This is my first Guilty Gear game, also im a new to Sticks (I got HRAP 4 Kai) but I actually got used to it pretty quick, I heared stories that it will take months, but after like 1.5 weeks I played around 20 hours during that time period (I guess) Offline (Practice/Arcade/Versus) and I feel my muscle memory with the stick is very good, the only "move" im not doing constantly is IAD which I can execute in like 70% of the times.

-When you practice combos in training mode, do you enable the auto block after first hit and recovery?

-Is there any uses for Taunt/Respect? or is it completely useless and I can unbind it.

-Is it recommended to bind Burst macro ? (I do) im playing a customed Type-A

My layout.

K--S--HS--Taunt
P--RC--D--Burst

-Should I switch Taunt with a Blitz Macro?

Because of the delay input and lag in Online, does it necessery to master the "over the top" combos? (you know what I mean) If I will put the time I'm sure I will be able to execute them, the question is, are they practical? with the lag?

Im maining Chipp and im only using B&B stuff and it's works kind of fine for me, I won few matches, and lost more, but the lag was terrible, so I can't really take those matches seriously, I fought players with like 1000+ matches mostly Millia and Elphelt, I will try to optimize and upgrade my Internet connection...

Im also planning on learning Sin as my secondary, I freaking love this character... how is he in terms of difficulty in comparison to Chipp? all I know is that his dmg is far higher than Chipp's from what i've tested, and he's taking less dmg which is really good online

sorry for the long post :)

I have recovery on and auto block after first hit

yeah you can unbind it

whatever you want. i don't. i also don't have an RC button. i play with the same layout you do but with no taunt, RC, or burst

depends on what you want

the best part about netplay is to learn MU and have fun with friends. learn what you want and do what you want. this games netcode is really good i feel like and you can do about 95% of combos i feel like. personal opinion and i play Millia, sol, faust, and zato mostly

are u on a wired connection? are you playing people near where you live?

Sin is really easy. i would say a bit easier than Chipp (IMO easy as well).

sorry for the long post :)

i would like to stress that everything i said is my opinion. feel free to disagree with me but don't b and ass about it.

You can enable the block after first hit if you wish, it's useful when practicing links / harder combos.

Basically no, unless you wanna piss off your opponent. Using taunt after winning a round results the opponent getting 50% from round start. I usually unbind it myself.

You can decide the macros yourself, I myself use only p+k+s macro for rc's. Since bursting, blitzing and FD only require two buttons I don't need macros for them.

As for over the top combos, try to learn combos for different situations, counter hit combos for punishing, short combos for kd's etc. Every character has their own advanced combos but those won't do much if you can't play neutral/defense well so. Playing a couple of matches here and there with a bad connection won't help you get better, try to play longer sets against with either local players offline or online with under 5f delay.

Sin isn't as pressure / mixup heavy as Chipp as he excels at poking and frame trapping. With Sin it's important to learn to use his 6p anti-air and his pokes far s  + special beak driver well to your advantage. Sin also has his hunger meter so you have to pay attention to your resources + tension meter.

im not a chip player so i really can't answer this 100% accurate but i think you should learn them. i feel like Chipp has easy enough combos to do in netplay but i don't play him i just saw what combos he can do. they honestly look easy enough so you should have no trouble IMO

Yes his basic combos are really easy to do even with lag, but his combos that require wall cling not so much...

but I still haven't started on learning Jump Installs... are they essential? at least for Chipp and Sin?

I'd like to humbly add that while Chipp may be a little execution-wise easier to play, at the speed you'll be playing at and considering he gets blown up for making mistakes, may not be the best choice for a beginner who's still trying to learn the mechanics of the game. You really have to have a firm grasp of the situation and quickly make decisions based off that. That being said, Sin's defense modifier is 1.04x vs Chipp's 1.30x. So you'll take a significant amount of reduced damage compared to Chipp.

I personally like having blitz shield on one button so I can react faster to projectiles and get blown up regardless.

Yes, Chipp's poor defense is the main reason for why I want to learn a secondary character... I chose Sin because I like Sin's design (gameplay/look/story wise), and the fact that his dmg is insanely high, at least in comparison to what i've got used to while playing Chipp lol.

also the fact that he is easier to play than the debating characters I wanted as my secondary Zato or Slayer.

If you're maining Chipp and getting blown up is why you want to learn a secondary, you're not really going to learn and master Chipp. You gotta use his gimmicks and mobility options not just as an in, but for your defensive options. Sin's damage is high but he's notoriously straight-forward. You'll do well against scrubs but you're not really learning anything. It seems more like you're looking for easy wins.

Im not getting blown up dude... most of the matches I lost were really close, I just said that because of my poor connection with the NA servers (Europe lobbies are mostly dead) im getting a lot of hits that I will never get if it was an offline/good connection game... I can barely do 41236H YRC and 63214S, because of the annoying input delay im getting, .

So I want a character that will last longer and will able to trade hits better...

Easy wins are the last thing im looking for man... if I would, I should have picked the highest tier character and practice him to death (is it Zato?)...

Hell, if I would have look for easy wins I wouldn't play a niche game like Guilty Gear... the reason im playing this game is because I think that it's the best fighting game by far, everything about it is amazing, except the fact that the European community is dead by looking at the lobbies.... :(

Again im maining Chipp because he is the character I like the most, and even if he was a garbage tier I would have still main him, so easy wins are not my thing, especially when this game is so deep, cheap wins are not rewarding at all...

I wish the next installment of Xrd will get a European version... I can't believe how such a great fighter that is 10 times better than MKX (IMO) selling so poorly im not expecting MKX numbers of course, but at least a number that is close to Blazblue...

I really can't help you much with the netplay issue.

Tier list =/ ease of use. Most Zato players I've seen actually get blown up because of this train of thought. Zato is a great character, but you have to put a lot of time and effort to be able to utilize all of the tools at his disposal.  He has no reversals or many defensive options so even if you chose Zato, you'd still have to know the strategy of the game.

Do all his challenges. Look up tutorial videos. Watch how other people play, and compare it to your own. See what mistakes your making, and what you're doing right. Build on that.

The European community is somewhat small but most people know each other personally from events, so they arrange player matches instead of playing lobbies. If you're looking to play matches vs players from German speaking territories for example, join #hardedge at quakenet (irc).
