bjholmes2 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 For discussion of the Hazama vs. Rachel matchup.
UZI4YOU Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted before christmas and nothing here? well to start it off I realized that using 214D~A can be electric chaired if used in a pattern so be careful not to telegraph this move. JAYOKU can also be chaired so don't just throw it out. That my input to get something going in here
kazukifafner Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 For Rachel? Zone and watch for chair. Not much else to it, to be honest.
LordSpectreX Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 How do I zone when she's flying **** at me? Her Barrells have further range and ourboros and have less recovery time. Then I have to worry about the frog as well, while trying to deal with everything else. I can't chain randomly in because of cat chair, and I can't chain in the air because of Sword Iris. I lost the last match by a Rachel because of two timeouts where we practically had full health. Except I had about, oh...800 taken away?
kazukifafner Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Catch her in-between traps. Also, get her when she rushes in after george or pumpkin. Also, george can be killed with 2 chains; and lobelia can be hit with chains as well. Another fun thing to do is to mizuchi Rachel's that go overboard with zoning.
LordSpectreX Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 But how am I supposed to chain george when she's constantly firing lobelia's at me? And there is no space between traps. Going from a Lobelia to Frog and back again takes 2 seconds. To get to her in that time, I have to dash forward about three times and fire a chain so that it hits her in that time. Or else I eat lobelia or sword iris. Plus, If I get into a courner, it is impossible to get out, she just does a lobelia at the end of my blockstun and repeats. I find Ragna easier than this matchup, so I must be doing something wrong.
Ouroboros Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I've fought a couple of matches against Rachels and won every single one. I dunno if it has to do with my play style or something. Although I HAVE lost a couple of rounds. The electric chair can be baited with a random chain. If they think you are going in with the chain they do the chair, that's when you do the ~A follow up and throw another chain, hit her, and go in for the BnB. If Rachel is far away and the frog is getting close to you then 3C it, I dunno if 5C will hit it but most likely since it also hits low. If not then block, or run away from it... I guess. Lobelias can be denied by the chain and thrown back, except it denies your chain as well. When you are far away you need to be careful with throwing random chains, unless you are sure you are going to go in with it fast enough then don't do it, you will see a lobelia right on your face. You can always do 6D~D > j.4D~D or 4D~D > j.6D~D to get in, instead of straight 5D~D. If you do mess up I think you have enough time to do the ~A follow up instead to get the chain away and block it. And lol yes, Mizuchi. It's funny how easily they can get caught up by it. The thing is that Rachel that are further away tend to do some pretty long moves, like throwing the frog out, perfect timing for Hazama's DD. The only problem I see is that she is one of those smaller characters which some of Hazama's combos don't work on, so keep that in mind when fighting her. It also lowers the percentage of doing things like catching her in the air with 6D or something, as opposed to someone like Tager who you can 6D all day and they will still get hit by it from doing a regular jump.
LordSpectreX Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm looking at the Hazama Vs Rachel videos on the video thread and it doesn't look as easy as it seems to be made out to be. The Hazama's in the videos, including Zaks, seem to have an unconfortable victory at best. Plus, the Rachels I keep facing zone more than the ones in the videos. But yeah, I'll try the swing next time. Prehaps that will work.
kazukifafner Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Well, that's the thing. The matchup is uncomfortable (and can end in timeouts a lot), but the actual strategy for the matchup is fairly simple and straightforward.
Platinum_Tager Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I'm definitely having some issues with this matchup. The BIGGEST problem, being able to catch the little rabbit. I know it's probably just as simpe as "duh use your chain" but with her wind it changes her trajectory so much it's a little rough. And it also seems that if the role is reversed and she is on the attack, her wind + the fact that I have no reversal without any heat (which I still find iffy to use due to being afraid that a lobela? will knock me out of it ) I get locked down pretty tough for a bit. Granted I've been doing a bit better with the matchup I still end up losing due to time out/run away in the end because I'm chasing her around the screen for 90 seconds. Any thoughts?
