Mystic d Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 4:30 is a little late. as i said, i'll probably need to leave around that time. my dinner just got moved to a later time, so i was thinking i'll be there around 3:30 and leave around 5. sound good?
LunarSelenia Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Sounds good, it seems that Solar will not be accompanying me so I'll be going there alone, if you don't mind.
machblast Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 What part of the Big Island are you from? ROFL @ 'the wastelands for video games that was the big island' part. It's sad, but true though... If you've got any Q's about stuff, just ask. I'm from South Kona. so yeah. About questions, yeah, I'll ask when necessary. I'm real busy right now, but I'll be coming down hopefully this weekend.
SolarMisae Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Grrr. I wanted to go then suddenly I have a doctors appointment at 4 on Friday, so I can't go as much as I'd want to. Oh well, Lunar doesn't like fighting my Nu anyways. <_<
LunarSelenia Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 ....I don't like to fight your Nu only because I was a scrub. I'm a bit better, but I still lose to Nu XD...that and constantly losing at arcade = losing money for me =P
Mystic d Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 @solar and lunar: would u like to meet earlier so solar can go as well? i'm always looking to meet bb players, especially here in hawaii. if transportation is a problem, i may be able to give u guys a ride depending on where u live. i live in waipio, so anything along the way i'm willing to pick u guys up.
LunarSelenia Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Hell we live in Kailua, which is out of your way. Solar can't go, she's bummed but it can't be helped...doctors and all, her mom scheduled it before we told her our plans to go out. I'll still be making an appearance. We're not the greatest of players, and we don't have a stick so we're not used to playing on arcade stick, but we're willing to meet people who play BB in Hawaii ^^
Mystic d Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 ah alright then. i have something to do in the morning, but i should be done by noon, at the latest 1. i'll be at brians by 2 i guess so see you there. i'll be the dude wearing all black and a quiksilver shirt.
LunarSelenia Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I don't know how to describe my outfit. But I have a white/black messenger bag with a checkerboard pattern on it.
EVAC_Industry Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 GG to everyone at Brians: Mystic d: Ur Tao is solid man good to know that we have a Tao player here, when ur not at school at least. LunarSelenia: You have alot potential im sure if you invest in buying a stick you can get good in no time. Im sure if everyone starts coming down to CS sessions we can get a decent scene going.
Shujinko Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 GG to everyone at Brians: Mystic d: Ur Tao is solid man good to know that we have a Tao player here, when ur not at school at least. I second this also nice meeting you all.
LunarSelenia Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 ---- @Evac: Actually I did, and it came in right when I got back from Brians...been playing with it, but I'm more than likely to invest in some things to mod it XP. Thanks for the compliment, though....I want to get good someday....just will take awhile. Like all things do. I have no matchup practice whatsoever anyway so fighting other players is very refreshing ._.;;; --- We need more BB get togethers XP we (as in Solar and I) need a reason to get out of the house more....we stay in here all day. I know we're not the best of players (I guess that can be a bit discouraging) but it'd be nice to hang out with people in rl who like this game just as much as we do....it's always a learning experience to us. ^^;;; It was very nice to meet you all.
Mystic d Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 yup. it was nice to have an arcade casual session for the first time ever in hawaii. too bad it wasn't cs (ct = ) but its all good i guess. ggs to all u guys. great meeting u all and i hope u guys continue playing and get a bb scene started up here in hawaii. if theres anything i can help with to help the scene along while i'm up on the mainland, please don't hesitate to ask me. i really want to see a bb scene develop here, so keep the hype alive. when i come back in december, i'm bringing my taunt loop with me, so be ready looking forward to playing with u all again. thanks for coming out today. and solar, next time, no doctor appointments!!
SolarMisae Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Man, sounds like it was fun. I'll definitely make sure theres nothing stopping me from going next time. We need to get the BB hype going. If we do that the arcades might decide it's worth it to invest in CS machines...cause CT is dead at this point lol. When playing as Nu I alway forget 236x parsers don't exist...but keep trying to do them anyways. She's so boring to play as compared to Lambda. So I want my Lamchop at the arcades, and my Hazama. :] So lets get some 808 BB hype people. ^^
LunarSelenia Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 We should just set up more get togethers...gotta get out of the house on my days off!! XPPPPP And CT fail *shot* We need a CS cabinet somewhere...anywhere...they'd get business from us DDDX but I say more get togethers....get some 808 BB hype going and maybe it'll attract others >__>;;;
Mystic d Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 i would recommend the best thing to get the bb scene going would be to try get some kind of small tournament together at brians. unfortunately, this would mean a ct tournament and u would need to get brians' approval. if u manage to get approval, make posters/flyers and post one up on the cabinet with details of the event. attempt to post others around the college campuses (UH, HCC, LCC) or wherever u may attend school (even high schools). make the tournament have a cheap entry fee to encourage newer players to play ($3-$5). just bring the hype and encourage newer players. recommend them to dustloop. by playing in a public location such as brians, we can attract more casual players who may stroll by the game or just try it a couple times. if the tournament can draw a crowd, the bb community will grow. it's gonna take some effort, but we can do this
LunarSelenia Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I remember briefly seeing a poster on a token machine for a Brawl tournament held at Brians? I'm not too sure about this, but hell, if that's true, maybe we can hold a small tournament and get some players interested....hopefully. We can try at schools, but Solar and I don't go to college, so we don't know. About high schools....we went to Kailua, which I know, since I was somewhat close to the administration and I grad in '09 so it hasn't been that long...that 100% they will not allow us to post up flyers of something like that on campus...don't know about the area around the schools (that's practically my neighborhood there XDDD). I'm sure Solar wouldn't mind and I don't mind trying to promote the BB community in HI, just we don't drive, we do have somewhat of a curfew, and an even tighter curfew if we don't have our friends to drive us.... so to the extent we will be able to help is limited. But regardless we will support in building a BB community. EDIT: I just realized I have a friend from HS who works at Brians...I'm not sure how much he'll know the chances of us holding a tournament or not, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask...if I can't catch him on FB, I'll probably end up going down to Brians on Mon. or Fri. (my days off this week) to find him or ask the administration at Brian's myself....not to set one up, but the likelihood of holding a CT tournament...
Kurokun Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Wait... So you all played casuals in CT instead of CS? SADLIFE LOLZ My opinion on BB scene stuffs: 1. Focus on the 'core' playing group. 2. Schedule more casual sessions. 3. Don't worry so much about getting more casual players to play BB. 4. ???? 5. PROFIT?
Shujinko Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 To Mystic D : That's a great idea but brian's is a bit bad because of the slight lag on the monitors and its CT.There are places where we can hold tournaments/casuals for CS which are at PC gamerz and the HVGL event near ala moana mall.Evac and Bears brought down Melty Blood and BBCS last time it was great. To Lunar : I don't know if the owner will let us because he has turned down our opinions/suggestions for the arcade and that is why we only have BBCT and a pretty outdated beatmania machine. To Solar : I hope you can make it next time it's load's of fun! To Kuro : Yes I agree with the CT idea being not fun also there will be casuals planed for October 8 at PC gamerz kaneohe since the owner comes back by then and if another HVGL thing comes up we will set up some casuals at their event near Ala Moana
LunarSelenia Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 That sucks..and I kinda figured, since a good majority of the cabinets there are old.... Oh well...Solar and I can try to come down to BBCS casuals...just we have a curfew and limited options of transportation...but I mean we're all good for getting our butts kicked...right Solar? =D
Kurokun Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 So, the only venues currently available for casual session stuffs are: - PC Gamerz Kaneohe - HVGL event(s) - CT at HBB Outside of that, there's nothing? Hmmm... Maybe someone could host casuals or something? At least that way, you all could meet up outside of gaming event stuffs, which seem to be infrequent? The only real issues for everyone that might be interested in this would be: time, location, and availability. The talk about scene stuff is interesting though. *recalls when Ihpsta 'tried' to get some stuff going for GG, BB, and AH* LOLZ

Kurokun Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Well, he 'tried', but ultimately things didn't work out and resulted in FAIL. LOL Here's a rundown of how things went: - Sometime during Oct 09, Ihpsta announced that he wanted to do casuals/ranbats for GG and BB, IIRC through HVGL stuffs. - The 2 GG players at the time (myself and Bears) said 'No' to the ranbats idea because nobody else really played GG and didn't seem to be interested in wanting to play the game. Dunno about BB at that time though, lol. - I suggested setting up casual sessions for those games to gauge interest and possibly see if other people wanted to pick up GG or whatever. If there was enough interest in GG with people actually playing casuals, then maybe you could do ranbat stuff. - Ihpsta begins to jump around the GG cast in order to find a char to use. - HVGL events come and go and Ihpsta doesn't really play any GG casuals and plays SF4 instead. - I manage to make it out to Oahu for a weekend back in Nov 09. Bears decides to host casuals for GG and invites Ihpsta. He doesn't attend, which leaves me and Bears to have casuals by ourselves in GG, MB, and DB. - Mid Dec 09, Ihpsta says that he's: thrown in the towel for bb in favor of gg. LOLZ He also says that he gonna try to start up ranbats for GG, MB, and AH via HVGL events starting in Jan 2010. The ranbats don't take place due to low interest in those games and that only a few people actually play those games. - Ihpsta somewhat decides on a char to use and also decides that it's: time to get serious with GG. BTW, this was at the start of 2010, lol. - More HVGL events come and go and I hear Ihpsta finally plays a casual GG match... in Jan 2010. Well, it's only one match and it was against King33. Only one match, after how long? - Fast forward to Feb 2010 and the topic of having casuals comes up in a discussion between King33, Bears, myself and Ihpsta. Bears suggests that he could probably hold casuals for GG/MB/etc. at his place in Waipahu and/or probably at the next HVGL event. King33 says: I'll drive anywhere on this island (Oahu) to play some gg Ihpsta says: waipahu too far. - I reply to Ihpsta: Me, flying inter-island to play GG comp > You, driving somewhere on Oahu to play GG comp. STEP YO GAME UP - Ihpsta pretty much disappears from the DL 808 thread before the end of Feb 2010 and runs back to the SRK 808 thread? LOLZ - Mar 2010, in SRK's 808 thread, Ihpsta announces that he wants to do a petition and garner support to bring in a BBCS cab to Fun Works. IIRC, only about 4 people express some interest and support the idea. Nothing really comes from it in the end because IMO it's "too little, too late." Also, he doesn't post this up in DL's 808 thread to ask for our opinion, to which I still would've said 'No', lol.
low tier guy Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 oh noes, I'm actually posting here. It's that low tier guy who sucks with Bang. Just thought I'd drop in and say hi. When's the next get-together anyways? I'm pretty much open as of late.
EVAC_Industry Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 OOOOOOOOooooooooooooo that low tier guy. Idk i guess whenever the next HVGL or PC Gamerz tournament is. This Derek by the way.
