  1. Technically, Every time nu impales herself with ranga, they're both on their way out because they are recognizing their deaths so their life link wouldn't be any good, the,y just fall into the cauldron before they can actually die. Terumi was not stalling for time, at least not totally, he had relius kill him so he would be able to infiltrate takamagahara and drop off the supervirus that took them out of the picture.
  2. While a part of me would enjoy learning more about Azreal, I feel like making him a god would seriously cheapen the most charming aspect of his character. That he's just a dude who can punch with force equivalent to a meteor impact, and he doesn't much care for all the bullshit going around him. Even if he's aware of the ins and outs of what's going on, so long as he can get a good scrap in with these super powered jackasses running around trying to reshape the world in their image, and subsequently introduce their face to concrete, it's a good day for him.
  3. They're making a joke about Invoker. He's a character from a moba who's schitck is that he has up to any combination of three fire/ice/air orbs that he can swap between to alter his stats and then one spell that causes whatever combination of three orbs he has at the time to combine into a spell. Quas and Exort are the names of his Ice and Fire orbs respectively. the corresponding spell for nine would be her fairy, incidentally.
  4. God hand's tracking is delayed by a fair bit so in theory you might be able to roll out of it(Have we seen god hand shut down rolls? I don't recall any instances, at lest) Delaying your recovery might also work. Nine could delay the god hand to catch you on the second hit of the plant, but she probably wouldn't be able to follow up on that. It doesn't look like corner black hole electric boogaloo, at least. We'll just have to wait for more testing.
  5. While Technically this isn't arcade story specifically, this could have some neat story implications. If nothing else it's something to throw on that ever expanding 'what the fuck is Amane's deal' pile. Naoto appears to use his hunter's eye on Amane (I'm not sure if he does this for anyone else, but I haven't seen him do so...?) in their pre-fight sequence and it displays this: http://i.imgur.com/Upv7mtj.png I've already tried my hands at deciphering it to no avail. I can't find a symbol that matches up with that first symbol, but maybe I'm just not trying hard enough. I also have not read the Bloodedge experience novels, so my understanding of hunter's eye is limited to the wiki (and it doesn't say much). He also says something after the fact, but I don't speak moonrunes, failing any attempts to translate the symbols themselves, what Naoto says might be able to shed some light if we can get a translation: https://youtu.be/3U6Z4Xiy0j4?t=1298
  6. God, when I first learned about Azreal I thought he was going to be boring, but the more they play up how he tears through people/magical inter-dimensional soul labyrinths with nothing but his fists and grit the more I can't help but love the guy. Bonus points for all the little comments he makes that implies he knows a fair bit about what's going on but couldn't care less so long as he gets to pound meat sacks and tussle with someone worth half a damn. It's kinda weird/contradictory that Nine wishes for Ragna to be the one to have his desire come true, while also advising Azreal to go ahead and flip Ragna's localized apocalypse switch, since we know from the CS bad ending that doing that pretty much results in Ragna biting it.
  7. Makoto survived a quick jaunt, though she did need a tether to make it back edit: didn't read the whole thread oops. Whatever. I don't think it's wise to assume kokone is always right regardless. She's been proven wrong before.
  8. I prefer English for most of the BB cast. only exceptions being CP bang, which is a tragedy, and Celica, which is the voice acting equivalent of being hammered with a thousand gamma ray bursts per syllable. I'm kinda annoyed they swaped hazama/terumi's VA on us. Erholtz is good, but he doesn't have quite the right touch to do the terumi voice effectively and plays it far too straight for my liking, while the previous VA sounded like he was just having fun while delivering the verbal beatdowns on our favorite little punching bags while still delivering hazama's smug asshole lines well.
  9. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, I really don't think a 40 damage nerf to air combos with the super finish is going to matter much. Plus we have +400 for the reversals and CH combos with CS as the starter(yeah it's unsafe but you just gotta be judicious in it's use), so I think it's a net buff overall. However, fuck the loss of C->D gatlings, that's rude as fuck. (unless the increased drive speed can compensate for that.)
  10. Hibiki seems like a character who is going to provoke some highly varied opinions, a lot of his gameplay involves tricking the opponent and putting them into borderline 50/50 situations. I think his drive is just one of those cases where it would be insanely difficult for him to be BAD just because it can be used in a variety of ways to both move and zone, kind of like Hazama's drive in that sense, and we've seen how good Hazama is at staying relevant. Plus I think the combos we're seeing are pretty far from optimized. Players have only recently really started using his drive in combos, and even then I think it's being under-used to some extent
  11. BBCP1.1 Amane is the best. BBCPEX feels like twice the effort for half the reward most of the time (though aspects of CPEX Amane are great, as a whole he's pretty awful in comparison in terms of fun). Rip 6B. BBCPEX lambda on the other hand is way more fun than CS interactions. Exiga Nail really meshes well with lambda overall and all the oki she has gives me a little breathing room in pressure. Only complaint is that Crescent saber being no good as a starter without a rapid cancel or OD is total bunk, while Nu gets nightmare mindgames and combo starters with her crescent saber.
  12. Lambda or Amane, depending on how things work out, not enough info to say for sure right now, possibly both. If I main lambda I'll probably not sub Amane because Amane has always been one of those characters who really not sub material. Interested in trying out Hibiki though, I think I'll try to sub him definitely. I love super mobile characters.
  13. Agrro is like.. THE way to play Amane though. Any other form and you're playing with half a character, lmao. Also, some rewatching some of the videos nice and slow, an I noticed that airdash into j2b looks really fast? Maybe it's just me, but check it; https://youtu.be/jL9OkPXLIKc?t=793 Looks quick enough to be a crossup fakeout. I can't remember if it's always been this fast, and I'm at uni so I can't check, but... mite b cool. Has anyone mentioned if Ginga can be canceled with... anything? Hariken, maybe? I have yet to see anyone cancel it in the loketests.
  14. Please no more Jins. Just for the love of god no more Jins. I get the freaking matchup already, I'd like to be able to learn the other 27 now. Does not help that playing against Jin is akin to pulling teeth this version.
  15. Airdash for the cross up, the hitbox extends behind you since it fans out to cover like 3/4 of a circle. It's a cute little trick, I'll admit, but really not useful since crescent saber can't confirm into diddly squat. That being said, it's great for disrespecting scrubs.
  16. Trying to use lambda's drive to plow through nu's drive does not work very well on netplay and I have learned this the hard way. Shows me for trying to assert decisive scientific dominance. IAD feels clunky and it makes my 6B starter combos feel sad. Trying to do like any of amane's combos against anything lower than a 2 bar feels legitimately impossible.
  17. I'll be really sad if our projectiles went down a level. I like plowing through weaker projectiles it make me feel powerful. I'm fine if it's just spike chaser or something though.
  18. Have you ever found yourself thinking you'd love to see a solid hour of Amane gameplay but you know that's it's a pipe dream because Amane players are an endangered species and most of us live in captivity/wildlife reserves? Today, the dream lives.
  19. If teams get a special distortion, I would absolutely demand that team Hazama and Relius have special interaction astrals where they killsteal each other. Either a Giant snake plows through Relius' dungeon(leaving Relius untouched and sitting ponderously in his comfy chair obv.) or Ignis kidnaps you a second before Hazama's snake eats you, after which Hazama loudly complains about Relius being a killstealer.
  20. I'd be down for team baraboys tag teaming me. If this becomes a thing then we can finally have the full blown clone smackdown between noel, lambda, nu and mu as they compete for ragna's sister complex. I wouldn't put it past Mori to throw in a few more new characters into the final battle. A cursory glance at the npc characters we have, Izanami, Jubei, Nine, are obviously combat effective and eligible, Jin implies Hibiki is around his level, A quick glance at the wiki makes Kajun and Mai not entirely out of the question either, but, really, it's a little early to say anyone is definitely going to be on the roster or not. Except for with Linhua. Linhua's not going to be playable. Never.
  21. It's almost like Amane's unique mechanics require unique answers in order to deal with them. Crazy, right? The point of his drive is that if he can get to level 3, your defensive options are more limited against him than you are against other fighters while he is actively pressuring you. Amane need to keep momentum in order to keep that up, and he has to eat your barrier first, which has always taken a good three or so drills to completely chew through the barrier gauge unless you're being wasteful with it. You deal with his drive when he isn't actively drilling you. Amane's has no safe drill into drill blockstrings, and drill upkeep is by no means a free action. It's entirely on you if you're letting Amane do that. Amane got rewarded for outplaying you, and conversely, you're being punished for letting Amane control the match.
  22. If you're honest to god in a situation where this happens against Amane then that's more of a problem with you than it is a problem with amane's mechanics, because really, what you're describing is by no means easy for an Amane player to achieve. Level 3 drill does slightly more on block than taking the hit by about a few hundred points of damage or so, but you can combo off of of 5D, 2D, and j.6D even without counterhit for more overall net damage, especially in the case of 2D; 2D->236A->j.6D->236B->j.6C->236C [~4.5k]. Granted, raw 2Ds are hard as fuck to land since the range is so awful, but still. only real outlier is 6D. Never normal block 6D if amane has no drill meter. Just take the hit.
  23. Amane has some neat tricks for dealing with hakumen since his long range normals don't have projectile properties so hakumen can't cut them, and I think his 6B is pretty much immune to hakumen's drive because of how it causes amane to go into the air and back, at the very least, I've never had a 6B punished by haku's drive.(might be different in cpex since I don't have it yet) I almost never use drill against hakumen because it's a close range skill with projectile property, and you can kinda just dance around him for most of the match while slapping him with normals until you can fish out a decent confirm. It's a odd matchup, really. Edit: Just did a bit of testing (which i really should have done before posting but w/e) and 6B can be punished if you're close enough.
  24. Personally the changes to Amane's 5B and 6B are real dealbreakers, I loved those guys like family. It felt like they looked at Amane, figured out some of his major weaknesses, and instead of buffing them, drastically changed them to exist as something that's piratically unrecognizable from what they were in 1.1. Like, yeah, that'd be alright if they were also overall stronger options but that's really just not the case as far as I'm concerned.
  25. At least they seem to agree on Jin and Nu being fucking ridiculous.
