Iapetus Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 First - I apologize in advance if this information is found elsewhere in the beginner thread of the GGAC specific subforum. I tried to find it on my own and had no such luck. Before I purchase GGAC on XBL, I need to know if I can change the aspect ratio of the game. To be clear, I am well aware the game is always in 4:3, but I would like the option to remove borders and play in FULL SCREEN on my 4:3 RGB CRT. I am not able to confirm this information on my own with just the Demo as the Demo will not let you access Help & Options. On my CRT when I boot up the demo, the borders still appear, squishing the actual playing field. I understand borders are helpful on widescreen/HD televisions, but I play all my fighting games on my RGB monitor, so this is actually a detriment to me if I can not disable it. Is there a way to disable this so I can view the full screen unobstructed? All footage I have found always has borders. Thank you in advance for any responses to my question.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Can you not manually adjust the CRT monitors settings to compensate? I wouldn't be surprised if there's a compatibility mode for 4:3 ratios somewhere, seeing as that was the games original format, but I don't know anything specific. Your 360 is sending 4:3 output to your TV right?
Iapetus Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 I am not home atm (working) so I cannot 100% confirm, but I am pretty darned sure my 360 is formatted to be 4:3 automatically. The Xbox main menu is formatted as such and so is SSF2HDR, which conforms to TV restraints. I an not able to change the overscan or manually adjust the image on my television (it is a medical RGB monitor I use for gaming). If I can adjust or "stretch" the image in the Help/Options of the game itself, that should work. Are we able to do that?
qwerty Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Unfortunately, you're stuck with letterboxing. As someone who used to use CRTs exclusively, I feel your pain. Arcsys doesn't think it's a priority, I guess, since AH3 forces letterboxing as well.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 That seems incredibly sloppy on part of the developers. Doesn't BB support 4:3 ratios? Display Type C I think. Who knows, maybe the spring +R patch will fix it (haha)
TheGreatReptar Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 BB on Xbox doesn't support 4:3 ratios. There's always cutoff iirc.
Fenrir Werwolf Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 BB on Xbox doesn't support 4:3 ratios. There's always cutoff iirc. But BB is made in 16:9, while GG is on 4:3 They should do like SF3 porting, i play it in my crt wonderfuly, while I have to play GG in my hd monitor I think to have read somewhere that arc will fix that in the upcoming patch
Ctrlaltwtf Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 BB on Xbox doesn't support 4:3 ratios. There's always cutoff iirc. What? BB has a "Display Type C" that's a 4:3. I think even some of the arcade cabinets still use 4:3 (less floorspace to stack a bunch of of 4:3 displays next to each other than a bunch of 16:9s) After actually getting home and testing the options menu I found that you can't change the ratio. You can move the HPos/VPos but you can't manipulate the screen size itself.
Iapetus Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Thank you everyone for you responses! I do hope ArcSys considers fixing this issue in the patch as well as the input lag for XBL version. Not sure the rules of this forum, but this discussion can be closed.
