zaeris Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 dont be suprised, those same character who have to rc to get dont need wind more rc'ing to do damage and stay in. Listen to how that sounds, the only time i can recharge when nu dead angle's, bursts, or the wind is used up during pressure or blocked mix-ups is by sitting there and allowing her to do what she does because im am powerless to stop it her now.....it's FREE for nu to always get to pressure rachel and that pressure may just cost you the match, at this point her heat gauge is steady charging while she spams on you for free.Ordinarly, when i use to wind to catch my opponent it comes with a pumpkin and frog there to help prolong pressure and regen wind...you dont get that in this match. And i know how to get in, staying in is more crucial in this match-up then ever...and nu's 3c has godly range and she can forward dash off it. Also, to no suprise nu doesnt neccesarily have to play keep away from rachel, her attacks swing out at a faster rate then rachels, and her normals all have more range then rachels do..after shes done shooting normalls on your block she full screen again because of good mobilty on ground and air...its whatever though...i would complain bout arakune but had no idea u could place a frog on a homing cloud and take it out xD lol i was beating him the old fashion way, i just dont get why they would give a character teleportation like that with little start-up and no recovery on reappearance. I had written an entire paragraph on burst baiting before but decided not to since it wasn't ask of before. You do have to realise that in many of rachel's matches people are frequently using barrier to avoid her pressure/mixup ectera. hence burst becomes more baitable and to a point you can just destroy nu after one KD, combo and build bar. Bait burst into rc and go into BBL for the finish. Rachel never had trouble with baiting burst except in corner sitiation when you summon forg which is a burstable point but you could always opt to do loberia B into BBL. So from my perspective I don't believe rachel has a problem with staying in since the opponent is more or less depleting his/her barrier bar guarding aginst your mix up. If they burst early which is when burst is quick then you have a situation that fits your discription. As for teleport... well its just like every other game (akuma sf4).. using a higher level yomi and predict it. since mid screen act puslar is reactable into punish being negative. As a run away tool rachel can chase.. beside there are funky wind option rachel can take to move around swords. Her real issue is Nu having more complete combo which are large and forces her to always tech to avoid said combo. Side note: there are other ways to recharge wind bar... out of the many option people can chose to end their combo into ground okizeme (tensionless or 1+wind usuage) into frog pressure or combo into BBL+pole which gives back a lot of wind. the only thing i will agree with that it is a bad match up and two rachel needs to work harder for said match up which means zero since its the same for everyone.. I know a lot of ragna I've played against complain when rachel can just out zone them into damage. If there is anything really you just accept if you're being out zoned.
Ryock Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I seriously need help on this matchup. I think I'm getting better, but it's just not good enough. I feel rather helpless, and if you'll talk to people who face me, I play a more patiently oriented Rachel, as I'm a natural turtle. So I have no problems blocking and evading all day waiting for openings. However... the fact that I'm getting punished for blocking, for pumpkin summoning, for frogs, for lobelias, for MOVING or even thinking is getting really aggrivating, so I'm hoping for some tips or something. Just having a hard time finding an opening, and every time I think I see one I either don't get it in, or get punished for it by a 30%+ heat-less combo... the way I see it against Nu, Rachel gets three shots and she's out. Halp. I need a lot of it.
toanenadiz Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 If you are playing Nu's online, almost all of them will be spamming 5DD->4DD->236D, so you need to learn how to instant block the second hit of 5DD and punish them while they are doing 4DD. Depending on your distance, you can also gain ground when they are using 236D. You can't summon anything (except for maybe lobelia, which sometimes trade), unless you get a knockdown. Like everyone else, you only get 2 or 3 chances at Nu so you have to make them count, although Rachel has it easier than other characters. The ideal solution for you to ask one of the good Nu on DL for some practice time. After fighting them, you shouldn't have a problem against us scrub Nu. Or you could use Nu for some time to learn her dead spots.
Kuuhaku Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Just to clarify- the match up of Rachel v. V-13 in CT is really nothing like the match up of Rachel v. Lambda in CS. You do have to be really patient. And if you're losing to Nus online- it's not your fault. Lag is pretty much a free win for V-13 since all her swords are safe and it's pretty tough to instant block. Even on really good connections you're looking at 5 frames + lag. V-13 is much much easier to deal with offline (though still an annoying match up). Basically, use opportunities when you can to get out pumpkin, bait her 2Cs, block a lot and get used to falling asleep while holding back and waiting for your wind to regain. V-13 is just as weak to j2C as every other character is, so make good use of that. If you get her in the corner, harass her and try to bait the burst. If you manage that, you win. You really don't want to get hit by her burst since you have to do the whole song and dance of trying to catch her again, and that game is a lot easier for her than it is for you. So I guess you could look at this as an opportunity to learn how to burst bait. But... yeah... other than burst, once she's in the corner just do one of Rachel's crazy damage setups into 3 rod BBL and down she goes.
