Oiboi Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Hey all, so I've been brushing up on my 3D stuff lately and thought I'd give another go at a GG character. Some of you might remember my ill-fated A.B.A. from a year or two back, well, this time I'm gonna give my main, Zappa, a shot. So come on by, request some tunes to be played, and chat and learn some neat tricks about 3D as I try to (hopefully faithfully) recreate a GG character in 3D! I am sculpting, then retopologizing + editing from there, then uvmapping and texturing. Then the arduous task of RIGGING. Should be fun.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Neat, I usually go the opposite route with box modeling > multires modifier > sculpt on top of a base mesh. The hardest part is staying motivated to actually finish it! Good luck.
Oiboi Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 I did a basic box basemesh for this so I didn't have to sit there building the basic shape for an hour, but the idea is the same. The reason why you want to do sculpting as early as possible is because 1: It's easy 2: You can do 'infinite' amount of details 3: You can nail the basic shape down and retopo in an hour or two, and 4: It's REALLY easy.
