We mostly netplay but from time to time there are local tournaments. Otherwise we have to travel to play BB (mostly to Austin for Arcade UFO) or make arrangements to meet at someone's place.

I've noticed some people posting around the boards mentioning they're from Houston, but not really having a place to call home in the match finder threads due to most posting over at the Planet Zero forums (figure thats a taboo on dustloop w/e) Anyways, feel free to message me or any of the other Houston residents that we'll try to get to post here about gaming sessions and the like for any game really. On any given night we can collect a group of players from all skill levels so don't be shy

Come join us every Wednesday for out weekly [FLCL] Fight League Championship League nights. This event is open to all with an emphasis on 2D fighters. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2 usually draws the most people. Occasionally, we try to hold 1$ entry pop-up tournaments if we get enough attendance.

Feel free to use this thread to organize some online with people around here in the hopes of a good connection!

If you come to a meetup, please bring your own controllers, especially sticks. Converters are desired too. I have 2 ps2 pad and stick/ps3 pad to xbox 360 converters.

If you can bring TVs or whatever, please mention that.

If you want to go to a meetup but haven't been to that person's place before, PM them for directions, phone #, etc.

Our most commonly played game is Persona, but depending on who else is there we play Blazblue, Arcana, KOF, Melty, random shit that none of us are particularly good at, etc. If you are interested in getting a scene going for the game you love, attend and rep your game! That sort of shit can go a long way.

Feel free to post here to coordinate a meetup, even if you can only accommodate 1-2 people! Organize and make injoke-filled posts and all that jazz.

Naturally, if you wanna organize meetings at other places in DFW for when I'm busy or someone else is simply closer, use this thread.

Don't fret about your skill level, offline play is the best way to improve that.

On the Meta Games Tournaments we're currently only doing Street Fighter due to lack of interest in BlazBlue (Which makes me rather sadface, we only have roughly 4-6 BlazBlue players). It's commonly run on my PS3 Setup, which has a shoddy monitor with discolored lines on the right side of the screen (I got it for free. >~>) and only 1 Stick that is consistently there. I'm sure we could get a 360 set up going if needed.

Anyone in the surrounding area is totally welcome, because the best type of practice, in my opinion, is LIVE, OFFLINE practice.

The most consistent venue for all fighting games in St. Louis is Danno's Pub, located directly off Watson Road. Besides that, most hookups are impromptu meetings at various players' houses throughout the general St. Louis area. Almost every Monday, there are at least a few players at Danno's to play anime games. We are currently trying to create a regular weekly or monthly tournament schedule, but working around our players' work schedules is currently an issue. I recommend joining the Danno's Facebook group, STL Bar Warz. It is currently set as a private group due to issues with spambots, but if you request to be added, your request should go through quickly. Almost all of our local fighting game discussion happens on Facebook, it's just more convenient than Dustloop's format for most people.

As for what games we play, currently everyone is focused on Xrd. However, in the past we have played Persona, Blazblue, UNIEL, and Melty Blood, and many of us would be happy to play other games with you. If you have little or no experience in anime games or fighting games, many of us are very willing to mentor or play you. Being new to a game is nothing to be ashamed of, but please come ready to learn and ready to lose (like a lot).
