Back to your original question: +R was my first FG, starting last November. I now have 250+ hrs in it, 100 in Xrd, 50 in Strive, and some change in other games. Despite often being touted as fundamentally different, much of what I learn in one game will transfer over almost seamlessly to another.
Go play Footsies if all you wanna do is build fundies or whatever. If you want to play fighting games as actual video games made for entertainment, then stop worrying about how quickly the game will improve your fundies and just play fighting games.
