ab541 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Hello im a new player to the guilty gear series and im currently playing the version X2 reload through steam, but im struggling with the execution of roman cancels. I can pull them of sometimes but other times im finding it tough to actually press three of the face buttons at once. Im using a standard dualshock PS3 contoller to play and im trying to find a way to consitently press three of the four command buttons without shifting my hand into an awkward positon ie; keeping it in the same place. Currently im trying to use my whole thumb to press the three buttons, but i often find myself only pressing two of the face buttons and not three. Anyone have any tips for me as im pretty bad at Roman Cancelling and was wondering if any experienced players would be willing to give me some pointers. Thanks (:
Shadowfury333 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Bind the "P K S" macro to something (R2 isn't a bad choice, Respect has no gameplay function) and use that. If you really want to use the face buttons, slide your thumb over the left 3 or right 3 and press them all with your entire thumb. If you are okay with rebinding functions but don't want to use macros, put HS on R1 and Dust on R2, then you have your thumb and index finger to RC with.
Poultrygeist Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Yeah as a fellow pad player I just set it to a single button, preferably R2. I'm playing on a Hori FC4, IDK about you though.
ab541 Posted June 10, 2015 Author Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks for the advice guys, although for some reason i cant seem to bind anything to the mutli button inputs in the key config menu as it does not allow me to set anything for these inputs/stays blank. Do you possiliby know how to fix this issue? and also im just interested if you know what tournament / top level guilty gear players use to perform roman cancels. Do they bind three inputs to a single button like you were suggesting or do they hit three single buttons manually like the way i was trying to do. Thanks. Edit: Forget what i was saying about the multi commands, managed to fix it . Just me being stupid and trying to set a button that was already in usage lol.
Pomparomp Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 I never single fighting game, top tier players use whatever they find most comfortable. Macro functions, button layout aren't something worth worrying about unless you're not comfortable with what you're currently using.
Shadowfury333 Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 Most top-level players use a stick (not necessary, but very popular), which means each button has a different finger on it, so RCs are just a matter of pushing down with 3 fingers simultaneously. Good to know you got macros working, though. Those help a lot when playing on pad.
Poultrygeist Posted June 11, 2015 Posted June 11, 2015 KBNova used pad and so did Latif at one point :U
