I think that's kind of an issue with BB as a whole, it's a bit gimmick heavy, and the top tier characters practically shit damage. I actually don't like easy wins (despite my occasional rage). If my character is good I'll get bored. I think BBCS2 will make the game much better in that you will actually have to think about more than what to do with a hit. Online improves mixup alot though... Also, i'm tired of being comboed for 20 seconds or doing a 50 hit combo. That's just like playing guitar hero or watching TV. The important stuff is what happens between combos (not entirely true).
