Xill Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 The flaw in this Seon is that most of us have no rides. Picking up rides is obviously a chore. So since not too many of us can make it to Garden City, the CS ranbats in Game Yard will fall short, as it did in CT. We could try it, since Troy and Dave are cool guys, and I have gas money for them, but as it stands, none of us, except for you and your bro, are guaranteed to be there for ranbats. And there ain't a damn thing stopping us from making one of our own in a more convenient location. Not to deliberately "split the community" as you put it, but as circumstances go, I want to play other people and I'd like a ranking for it. The way I see it it will be more of a Nocal/Socal kind of thing, but on a much shorter scale. Me, My bro, Greats (The guy who import'd the game), Kenta, Person-man, Alucard, AAron/Sigmal, Shards, Mr.u.suk, Youske, PapaRhino, Greggo, Koh. These are all people who were a part of BB when the ranbats included it. They'll be up there for the SF Ranbats. Guaranteed( As they would be happening alongside BB.) How many people do you think we could get to meet up from this site? More than 6/7? What I think is you don't see that it would be splitting the community because you don't know who plays it up at the Gameyard/D-Ops. But to hit your 2nd point, it will be in the ranbats, you will get to play other people and it will be ranked. I don't see what your issue is. Everything that you want will be right there and all you have to do is show up.

I'm not worried about you guys finding a ride for something that's a MONTH away. There are a lot of people heading to the ranbats and you can talk to them about getting to the rides. You need to open your eyes a bit. You're still thinking small scale. This site isn't the only place you can wave around gas money. Also, you're saying for those. Does that include you? Just want to clarify. Because if you have a ride, you should be able to hit the ranbats, right? In which case we're talking about something that don't even apply to you.

The game isn't out for 2 weeks. This Season of ranbats will come to an end. They will start back up for another season and BB will be add'd to them. So anyone who wants to go has plenty of time to save and come up with a plan. Also, since you guys(Skye) are close, you might be able to swing over for casuals. Just saying.

What he said. Honesty, getting rides isn't all that hard. Get social, get people in your area interested in the games, teach them, hope they have a car and want to go, boom, that's a ride. My issue is that everyone I've found and taught in my city is completely casual and sucks ass. (talking Super) And even with me being 17 with no car or license I still manage to get out once in a while when I wave some cash to people. Depending on how old you are you shouldn't have any excuse whatsofuckingever for not having a ride, if you're over 18, you should probably have a job+car. With that in mind we all know the basic rules for getting a ride but that doesnt mean there are people in your area that give a fuck about the game whether you are willing to teach them or not. Obviously a lot of people here and probably in the SRK forums are spread out in michigan, which compounds the problem for getting rides if no one in your area plays and its way the fuck out of the way. Which means, i cant wave money around if i were to live in flint and expect someone to come pick up me up from detroit or port huron for that matter. Yes we will work on getting people rides i will pick up who i can how bout you seon grab skye and axis since you know,all three of you live about a half an hour away from each other or so. If i wasnt about making the scene bigger in michigan i wouldnt have drove four hours to pick up four people and help get us together. Point is there is no reason to be a dick even if ya didnt mean to, and then come off hypocritical saying oh there are people who will give you rides and care just not me cause hey i got a car and i will at least be there good luck with rides guys. We all understand the social aspect of this so i will hope we can work things out and get people to these ranbats and the tournaments.

Yes, and you said you were in Flint? I'm about 35-40 minutes west, maybe we could work something out when the time comes. Edit: After this season is over it will probably be introduced during Michigan Masters 3, then added to the next season.

I know dave from port huron said will be able to bring 3 or 4 people if he goes. Onslaught had mentioned there were a few people up there in flint that wanted to play so i hoping he can find a ride with them and manage to bring a few people. I live in toledo and was going to hit up the ohio thread to see if i could get anyone to head up to ann arbor to play since its about an hour from here. I know they do ranbats in cinci but im not sure if all live in that area or some are traveling further that might be able to make it up to digital ops and gameyard.

What the fuck do you think we've been doing for these past 3 months, getting social doesn't equate to jack shit if the answer ends up being "no", it's not like some of us aren't trying to get a job, and this isn't the fucking 70s where you can walk into a random factory and get a 30 year career with health insurance. Did did you guys forget the economy we're in and the fact that Michigan is running the present crisis of federal funding. You guys just popped up in here and just started ordering us around like we don't know our situation and what we're trying to do about it. We're doing all we can to get some sort of Ranked Battles started for us, and I personally don't give a flying shit whether or not it's in Ann Arbor or somewhere else, and I equivalently don't give a shit about splitting the community, it's not like it's gonna make a difference if we can't get to Ann Arbor anyway, life sucks when you're poor and no one wants to hire you for God knows why, we don't need any-fucking-body reminding us of that. We do what we can to score a job, and since it's stupid filing an app on a weekend, there's nothing wrong with wanting to relax with some competition or MMs or whatever, and the only issue is a ride, you don't think we're trying to get shit organized? As Troy said none of us are ignorant, we're all adults, mostly in college trying to gain credentials to get a solid job in the first place. Lend a helping hand or stop pointing out the obvious like we don't already know, we seriously don't need any of that shit here.

In addition our doors as a means of transporting people, Were close the second we picked up people who didn't give us enough gas money to buy a fucking box of cheese-its. We're saying the same thing, did you ever think that it's because we're still under the same problem, it's not like I never asked for rides out on SRK, and besides back when I did CT was off the ranbats, there was a chance to make it up there, but the person who said he'd pick me up--well, didn't, and he could have at least been a man and said that he wasn't going to. Once again, we're doing what we can, if shit goes tits up, we can start our own ranbats, don't want us to? Too fucking bad, it won't make a difference if we can't make it to Ann Arbor. I have tried to teach several people they just dont have patience or the drive to get good at it. I have an account on the srk forums, i realize the world is bigger than dustloop as do the others on here. I see this fighting game community as a comradery sort of thing so half of it is helping people out when ya can in order to expand things.
