Jingai Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Just curious because I've watched a decent amount of slayer vids and I've recently decided to play him (5 days ago) and I've gone online a few times. But I have no idea what the properties of either dandy step is. Like in neutral I'm sure it has I-frames against strikes but in oki situations I can't tell if it's throw immune or not. Seriously I can't tell if people just overly respect slayer or if they are just disrespectful af. I get a mixed bad, either they mash on throw and it works or they get counterhit. With Dandy step how should I be using it to oki? Are any of the follow ups throw invuln or am I just going for wildly unsafe throwable oki every time? Checked the wiki and it's just unedited for much of slayer's dandy step and followups and really only has info on his frame advantage. Please halpĀ
Dandy Chippu Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Dandy has strike invul from frames 1-3 wnd can be back dash canceled On oki you can dandy and -Whiff Under pressure into its late (meaty I believe is throw invuln and early leads back into knockdown) -whiff 2k>c.s>2d -Whiff UP dash through, not safe but viable. -Yrc to eat inputs - helter You get the idea Slayer gets respect during pressue because should the opponent guess wrong they die (ogawa guessed wrong twice against adam. 2 CH its lates=GGs) In neutral you can dandy to close distance or GTFO if you yrc it. Its kind of difficult to explain the full useage of Dstep but here you go. As I`m not the best slayer feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this stuff

Melo Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Only the startup of IL is throw invul. A meaty IL can be thrown so you want to time the IL to hit non-meaty. Timed too late though and you can get grabbed. I always go for non meaty first to check if they mash grab. And note you will be using p dandy on oki. On CH you can do 6H k dandy CWH 6H p dandy CWH j.kd for like 200. For the meaty set-up you can link into 2k and knockdown again or go for more damage if you have meter
Dandy Chippu Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Ok thanks for clarifying that, I'm always confused by which to use in which situation.

That way it hits a throw mash because their HS or OS will come out as IL becomes active but if I time it to be none meaty does that mean that someone mashing 2P or 5P will interrupt me? Ā Sorry I'm asking so many questions I'm just a bit confused as to what I should expect someone to do during oki
fogelstrom Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 You can time it perfectly to blow up throw os. So both throw and moves. The window is only 2F vs 3F normals such as Sol 5K. But yeah the gist of it is un-meaty loses to mashing (if not timed well) and meaty can be grabbed.
MacArthur Blunts Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 You can time IL so it is meaty and throw invul now :3
fogelstrom Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 You can time IL so it is meaty and throw invul now :3 What change has made this possible? Isn't active frames always supposed to be throwable unless you're airborne?
MacArthur Blunts Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 More hitstun on it. You can meaty it so you can get 2k, but not c.s. the c.s route is throwable I believe. Yeah I just did a quick test. I can't throw myself out of it and the 2k combos.

I can't throw myself out of it and the 2k combos. I understand but it's not a meaty if you don't hit the active frames on their first available frame on wakeup. Still it's good to know you can time an un-meaty IL and still link 2K. *EDIT* Isn't IL +5 on crouch hit now? That would leave you at best as +4 for un-meaty. So I'm still lost unless they added throw invul to the active frames. But kinda seem too strong.
Elemenope Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Hmm, I seem to recall trying to throw during active frames of meaty IL when 1.1 came out and getting CH because of it, but I may be misremembering. I'll try again after work.
Loli-Zero Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It was a stealth buff. It appears to be totally throw invuln now, even during active frames. So you can do meaty IL for 2K confirms or regular IL for c.S confirms and both are unthrowable. Delayed IL is still useful because it will blow up fuzzy throw timings that allow people to block regular IL timings and throw if you did shenanigans, and even if you get a regular hit you can still combo with c.S Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
