2/13 isn't Valentine's Day. :|

Besides, spending Valentine's Day with your cat is kind of weird and creepy.

Either way, I won't be able to make it to the tournament cause I'll be at a 'Valentine's Dinner'. It'll be with someone...who's not a furry! :o

double perfected

game over, no continues

Actually, tell me the pros and cons between each style.

NorCal's Blazblue 2v2 Tournament

Format:

- Entry: $10 per team

- Pot Split: 70/20/10

- Team Format: TBA

- Elimination: Double Elimination

I'm just pulling stuff out of my arse. If you tell me why waseda is better, then I'll change my mind.

it goes hand in hand with why i prefer random teams; people get to play more and people get to play under a different circumstance than usual.

of course the first thing you'll probably point out about random teams is that you can end up getting a random player who isn't very good. ofc that's true but at the same time you suddenly have a vested interest in making sure this random doesn't fuck you over, so you'll be more prone to giving him PRO STRATS and such (stop mashing x, start mashing y).

with waseda you don't end up getting the random elims of pokemon style (ie: your random fucks you over) because you can redeem your team by yourself. plus it makes for some very hype comebacks (see: waseda 5v5 at evo last year for sf4, norcal ALMOST pulled an ocv from the grave).

so yeah even though me teaming up with scott or fred might make for a good team, it doesn't necessarily mean anyone's going to be learning much of anything that day. plus fuck the mod brothers being on the same team :toot:

Actually I like qwerty's idea of random teams. It would add a little variety to the matchups. Although I have no clue how Pokemon or Waseda styles work...

Posted

oh and if you want a visual representation of how the two work pokemon ocv: x1 x2 | \ y1 y2 waseda ocv: x1 | y1 and x2 | y2 with x1 and y2 being the winners, you then get x1 | y2

So let me try to repeat what you said. In a 2v2 waseda team battle, both players get an opportune chance to fight. For example: Team: Qwerty & Quash Team: TaoFTW & TaoWTF Match 1: Qwerty defeats TaoFTW Match 2: TaoWTF defeats Quash Match 3: TaoWTF vs. Qwerty

I like the idea of random teams and Waseda format. Should entry still be $10 per team since it's random, or should we lower it? Same character teams allowed (same character teams may be unavoidable since we ended up having three Tagers last tournament )?

Haha yeah it was. Though it was annoying playing CT at first when I kept trying to do CS-only combos due to muscle memory. :psyduck: Wish the prizes were better, but it WAS free anyway haha. =P

It didn't seem you were dropping combo's.. or else you were thinking GADGETTO FIGGA!!! and that kept failing or something XDD

gg's tho :kitty:

Yeah well be happy with your goodie bag, all 3rd and 2nd got was some lame-ass narutard garbage XDDD... :vbang:

Someone recorded a majority of the matches. they got the matches from the first 2 rounds and then they recorded the semifinals and the finals I believe. I know they got the finals. Actually, if my memory is right, PhaethonH was the one who recorded everything. Must be him, he was the only Carl player there.

Yeah he's the carl. Does phaethon have direct capture like he had on CT?

Yeah, Eric was there with his long hair and glasses.

Figured as much XDD

Oh shit dude! When did you get back from Oregon?

Just recently 3: I'm gonna head down when i have time soon. I was up here at AOD getting knocked into third by Renegade here during the BBCS ranbat yesterday.. lol..

2v2 team tournament? Since there seems to be a interest in team tournaments, and since many people couldn't make it to this prior one, let's just do it. Even if there's only an eight people turnout, we should still get it started asap.

First team tournament - 3/13. Get hype.

*note to self*

Yukkuri shitte ne:psyduck:

...2/13 or 3/13 D:

I'm voting for random/waseda as well.

btw the 10$ entry fee.. is that for the pot? Maybe its just me but thats a high entry fee /pulls out empty pockets 3:

I like the random teams and waseda format. In an effort to appeal to the community, I would suggest lowering the entry to $6. Same character teams allowed? And what would happen if we had the top two seeded players get in the same team?

Here's the format that, I feel, seems suitable.

NorCal's Blazblue 2v2 Tournament

Format:

- Entry: $6 per team

- Pot Split: Winner takes all; 2nd gets reimbursed

- Team Format: Waseda; random teams

- Elimination: Double Elimination

- Characters: Same Team Characters (?)

I think same charachter teams shouldn't be allowed just for the sake of keeping things interesting. Can you imagine a matchup between 2 Tagers and 2 Hakus? That isn't even a ludicrous possibility either given that there are many Tager and Haku players that go to SVGL.

There has to be some fair splitting system between players.. maybe like random choosing then majority vote of the team fairness after? :psyduck:

Are people that :gonk: about mirror matches? Sure they might not be the most interesting but i'm sure some people are gonna rage when they can't use their main...

I personally dont have a problem with it since I main two's, but other single main's might be :arg:

This looks fine to me, but yeah I'm not sure what to do about same character teams. For the sake of keeping things interesting, we can try to make sure same character teams don't happen but it's not a big deal if they do.

As far as two seeded players being randomed on to the same team, I don't think it matters that much since the entry fee is only $3 per person. We could, however, just set it up so that the top four players or whatever from singles can't be on the same team. I don't want to think too much about it since it's just supposed to be for fun.

just don't allow same character teams if we get some leftovers after the random drawing we just arrange it from there

um i'm p sure we decided we want the first one to be this month don't worry bro it's not like this is being tracked or anything it's really just to level up at the game

You guys could do an ultra-cheap Japanese style single elimination tourney that would be sure to leave lots of whiners. And then use the left over money for GRUDGE MORTGAGE MATCH yes.

Alrighty, 2/13 is now the date for NorCal's, first, BBCS 2v2 tournament. I'll come by 5pm to help set up the tournament.

I'd be very VERY salty :/

Well my biggest problem with mirror matches is just the lack of variety. Frankly, I don't mind mirror matches with other Tagers. I've played against Renegade's Tager many times with my own and its always fun. Its just that it would be some nice to some other characters played for a team Tournament like this. I expect there to be at least some mirror matches given the strange number of Tager and Haku players but also same character teams would cause a lack of strategizing for other teams. It would just be play against the same character twice with slightly different styles.

About the Tournament, would the teams be able to pick who goes first and second for each match? or would it be decided before the whole thing starts and then its set in stone?

You can choose who goes first and second every match.
