623C > Delay j.214A Corner Combos
This alternative combo route is good in that it deals more damage than the standard BnB combos. but they are also quite character specific so please note the following:

Doesn't work at all: Mu-12, Nu-13 and Kagura.

623C > delay j.214A > 5C will whiff on: Bullet, Litchi and Makoto. Against these 3 instead of using 5C, use 5A.

6CC > 214B > 2CC

Using 2CC as opposed to 5C > 2CC makes it easier to do the followup IAD j.CC at the cost of slightly less damage. However, it does not work against everyone.

Works Against: Mu, Relius, Makoto, Taokaka, Hakumen, Bullet, Ragna, Litchi, Tager, Izayoi, Arakune, Carl, Tsubaki, Valkenhayn, Bang, Nu-13 & Noel (inconsistent).

Does not Work Against: Hazama, Kagura, Jin, Terumi, Amane, Kokonoe & Rachel.

However, when using (5B/5C CH >) 6CC, there is an easier way to get 5C > 2CC > IAD combo to land. Rather than doing 6CC > 214B and trying to time the right height for 5C (or using 2CC which is easier against some characters but results in slightly less damage) use 6CC > 214B > 22B(whiff) > 5C. Works every time against any character.

Back Throw > 214B

The 214B will whiff against Izayoi & Valkenhayn.

6C > j.D > j.C > 5C

Easy/Normal Timing (Cancel j.D > j.C immediately): Litchi, Terumi, Relius, Platinum, Mu-12, Hazama, Azrael, Nu-12, Makoto, Ragna, Valkenhayn, Hakumen, Noel, Taokaka, Kokonoe, Carl.

Tight Timing (Slightly delay the j.C): Tsubaki, Jin, Rachel, Arakune, Bang, Tager. With these characters you may want to stick to 6CC to save yourself the trouble.

Doesn't work on: Bullet*, Kagura*, Izayoi*.

*Only doesn't work on these characters from Air throw, otherwise it's fine.

The timing of the j.D > j.C > 5C can vary from time to time depending on the combo.

3.) Mugen (214214D) Combos

All Mugen combos require at least 50 meter and 1 charge.
The mugen combos listed are organized under how many charges are needed in total. Example: 236D CH > 6C > Mugen > [4]6D > 236D > 214D > 22D > Dash 5C > 623C > j.236A > j.214B will need 2 charges in total. One for 236D and other one is necessary for mugen, and so it will be listed under a 2 charge combo.

Similar to EX and despite SMP, Tsubaki can use 421D > 236D twice consecutively in a mugen combo to deal a lot of damage before following up with 623D > j.236D > j.214D. Provided you haven't badly prorated the combo you can use this anytime from any starter. Therefore all combos regarding 421D > 236D will not be included because it is the same followup. With 1 charge mugen combos, from any starter involving a combo into 6C/6B > Mugen, you can use either of the following in your choice of ender:

421D > 236D [x2] - You'll have to followup with 623C > j.236A > j.214A due to SMP.
421D > 236D > 214D > 22D - You can use 6CC > 236C > 214B > 22B provided you didn't use 6C, otherwise, use dash 5C > 2C.
or 421D > 236D > 623D > j.236D > j.214D - You can followup into 6CC > ender, otherwise, use dash 5C > 2C. (You need to have at least 1 and a half charge for this to work)

If you're using 5BB > 5CC > mugen will you have to followup with 623D > j.236D > j.214D instead as the 421D will not work as you may be out of range.

With 2+ charge mugen combos, you can use the following:

421D > 236D [x2] > 623D > j.236D > j.214D (You need to have slightly more than 2 for this combo to work. Opponent air techs at j.214D)
421D > 236D [x2] > 214D > 22D

As previously stated before the mugen combos will lead into the same combo ender and so all of them will not be listed. It is just to give you an idea of what you can do with varying amounts of stock.
