The issue with re-scaling the backgrounds is because the sprites themselves are naturally smaller than the playing field. They scroll less in-game, and thus there is no reason to make them big. This makes it slightly difficult to produce a "background image," as I have to make it fit. I had some serious issues with the Colony, as the foreground bridge and pillars, mid-ground ropes, and background had to line up JUST SO. Also, Hell was deceptive. it is made up of very few sprites once you remove the animation, and unfortunately the very background does not hold up as well resized. I chose a frame of animation with a pretty high amount of blood/mist on the shoreline.
