Some Noobish Questions and needs some help

im trying to go through mission mode in Xrd and im stuck on the second mission where you have to intercept the attack and do a Close Range S, but i cant seem to get the timing right can somebody help with that?

 

oh and i having some problems with cancels, in this Combo 6P > c.S > jc > j.8D i can do the first two but seem to get the timing on the j.8D right, could somebody help
