I don't think Azrael is that bad now, however he probably isn't dominant anymore. The lost of sentinel oki kinda sucks and overall Azrael received a lot of nerfs midscreen. Not only does the TCL change hurts, so does the j.D knockback change(even with weakpoint I believe) Top it off with the fact that Growler reversal is gone and Scud Punishment is easy to bait due to a low vertical hitbox, he's definitely not as strong as he was before. Doubt he's C tier, but if you're a competitive player, I suppose it's somewhat understandable to keep playing top tier characters as Nu seems very strong in this version. Hazama still seems to have relatively the same strength as before too.

From what i've seen Azrael still should be A tier material. Perhaps not Upper A tier but lower A tier at least. It is true that he received nerf to midscreen, namely sentinel dump and TCL nerf but really you can still just go back doing the good ol' 5B 2C 6D/3D routes which people for whatever reason seem to have forgotten and just autopilot stuff to TCL. jD nerf is kinda sucky too but since you can combo 5BB to 2D now, i feel that the value of j2D has gone up greatly (and of 2C 3D is still an option) and is not really that bad alternative.

 

Losing growler as a reversal sucks(though i have seen Eesuke, the kamina azrael from acho, do it on wakeup sometimes and for whatever reason it has worked. Scud seems ok as reversal, not sure why SKD said it loses to 2A meaty straight away since i have seen at least 2 times that that is not to case. Makoto whiffed 2A on oki -> Scud hit. Litchi did 2a on oki -> scud hit. Now sure there's an option that opponent just stopped blocking but i would say that the possibility of that is low. We just need to test it out after we get our hands on it to be sure. 

 

All in all, people just need to adapt, find the new stuff for him and he's gonna be fine. The tier lists are also quite early and will naturally develop so we will still have to see. I might also remind you that dogura did say "RIP" Jin earlier but Jin is fleshing out to be a really solid and good character once again. Top players are still just humans so knee-jerk reactions can happen.

I agree that he is still definitely relevant. Early tier lists are always finicky, I remember it saying Rachel is C tier but I'm not really certain that is true. If anything, some of Azrael's match ups probably went down from 5.5-4.5 in his favor to 5-5 and he might have gained new bad match ups. Some characters simply got better in this version as well, so there isn't as much of a gap in some match ups as compared with before.

Yeah he is about A tier still i think. the biggest nerf is in fact TCL wallbounce gone, but at the same time we got some good buffs so it's okay.

Dogura im sorry but ur so lol sometimes. This is twice now. Azrael is fine guys. he still is probably i say the same tier as before, just that others around him have change.

 

Azrael will have better MU's thanks to the new growler and 236B. honestly you shouldn't pay attention to the tier's IMO until everyone knows what they are doing. Probably around Christmas is when we can start looking at the cast and see how they stack up.

Yeah TCL did get nerfed midscreen no doubt. However it got a really big buff in corner and i feel i has not been explored enough yet. Also i saw 3D TCL 22C work from about starter position to corner. If i was not going mad at that point then azrael still might have combos from TCL even without ending straight away in corner. 

 

Also i doubt SKD is lying. I did see bang whiff 2A on oki too but it might have been done early so scud didn't punish. It's hard to gauge these things from just videos =/.

if only we had the frame data for Sucd :( most of what i said about TCL was the midscreen stuff. the corner stick looks amazing lol. i have seen combos of 5bb TCL 5b 2c 6d 214d 5a jabc jd work with an upper weakpoint and then go into unblockable. about 7-8k. i think the real reason they add wallstick was for the 2c nerf.

 

also the wall stick can happen at lots of heights so i think what moves we can get after it change depending on the height. For example if u are in the corner and do 5bb tcl the wall stick will be very low 2 the ground. however if you are midscreen and do 5b 3c 22c 5b TCL the wall stick should be much higher. i also beleive that they can't tech till they hit the ground but im not sure about that.

so for some reason i have been having trouble with people disrespecting. IE upbacking,rolling,quick get up, stuff like this. i do like TCL 66 2147c and sometimes they roll out but sometimes i catch them and i can't combo cause the are 2 far away.

 

also characters that can just sit out behind stuff (koko and rachel in particular) are giving me trouble getting in. koko just sits behind the 22b and its a stand off for 10 sec and rachel just flys away and just shoots stuff (not to mention wind tech but damn it sucks) how do i approach these type of characters without getting hit in the face. 236b can't really help me with rachel cause she is always in the air. thx

Hello, i'm thinking to learn Azrael, is there anyone who plays him on dualshok? Is that possible to properly execute his moves with it? I have ds3 and cheap stick, don't know which to choose for him.

In short whatever works best for you. i have played him on stick and ds3 pad b4. whatever works best for you i advise for you. it's hard to go wrong with either choice

i mean i has some bad things but mostly good stuff. it's not that big of a nerf IMO we can still do RC jc stuff after it so that is good.

 

also i saw a double weak point corner combo with growler RC 214d 5a jabc jd. that looks like the thing 2 do with 50 meter and no weak point.

I think I just got even MORE temptation not to switch to Arakune in CP2.0

Not sure if this has been asked before, but what's the point of doing 6B instead of 5C is valiant charger combos?

Not sure what was up with that OD BHD-RC-Sentinel though, guessing it was just for trolling purposes.

6B is better now cause we can get loops off of it. it does more damage than the 5c loops but is harder than the 5c loops.

 

OD BHS RC dump was for max damage so far. this will probably change once the game comes out though.

 

 

also lots of people are changing mains for 2.0 and in BBCP in general. i don't see it coming state side soon so ur probably going to b playing 1.1 for a while.

Well, that's a shame......

I was kinda already thinking that though, I wish him luck with whatever new character he picks up.

lots of people are switching. im not that surprised really. lots of people either A. switched characters like dogura and tes and others. or B. Droped the game in general like gall. the hype for 2.0 really wasn't there and people don't like the changes.

Just when we thought IAD routes are gone, 2C RC comes to the rescue. It looks harder to drop than before actually, since it seems like you do it instantly(like 1.0 214D RC)

Edit: Actually requires somewhat strict timing. You gotta pretty much RC instantly, IAD instantly, but delay j.C just enough. In the end it's kinda similar.
