Good Morning gents,

As I am progressing though my learning of the game mechanisms.

I find terribly hard to perform air combos.

I was wondering if the is a trick, a technique or a process to help a novice learning how to perform them.

I already try to not mash button, and decompose the combos during my practice sessions. But i just can't perform them.

Ultimatly , which character would you recommend in order to learn how to perform them

You play Tager from what I gather, in which case, the only things resembling an air combo is j.C> J.D, J.Axn and J.B/C/D Land 623C. Trick is with other characters is that this isn't MvC therefore there's no hard and fast trick, who would you prefer to know?

jin is a good character to learn air combos....if you are learning stick. he's perfect to start with... if you play on pad and can't do it well, press up sooner...

first, relax. i hate quote king kai but "staying loose is the key."

second, go into practice/training mode...forget the character you main for the moment...and find the character with the easiest to pull off aerial combo...and practice doing that air combo.

practice just doing your first jump cancel combo...before moving on to your second jump cancel.

for ex:

i learned melty blood aerial combos by taking Sion with full moon into training mode...which i think has the easiest air combo in the game....and started practicing her aerial combo to get a basic sense of the muscle memory involved in mb air combos.

well, at first all i did was mash and make a slopfest of inputs....

but thats because i was trying to do too much, too soon.

so i decided to just learn her first part of her air combo.

so i would go 3C>jc>A>B>C

jc is jump cancel or a quick tap of 8

and i kept it up till i felt comfortable and wasn't having to think about my inputs...till they came out naturally.

then after that i could move on to completing her air combo which is

3C>jc>A>B>C>jc>A>B>C

and i kept practicing, trying to avoid losing patience, and trying to keep my hands from frantic mashing and trying to commit precise inputs.

it takes about a full week of practicing everyday for a couple of hours to get it down..but it'll happen.

once you get it down pact, put it into practice against the cpu in versus mode....low difficulty setting first...to get used to applying your air combo in actual combat...after a week your air combo set ups will feel unforced and more natural.

and finally, after that THEN you can try practicing your air combos WITH your MAIN.

if your main already is the character with the easiest air combos in the game...well lucky you, you'll get things down even sooner.

me, my main was ciel with half moon, and her launcher was 2CC and that kept screwing my first jump cancel up....plus, with half moon properties that allow for reverse beat...my air combos with ciel were sloppy, mashy, horrid, and constantly dropped...after 2 weeks practicing melty blood air combos with Sion....by just switching back my ciel air combos improved dramatically.

i wrote alot cuz i feel your pain...i was there too once....we all were.

lol, i still drop air combos in melty, but its cuz i don't play/practice enough that game. too busy trying to level up in guilty.

oh, and practice your air combo once a week to not get rusty.

Thank you for all the advices :)

I decided to start with Jin as SIne suggested.

I plan on trying to execute the 6C,dash,5C,jC,j2C,214C combo which fairly easy.

Practicing it in the corner in order to get a decent execution then from middle screen

I have a question similar to this.

I play Ragna, and I want to know if you cancel a dash with normal moves because I can't seem to combo any moves after a dash. For example, his combo after a back throw, i think you do 5d dash into 5c, but the dummy always techs before I can hit the 5c.

I don't know if this is the right place to put this but any help is welcome. Or even direct me to the right thread.

Probably just a timing thing. You need to pressing the second 6 of the 66 dash motion as the second hit of 5D strikes in order to give you enough time to land the 5C.
