@Star&Buster's: The closest one we have is the one in Opry Mills Mall, I believe. You wanna talk about success and profitability, THAT'S it right there. They can afford the high as F rent of huge malls they tend to be placed in and have lots of huge, deluxe machines. It was the first shop that opened back up after the flood, too! Resistance to upgrade actually caused a big controversy over Arcana Heart a couple years back for SBO if I remember correctly. @Volpe/Star: You can feel like I called you a dumbass if you want, if you crave victimization, but I didn't. I love you guys, I just don't feel like talking shop every time a question comes up.

Something being successful isn't the same thing as being profitable. An arcade doesn't necessarily view games and new content the same way as players do. An arcade cabinet isn't something you can just plug up to the Internet and download a patch for, you know that, right? Now, it's getting better, but in most cases arcade cabinets are not just a box with a console inside. It's a perf board with an Fton of wires, you know this too, right? To perform an upgrade, no matter how minuscule, the cabinet has to be shut down for an undetermined amount of time while the upgrade is performed, parts are exchanged, and all that stuff. I think you're underestimating how much up front cash it takes to do this, in addition to the downtime which equals money lost if they do it during business hours, or if they do it after close/before open the extra wages to pay the operator or technician. Now consider that there is a row of these of varying qualities; there are standard cabs, deluxe cabs, etc. If its not cost-effective to perform an update and it can't make back the money to at least break even, let alone be a source of income, it will bury the establishment. Additionally consider that not every arcade is this huge, double-decker, triple-decker that a lot of people have in their heads that that's the only thing that exists in Japan. A lot of places are Game Galaxy size or smaller, and a lot of places are a little larger. They come in all sizes. I would be wholly unsurprised if maybe 10, 30% of all the bb cabs are upgraded. I'm not going to explain it. I'm on Jackie's side with aquapazza. I watched a good long stream of it and I could barely stand it while eating some tasty Peanut Butter Crunch and things do TONS of damage. I don't understand how it can be fun, but then again i've also said "watching videos is the new 'I heard' ", so what do I know. Aquapazza also has an SBO slot, AGAIN, but from what I understand it's the only possible game for that slot in the first place. (The Exanimu slot or something) I can also understand BlazBlue CS II being played more than Extend because this is an arcade poll, not a console poll. Arcades cost MONEY. And they also cost MONEY to upgrade cabinets. It isn't in the interest of less wealthy shops and establishments to shell out a ton of money to upgrade their BlazBlue cabinet(s) to Extend or purchase new Extend cabinets when people will still play CSII.

Maaaan, you need to slide those off requests as soon as you know about them. That way this S won't happen. I agree with Papstr though, about Buster Wolf-ing the manager. I don't agree with saying he got sick after being denied time off. I and any other manager would fire him, plus it's not cool because then it causes strain on the workforce that you left there because now they're shorthanded that day.

Update for AnimeSoutheast July13-15. Tournaments will not have entry fees, and will instead have non-monetary prizes as the spoils. What will be given out and to what placings, I have no idea. Just figured i'd post up and mention that you don't have to shell out extra money if you came to the convention.
