Here's a proper combo thread. Consider this post an ongoing WIP. I'm going to write down what I have and update with combos that people add to the thread. So, let's say if your corner combo does more damage or does same damage, but better ball setup afterwards, I'll move the previous "best corner combo" down with other variations and replace it with yours. That way multiple combo options are easily obtained, but the "best" combos are right on top. If you disagree with x combo being on top when y combo should be, sure. If you're right, you're right. Just explain why so it can be better illustrated in the top post.

Also, all combos will be followed directly below with a series of symbols that indicate where balls are positioned afterwards for easier visualization of oki.

i=Venom

o=ball

o(letter)=first ball summoned+version

_=opponent

invisible . for spacing if you need it.

Example: Traditional K ball pressure.

o

i . _

With all that said, please give me your combos to add to the list and make this resource stronger!

MIDSCREEN

May begin with optional 2K for low mixup

c.5S(3) xx 6K xx 214S > 66 > c5S(1) xx 6K xx 421HS xx 214K

o

i o o(S)_

CORNER

2K xx c.5S(3) xx 6K xx 214P > 66 > c.5S(1) xx 6K xx 421S > 2S xx 421S > 2S xx 623HS

o

i . _

THROW-MIDSCREEN

Throw > c.5S(1) [hits ball form] xx 214HS > 66 > c.5S(1) xx 6K xx 421S xx 214K

o

i o(H) o_

THROW-CORNER

Throw > 421S > 2S xx 421S > 2S xx 421S > 2S xx 623HS [DAMAGE]

i . . _

Throw > 421S > 2S xx 421S > 2S xx 421S xx 623K > j.K [PRESSURE]

i . _

[Follow Ups]

Any "(letter)" notates which ball summon it was.
First of all, would like to apologize to those that have requested this thread from me, or any new players wondering where they should go for combos.

Partly due to the nature of Venom, and partly due to my own shortcomings, instead of a traditional combo list, I will be listing out Venom's combo theory in terms of starters, filler, and enders. Hopefully, this information + videos/training mode will help you with your combos for real matches.

Starters:

2K - Venom's most common ground starter - fast and hits low. Of course, being a 2k, there is heavy proration - your combos will do less damage and generally have to be shorter.

c.S - Generally this will be a ground starter during frame traps (5 frame startup), or people just plain not respecting your pressure. Can also anti-air, but usually it will be the last hit, and too high up to get much reward.

5S/2S - Poke wars. If you're close enough, sweep with 2D. If not, Stinger for a combo, FRC said Stinger for a knockdown at certain distances, or Carcass/Ball summon to put yourself in a better position.

5HS - You mashed throw and got this. Congrats! On air or ground counterhit, you can do some big damage! If you just get a regular hit on the ground, you only really have time to dubious curve.

6P - one of the primary anti-air combo starters. Your followup will depend on the opponent's position and if you counterhit.

2HS - another anti-air combo starter. In this case, you only have a followup on counterhit.

j.D - Wall bounces in the corner. Even easier to followup on counterhit due to increased untechable time.

2D - You'll need a Stinger FRC to pick up into an air combo. In the corner, you can cancel into S Carcass Raid to do a full combo.

j.236S - When your last hit goes low enough to the ground, you get a combo! Link 2K or c.S.

623HS/j.236HS - When you get the read for these moves, you can RC and score a combo.

j.236D - Corner for best results. Of note, you keep your air options after this move.

Throw - Heavy proration, but will give you an opportunity to get lots of balls on the screen with positioning.

Air Throw - Not the same benefits as ground throw, but combo opportunities are around. Meterless if closer to the ground, otherwise, the FRC will let you combo from just about, if not anywhere. Just j.D after the FRC to get the special wall bounce that they get from being in the ball.

Combo fillers:

c.S - 3 hits for the launch, or 2 hits to keep it on the ground.

6k, (2)8S - Start charging immediately after entering the command for 6k. Adjust from 6->3 rather than going directly to 2.

j.K, j.S, j.HS, j.D - Corner only. Timing between the moves, and even the moves themselves used are going to be height and character dependent.

421P/S~D/HS~D FRC - Add corner carry and/or extra damage to your combo. Depending on the situation, generally follow up with dashing 2S, 2HS, Dubious Curve or dashing c.S, 6K on some characters/in some situations.

Enders:

5HS, 421x - Midscreen Standing Dubious Curve combo ender one.

2D - Sweep ender.

6K, 421x - Combo into a Dubious Curve

6k, 214HS~D, 5S, 421x - Pushes them a bit further out and adds some extra damage.

Air Combo into j. HS - convert air to air situations into knockdown. Can't exactly get the greatest okizeme, but it's something!

Red Hail - Finish the round in style and nothing more.

6HS - Score a knockdown while on the ground. Useful every now and then, usually covering stray ball hits.

Dubious Curve Loop Enders:

You can go into DBC loop in the corner meterless. More meter for FRCs can get you more reps, as well as higher damage variants using 2HS/5HS. General ways into the DBC loop will be 6P, 421x and (c.S optional), 6K, 421x.

(421S, 2S x 2-3 times) - basic loop. The amount of times you get is character and spacing specific.

421x, 214S, 2S - Practice hard and you can add another summon into the combo. In this case, you'll end the setup with 2 lightning balls for your okizeme!

Anti-air combo options:

If you're close enough after 6P, you can gatling into c.S. From there, air combo or 6k into your usual options from there. If you get a counter hit from further away, raw 421x will combo, so at least you'll get a ball out.

Counter hitting with either hit of 2HS will let you cancel into S Carcass Raid, then you can dash forward and combo from there. However, counter hitting with the first and letting the second hit will waste this opportunity.

Throw combo options:

Venom's throw has a unique property. Any move done while the opponent is in the ball will wallbounce them. This is mostly used for midscreen throws, and airthrow FRC j.D

Of a midscreen throw, send them into the wall (c.S, 2S, 2HS are all options), 214HS for the summon, pickup with c.S and continue the combo. HS Ball is used so it doesn't interfere with the combo.

You can also keep it simple with a dash 6P/c.S so they get hit after leaving the ball, and go from there.

Off of corner throw, I personally keep it simple with a Dubious Curve Loop, but you can do the air combo filler into j.d as well.

That should get things started, feel free to contribute or discuss at hand!

http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Venom_%28GGACR%29#Ball_Formations

Now that we have 4 more formations, for overall 9, which 1-2-3 ball formations of AC should still be used and which ones can be replaced with better ones using the oldschool returning ~D options?

The other threads seem to be out dated so I'll also post stuff about AC formations.

1 ball setups

The P~D ball looks interesting because its height is between P and S. It's high enough to be hit with a 5P instead of 2P (which means you go back to neutral 2 frames faster) but also low enough to still hit stuff like Ky/Robo slides. While you can just hit the S ball early to get the same height, the P~D ball's key position is stationary, allowing you to enjoy it even after you wait.

TL;DR P~D can replace S ball for space control in some matchups.

2 ball setups

P->K: Saw it being used against Ky. Rising j.P then airdash seems to cover 2 good angles and make the airdash much safer against both air to airs and grounded anti-airs.

P->K~D: Fino's favorite anti-Eddie setup. He used it with rising/landing j.P/j.H. Jumping backwards with a rising j.H seemed like a good defensive maneuver. Both could not be returned back to Venom by Eddie's 214S. When Eddie was playing defensive, Venom put the formation, moved forward a bit and then hit the ball with 5P and summoned another ball quickly, creating 3 moving balls that covered the whole screen. You can also hit the lower ball with a 5P without moving forward, and then start summoning more balls (usually another P ball) and that causes the upper ball to collide with the active P ball while you are busy summoning. You can either 5P the P ball and cover the deadzone in the middle of the screen or do the whole setup again.

Some more interesting tidbits about this setup: 5P hits the lower ball but 5S whiffs under it. Also hitting it with a 2H sends one ball straight and one ball upwards at a higher angle than you usually get with a 2H.

[2]8D->H ball: This literally creates a wall for a short period of time, allowing you to probably build a big multi-ball setup.

K ball(or is it K~D? I need to check)->[2]8H: Sends one of the balls backwards so it covers the sky right above you really well.

Finally, some interesting words on advanced Venom play by N-Otoko, thanks to Shinjin for the Translation.

It might be a bit weird that I am posting in this very very inactive part of the forum, but what the hell!

N-O is coming to Sweden to participate at the Destination Showdown-tournament with players from Sweden, Russia and France. I translated this post made by him a few days ago regarding his general game plan and view on how to play Venom for the Showdown-thread at bitterharmony. I thought that I might as well post it here as well, since I've already translated it to English.

Cheers!

In order to win the 5on5-tournament on May the 4th at a-cho, and in order to have fun when I’m playing, I've decided to try and think really hard on how to play!!

The basics of Venom is f.S and antiair. If make the opponent afraid of coming at you, one can start using ball summon. So primarily using these two are important.

There is also a need to us dashing and back dashing to reposition yourself, since you have to be using f.S and 6P a lot.

In order to get better rewards from when you get your f.S blocked you need to chose your options on block based on what character you are facing. And if you’re having problems getting decent risk/rewards from those two options (f.S/anti air); you should be adding dash 2k and buppa (planned random) ball summons to the yomi-layers of the neutral game.

Right now these are the only conclusions I can come up with regarding Venom, but it will have to do. The important thing is your speed regarding decision making. If you as Venom player is thinking and understanding the situation faster than your opponent, the opponent will have close to an impossible time playing against Venom. And you need to minimize the amount of time you spend on analyzing about the situation you are in in order to do be able to do this. It’s not really “mind games” per se; it’s more something in the style of constantly thinking one or two steps ahead of what’s happening on the screen. And thus you need to prepare and understand your options for different situations in advance in order to lessen the burden on yourself.

Focusing on lessening the burden on yourself and being very very precise in your movement as Venom are both valid options. Let’s say your opponent has 10 options; they can either just be using the really strong ones, or they might be using the less likely options of the 10 in order to win because they will be assuming that you’re not focusing on them. The later is important and is Venoms main skill to showcase; which is why have to put your brain activity in full throttle!

Losing mind games should also be part of your calculations. That’s why you need to understand whether it the lost mind game was a “lost mind game”, or was it “anti-Venom strategies” that your opponent is consciously using, or was it more in the lines of “the opponent doesn’t really understand at all”, or maybe it just happened “by chance”. You need to include details like the remaining time of the round, what round you are in, and what character you are facing in your deduction; and then chose what option you are to take. So as long it is not a “lost mind game”, and as long as you are playing well, it should result in the later of the mind game-situations explained above which gives the advantage to Venom.

Venoms match-up specifics against other characters should focus on recognizing the strengths of the other characters neutral- and poking game so that you can gain the advantage. Since Venoms neutral- and poking game is so strong.

So that sums up the mindset behind the neutral- and poking game.

-

So what if you manage to win a mind game. Well, there is not any really truly definite and optium way of gaining a reward from this situation but, generally speaking you can get some ball formations going and if you manage to score an air-combo you can get good rewards (top class in the game). It’s important not to let your opponent get off with “easily avoided if you just know what to do” when this situation emerges.

And if they manage to get through your setups; you need to know what situations that leads to. If this happens mid-screen, well it happens. What’s important that you need to understand the different situations this results in, and that depends on a lot of factors.

If you have a ball out after "winning a mind game"; you still have an advantage in the neutral game. And since you might not be to far distanced from each other there is the chance that your opponent will opt to be defensive; which can allow you to get more balls out on the field (even better for Venom). Having that said; if they opt to be offensive the risk/reward of ths specific situation will greatly favor Venom.

Speed is of importance here as well. If the Venom player can think quicker (based on all of the knowledge about different situations etc.), he can almost automatically go for the better options.

Think about the character you are facing and your opponents’ mentality. More important than always thinking logically, it’s important to mix it together with using options that your opponent will feel uneasy about based on the atmosphere. There is always the possibility that your “logic based movement” might just as well be options that you are instantaneously going for without thinking. Thus; there will probably be times where you act clumsily, so you should not just be relying that those kinds of template-based plays will always work.

You have to think about how many times you can't rely on it, and on how many times you can get away with safe options, and how many times those options will fail. And regarding safe options, you need to be thinking of how big of a reward you can actually get from them.

Can your offensive option always opt for one specific defensive option, or use a set counter-measure on reaction against it. You need to also factor which option your opponent wants to use in your game plan.

How much knowledge can you cram in your brain, what are you instantaneously doing as a habitual response to your reads, can you execute your game plan without even being conscious about it, and how close to a flawless play can you actual be capable of.

This is impossible for me, but I’ll do my best (haha!)

I will of course do my best for the tournament in Sweden, but I would also wish to do good at the a-cho 5on5-tournament this weekend.

I’m 100 % fired up! I’ll check out my own videos now-.

I am a huge noob to Venom and have little idea what his bread and butter combo(s) even look like. I have not found any videos or topics that have the notation for combos. I have mainly been using Throw>6P>HS>CRS(it might be the HS version it's the slower one)>some random hit and that seems to feel like a bread and butterish combo or at least the ideas in it do. I would appreciate some combo help.

though watching some Venom players it also seems that Venom does not really have a BnB but just a huge assortment of what he can do and he is free to choose what to do, but I am very unsure. the character is easily the koolest character by concept IMO and I would love to learn him.

I guess I have to do my job sooner or later.

NORMALS

5P/2P - Most used to tap ball formations so they move hella slow. Also pretty good for tickthrows and forcing the kinda spacing you need for some setups.

6P - New animation. Not as deisel of an AA as the shit he had in XX or #R, but pretty damn good. New gatling to 6HS was added.

2K - Fast low, decent poke overall. I personally prefer 2D for my mix-ups in most cases since 2K prorates a lot, but this is definitely the better option if you're looking for speed and better pressure options. Great for ticks.

5S© - Hits up to three times, with the final hit launching for an air combo. This move is absolutely essential to Venom's combos and pressure game, so learn to charge effectively during it's animation. Been changed from older versions so that all 3 hits will now connect on hit or block, except vs Zappa.

5S(f) - Quick poke with tons of range. Good for bridging gaps in combos or putting distance between you and the opponent. Use it.

2S - Another good poke. Not as much reach as 5S(f), but good for interrupting strings since it hits kinda low (a lot of characters can 6P Venom's far slash). Also nice since you can canel into CR easily (doesn't combo, though...), which is kinda tricky with 5S(f).

5HS - Not much of a poke, but it packs a punch. 10F start-up, so I suppose it's pretty good for frame-traps. Doesn't gatling into anything which kinda sucks, but oh well. Now staggers on normal hit, and it's the only ground normal Venom can use to combo into Dub Curve now ;[

6HS - Funky move. Kinda good as pre-emptive AA since Venom will swat them out of the sky if your spacing is right, but if they're too close it'll whiff and it has essentially NO PRIORITY ;[. Much better now that 6P gatlings into it. The new ground bounce also allows for some hot combos.

2HS - Another weird move. Not really particularly good except buying more charge time since it hits 2x. I've seen it used as AA sometimes, but O don't really know why. Maybe I'm missing something.

5D - Not all that awesome, but okay to stick out every now and then since most americans can't block. Just don't expect to get much damage from it.

2D - Beefed up a bit from Slash. 6F of startup now, hitbox is less fucked up (horizontally at least). Also tweaked a bit to hit 2x more consistently.

j.P - Definitely Venom's best air-to-air. Aside from hitting balls and combo filler, that's pretty much all I use it for.

j.K - Great angle for jump-ins, and it's pretty quick.

j.S - Awesome move. Great in combos (gatlings to almost all of Venom's other normals) and cross-ups. Fuzzy guard mix-up potential too.

j.HS - Can give knockdown in air combos if used low enough to the ground.

j.D - I see a lot of Japanese players fishing for counter hits against airborne foes with it, but I haven't dabbled with it much.

SPECIALS

Stinger Aim - [4],6+S/HS (FRCable) - Used to be a really good combo move, but the FRC is much later in Slash than it was in #R and Venom doesn't need it so much anyway now that he has tensionless combos. Still good for maintaining pressure though, and it can be used to fill combo gaps. You also have the option of charging the shot for some funky mindgames or combos.

Carcass Ride - [2],8+S/HS - Alright, this move is absolutely essential to good Venom play. S version is great for combos, pressure, and ball tricks, while the HS one is mostly used for AA. How well you can utilize it is directly proportional to how much you will win. No joke. Even better now is that you can charge it, which is fucking awesome for oki.

Double Head Morbid - 623+S/HS - Pretty good move. S version has pretty good priority (no invul, though...) and is safe on block. HS version should only be used for damaging combos or against retards that can't beat fullscreen Dark Angel->DHM stratz.

Warp - 623+K - I dunno why, but it has foot invul. Good in some advanced oki set-ups and for baiting bursts. Mix-up potential too when used with...

Ball Summon - 214+P/K/S/HS/D (air or ground) - The meat and potatoes of Venom's game. Good ball manipulation can win matches all by itself occasionally, which is what makes Venom such a pain in the ass for some characters. I'm not going to go into much detail right now, but the potential is nearly limitless.

Dubious Curve - 421+P/K/S/HS/D - Dunno how to feel about the changes to this yet. Gives ground slide now (AKA no tensionless combos outside of corner) and can be cancelled into ball summons on block, but you can only combo into it with 5HS and juggles ;[

Mad Struggle - 236+S/HS(air) - GREAT pressure tool and it has some usefulness in mix-ups (TK the S version for an "instant" overhead @w@). HS version is used in some fancy-pants combos.

FORCE BREAKS

Stinger Aim - [4],6+D (FRCable) - Uhhh.....don't know what this shit is for. It's faster than the HS one, but that's about it. There's a weird little trick where you can make the shot stationary by having it collide with other balls, but meh.

Carcass Ride - [2],8+D - More useful than the FB Stinger because of it's quirky angle and how long it stays on screen, but yeah.....

Double Head Morbid - 623+D - Yay, a useful FB. Does a bit more damage that HS version, and guarantees knockdown. Not something to spam, but good when you need it.

Mad Struggle - 236+D (air) - Hot damn. 14F of start-up, and a fat fucking launch on hit. The go into a pretty long stun on block, meaning you don't lose pressure if you air-dash back in. VERY NICE.

SUPERS

Dark Angel - 2141236+S - Sped up from #R, so now they can't FD an little and get away for free. Less coverage too, but that problem seems pretty minimal IMO.

Red Hail - 236236+HS(air) - use it in combos when the opponent is about to die. That's about it. I think you can air-dash and shit after it now, so it's at least a little better.

Hey,

Just thought we might need this. I know there is already a combo video thread, but we should have some videos of professional Japanese/American players. I believe in game stuff is more important than combo videos.

Here's a thread of all the formation uses and tactics that I know of and find useful. Feel free to add. Note that these are all for either 2 ball or 3 ball formations and that the formations are done with a fair distance away, usually a screens length or somewhat close to one.

There's going to be alot of repeating of stuff so instead of saying balls all the time I'm just going to refer to them as either being Pb/Kb/Sb/HSb/Db.

------------------------------Zoning formations------------------------------

K ball> S Ball:

Straight ball Condition

Usage: Either used as a zoning tool that forces the opponent to IAD or jump. Can also be used as a shield when dashing in and advancement. Probably the most versatile in terms of zoning out of all the formations.

P Hit - There's alot of uses and conditions concerning this so I'll split it up.

Condition 1: P as soon as the S ball starts forming. Kb and Sb will launch simulteanously with Sb being behind Kb. Depending on your timing of the P hit, Sb will be slightly higher or lower than Kb or will be level and the two blue auras surrounding the balls will overlap with eachother. Higher and level conditions do no effect the followups but lower does. Note that if you don't followup with any of the following hits, it's possible for characters to 6P their way through and may catch you while trying to summon more balls. Furthermore, if opponents are close enough, some characters their low pokes will get you.

Higher and Level conditions:

After you've hit the balls, you can followup with a 6P. This will change the trajectory of the balls to bounce off the ground and then go almost upwards. Useful for those who like to Airdash in. However, it should also be noted that doing this too early can lead to being punished as the opponent will be able to dodge the balls and you'll be stuck in recovery frames of 6P. It's usually best to dash and follow the balls and/or wait to see what the opponent does then 6P. You can also do 6HS, but it is slightly risky. 6HS would mainly be for opponent a bit further away and you want a good preemptive attack.

Lower ball condition(Note that these conditions can also work with Higher and Level however it's more consistent with Lower):

So after you've hit Sb/Kb with P you have a couple of options you can do. The first is 6P. Unlike the high and level conditions, when hit the Sb/Kb with 6P the balls will not go in the same direction but instead both will go in different directions. Sb will go about 10 degrees off of Vertical towards Venom while Kb will go towards the enemy. Furthermore, depending on how late you decide to hit this, either both balls will travel at the same speed or the Kb will travel at a much lower speed(P hit speed). There are a few cases however where Sb will travel slow and Kb will travel fast. This is more useful than the one direction because the Kb will keep opponents who haven't already jumped and try to get in from jumping as well as Sb provides some cover Venom. At the worst Venom might get hit and knocked down far reaching air move like Baiken's j.S but it's not too bad for most characters. Venom will have recovered to be able to block anything coming his way as well as the Sb coming back your way will most likely hit the opponent. Furthermore, the condition where Sb travels slow is good as well as your opponent will have to stop their attack string in order to block the ball.

HS is the other followup that you can do. The timing is somewhat strict though. Connecting HS right after P will cause the balls to split and fly at the opponent very quickly. They'll either be still on the ground blocking that or in the air blocking that or eating shit. There's 3 seperate conditions that may happen when you do this.

1. Sb will travel slow downwards and Kb travels fast upwards

2. Sb will travel fast downwards and Kb travels slow upwards

3. Both balls travel fast.

All of these conditions don't really matter since all of them leave you in the advantage position. There's pretty much no way that I can think of for an opponent to get this other than Eddie with his Drunkard Shade and with some sort of projectile so pretty much Venom is safe to summon more balls.

Condition 2: This condition is similar to the first one with the exception that the Sb and Kb are not touching. It's pretty much the same idea as Condition 1 except with minor difference. The first is the 6P will now only change the trajectory of Sb to go upwards while Kb doesn't change direction. S is also now usable. It's basically the same idea as HS except can be done later. To make it angle like HS the balls still have to be somewhat close to eachother. If the balls are in condition 1 the S will whiff. Same principles though. Another thing is if spaced far enough apart S will only hit Sb. This will speed up the Sb. The basic effect of this is that if the opponent jumps to dodge the Sb they'll then have to deal with Kb which most likely if they try super jump or AD, they might fall into Venom's 6P or 6HS.

2P Hit: There's not much to be said here. You basically wait for the balls to set and then you hit them with 2P and then P or the other way around. It'll give a sort of Tiger effect like in Street Fighter depending on how you space them out. You can also this with single balls as well.

2S: Same shit as 2P but faster. Good for forcing the opponent to advance however if close enough they may catch you during the recovery frames.

HS Hit: Fast balls going at the opponent. Good to change it up if you're mainly using slow balls.

K Hit: Good for forcing opponent to either block or dodge. Fast recovery so you can P the Kb afterwards therefore making it tough for those looking to airdash in and punish you. Probably a much better choice in using this than S Hit.

Angle ball condition

K Hit: basic split. Not much to be said. Good zoning tool.

S Hit: Faster version of K hit. Does more damage on connect.

2P Hit: Creates a slow split. Very good for space control. Can followup with Stinger Aim for 3 balls or summon another Pb or Sb to further force the opponent to block. Repeat and it'll make it very hard for the opponent to try and get in. After the 3rd ball summon you then have alot of options and have enough time to summon another set of two or 3 balls. Should be noted that this is better than the Kb>Pb>P>Pb formation because the balls are spaced closer together making it tougher for the opponent to break through and gives you more time to summon more balls.

K ball>P ball

Usage: This formation is essentially the same as Kb>Sb however is more focused on angles.

P Hit: Will create an angle similar to the 2P Hit of Kb>Sb formation. Angle is not as evenly divided as the other one. Can be followed up with another Pb summon.

K Hit: faster version of P hit. Similar to K hit of other Kb>Sb

S Hit: Similar to Kb>Sb formation.

HS hit: Fastest of all the hits. Does a straight line with both balls.

S ball> P ball

Usage: Essential the same as Kb>Pb but the Sb bounces at a lower angle.

P hit: If hit early enough, only the Pb will hit and the Sb will remain. useful for using as a shield for going in as well as the Sb there helps with either retreating or pressure. If not, Sb will create nice angle low to the ground while Pb will cover mid-high screen.

K hit: faster version of P hit with pretty much the same conditions and effects.

S hit: will send both balls straight. Pb will be a small distance behind Sb.

HS hit: Faster version of K hit

HS ball>P ball

Usage: Since the distance between the two balls is a bit greater, the Pb won't hit HSb right away. This formation has it's uses like when you want a late split. Pb provides coverage for those jumping in since it goes in a straight line until it connects with HSb. Should be noted that Venom should hit the balls before they completely go into formation or else split won't connect.

P Hit: Like I mentioned. connects with HSb late for late split. Provides air coverage for those trying to AD in.

K Hit: Faster version of P hit.

HS ball>K ball

Usage: Best usage is probably to control space. Not that useful but good if your opponent is turtling.

2P Hit: Probably the best option for this formation. Basically what you do is hit the HSb and afterwards you have alot of options to pick from. You can either do j.P to zone out the opponent(note this can be done in the reverse) or j.S which will connect HSb and Kb in a low split. You can also use j.K but it's not as good. Another good option is to use j.HS. This will create a fast upward split depending on how early you j.HS(note, it doesn't have to split with HSb in order for it to potential catch the opponent in the air) that will catch your opponent if they try to IAD in or jump. All of these can be airdashed afterwards but j.HS is the hardest I find.

K Hit: Another good option to use with this formation. Same as the 2P but faster. Advisable to use to force the opponent to make a move. recovery is fast enough to possibly punish the opponent for dashing in. Low enough that 6Ps won't be able to dodge.

More formations to come!!!

•Venom's pros en cons•

Cons:

>bad at escaping pressure

>heavily relies in balls

>average damage

Pros:

>okizeme S

>can pin you down in the corner for long

>anti-air A

>mixup B because the damage you get isn't really as good as i-no but its still worth doing.

>infinite setups!

>can increase your guard bar in a wink

[•Moves•]

2S - 6 frames startup. good for interrupting moves and close-ins.

2K- best move to interrupt tick throws and pressure holes.

5S - has more positive frames than 2s(on block)

5P - nothing special

c.S- fast startup and often used to build guard bar.

5H - staggers 39 max frames. on air CH you can use 6P>6H>CR combo

6P - your main anti-air.

6HS - kind of an anti-air but be careful not to whiff. on CH combo is possible

2HS - 2nd anti-air. has a pretty good startup but has slow recovery so careful not to whiff. on CH combo is possible.

j.HS - main anti-ground.

j.D - has a good knockback effect guardhit and if it CH they won't be able to recover until they get near the ground.

[•Special Moves•]

Ball Seisei- your defense against bastards who wants to rush you down.

Dubious Curve- 24f blockstun. electric ball on hit. spam this a lot if they don't know how to handle this.

Carcass Ride S - for zoning, damage and corner pressure.

Stinger Aim H - Stinger Aim H for ramming balls you summoned(watch N-O's match).

Mad Struggle- fastest overhead, although its possible to block it on reaction its still usefull for setting up pressure. + frames on guard, combo on hit.

Double Head Morbid- combo ender

Carcass Ride H- use to this to prevent them from escaping corners

[•Force Break•]

FB Double-Headmorbid - moar okizeme and moar damage rawr! guaranteed knockdown on hit.

FB Madstruggle - guaranteed combo on hit, and if they blocked it you can still continue pressure as you have lots of frame advantage.

FB Carcass Ride - compared to the normal CR H, your recovery is much faster and it moves slower.

FB Stinger Aim - faster than normal SA. probably good to use if you're feeling high.

<<<<BALL FORMATION>>>>

[•BALL SUMMONING PERIMETER•]

*NEW*

All you need to do is get away from their reach to summon. Never try to do a risky summon or else

you'll have to deal with pressure etc. And since we are bad in pressures we can't take risks. Click here for examplehttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...3173/ss_09.jpg

Summon when youre on frame advantage, using pokes like 5s,2s,6HS, dubious curve(on block).

[•What do I do if they wont let me summon balls?•]

*NEW*

If their character is really bad ass, then you have to keep on back dashing and teleporting around

and wait for an opening to summon or to attack.

[•Rule of the thumb when playing Venom•]

Be innovative with your ball setups and more importantly, have fun.

Pressure tips:

Anti-FD: Remember to use level 3 moves to prevent getting pushed back on corners. I think the higher the moves level the farther you'll be pushed back. If you're pushed back it'll be harder to continue you're pressure.

I decided to make this thread since the last ball formation thread hasn't had a post in it in months, and the general AC Venom thread has absolutely nothing listed under ball formations. If you feel anything is missing then please post up, I want this post to be as thorough as possible.

How it works:

Venom Can summon up to five balls, each indicated by the five attack buttons (P, K, S, HS, and D). There are five different ball formations each corresponding to a different attack button. All of your current balls on screen will change to the formation of the last ball you summoned. This means that a formation of D>HS>S>K>P is the exact same thing as K>S>HS>D>P since they both end with P, thus making them go into the P formation. Also note that each ball has a designated spot in each formation, this means that the K ball will always be in the exact same spot whenever it's in the P formation. Here is a sheet showing all five ball formations, and where each ball is specifically located in them:

Venom Ball Formations

Note: All of these ball formations are located in front of Venom except for the S formation which has him in the middle.

-----------------K----------------

-----------P----------------------

-----------------S----------------

-----------------------D----------

Useful ball formations:

Note: You shouldn't be trying to summon more than 3 balls in a setup, because they take to much time to build, and you can make equally strong formations with just 3 or less.

Rushdown formations

Note: Whenever you make a formation to rushdown your opponent, you should always make sure you cover the ground and air, to give you a clean opening.

P ball- This is as basic as you can get, tapping the ball with 5P then IAD is an easy way to get your rushdown on.

K ball- This is just a variation of how the P ball works but it's in the air. So tapping it with j.P then doing a ground dash is an alternative to start your rushdown.

S ball- Yet another basic way to start rushdown. I just use this against Zappa since he can run under the P ball.

K ball, S ball- Variation on how you would use the P ball, but now you get two balls to assist you. You must hit the balls early with 5P to get both of them.

K ball, S ball, P ball- Very useful since it covers a lot of space, but it takes time to setup.

HS ball, K ball- Tap one ball then tap the other, you can then choose to either ground dash or air dash in afterwards.

Zoning formations

Note: It may be hard to create distance between you and your opponent to start zoning patterns. So a typical trick is to make your opponent block Dark Angel, this gives you ample time and space to setup formations.

Okizeme formations

Note: It's best to start your okizeme game by comboing into Dubious Curve then canceling into another ball summon. This gives you knockdown plus two balls, which creates many okizeme options.
