kona Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 We didn't have a Capture Card to record matches so I was trying to buy one until Zoob gave me his. Now I'm trying to figure it out so during our daily meetups (In Vernon, CT) we can record the matches we have. Hopefully then we don't have to record our poverty games that only Tales and Zoob would be good at.
Mindgam3 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Just making a quick post here, since I'm new to the forum Doctor Faust, welcome! I don't know where you live, but perhaps you can make it out to Vernon, CT one of these days for ACT (yet to be announced), or our neighborly Fight Night held every Friday if you are interested in playing some casual matches/tournaments. Also, to make a note on our matches, you were not bad. However, what you had working against you is that I have a fair amount of experience fighting Faust's, so I know my theoretical situations very well for that particular match-up. However, you will find success as you learn how to zone with Faust, since Slayer is zoned easier than most characters (lack of projectile/short-range normals). Just keep with it and you'll get better, trust me! P.S. The worst thing you can do as a Faust player is be predictable with item-tosses. Learn to mix those up with your normal keep-away game and know how to press the advantage with your items. I can't tell you how many times I get hit out of a combo because of a mini-Faust/Robo-Ky/Potemkin.
Vyers Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Just making a quick post here, since I'm new to the forum. I was the Faust at the Anime Boston tournament, and it was a really fun introduction into competitive Guilty Gear! Sure, Nazgul temporarily removed my will to live and Mindgam3 finished me off... As Mindgam3 said if you live within driving distance of Vernon you should definitely check out Friday Fight Nights and the various tourneys happening at Battlegrounds. I also got my first tourney experience at Anime Boston back in 2006. Con tourneys are a nice way to ease into the competitive scene (when they're not run on laggy TV's, like the Friday tourney). I'm not sure if you noticed me, but I was the Baiken player with the head phones. On another note, A3Religion wants some Baiken practice before EVO, so I'm considering making a trip to New York sometime next month. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in tagging along if it does happen?
kona Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I need also need Baiken and Johnny practice (as well as general experience). If you don't mind stopping off at MA, I'll tag along with you. When you do plan on heading out for that?
komradekraig Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hey everybody, first post here on dustloop. I've been lurking for about a year now and I've recently tried to become more active in the scene. I live in NH and I'm trying to find some people to level up with in BB--you know, ride that hype train into CS. I put it away for about 3 months but it drew me back in recently. I've got a pretty mean tager but none of my friends have put any time into the game. Also, we host a gathering for casuals in Nashua, NH every other Thursday and we are looking to grow that. Right now we have a number of brawl/melee and sf4 players that show up, but we've got plenty of room for setups.
Mindgam3 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Also, we host a gathering for casuals in Nashua, NH every other Thursday and we are looking to grow that. Right now we have a number of brawl/melee and sf4 players that show up, but we've got plenty of room for setups. You live right near NuclearCheese, NE's premier flowchart Sol. I take it that this is the meet-up that's been posted on SRK for a while? On another note, A3Religion wants some Baiken practice before EVO, so I'm considering making a trip to New York sometime next month. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in tagging along if it does happen? I'm guessing he's not going to go to East Coast Throwdown 2 (http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8221)? If not, I would be highly interested in tagging along. Surely he needs practice against Slayer, they're a dime a dozen! Just to clarify, are you going by train or by car?
Danny Schme Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I live in NH and I'm trying to find some people to level up with in BB--you know, ride that hype train into CS. I put it away for about 3 months but it drew me back in recently. I've got a pretty mean tager but none of my friends have put any time into the game. I'm all for playing anyone/everyone in BB! Not many people play it at Battlegrounds on a regular basis (I think there is legit two or three of us that consistently play it still) as GG/MBAA/SF4 seem to be the hot three. If you ever decide to come down the CT for the Friday Fightnights, I'd be more than willing to face your Tager. I'd love to see what the meets are like up in NH but having class in south county in RI early Friday mornings would make that a gruesome -edit because its not necessary to make another post- i play BB/melee , but 64 is the best smash fuck you all if you disagree also if anyone wants to play , come to me or taek(xtntrikcat)'s to play, we are down! Both of us are in the boston area. It's called Hitstun 64, Ping. We've talked about this But I'm down to play with you and Taek anytime.

komradekraig Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I take it that this is the meet-up that's been posted on SRK for a while? Yeah. It started in the NH Thread and now it has it's own thread. 5 Dragons biweekly thursdays or whatever it's called. We show up, take over the large karaoke room, eat some sweet food, and get some matches in. We've got plans to start some recession $1 tourneys and go from there as the scene grows--but we have to get the people out of the woodwork first. If you ever decide to come down the CT for the Friday Fightnights, I'd be more than willing to face your Tager. I have plans to hit the CT and MA stuff. Fridaynight Fights and Wallcade are definitely on my to do list. Sadly, I've never had the chance to play GG against other people. My only experiences with it is the psp release.
kona Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Now that CS has a definite release date (either the day before or day of my birthday), I do feel like I have a reason play CT again but I wanna play CS now... Oh well. Our Fight Nights in CT (Connecticut) have a pretty decent croud for SF4, GG, Melty Blood, and Melee. If you really want to level up in SF series or Tekken 6, Wallcade is the place to go.
Danny Schme Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Now that CS has a definite release date (either the day before or day of my birthday), I do feel like I have a reason play CT again but I wanna play CS now... Oh well. Join meeeeee. And/or go to Boston whenever Ping/Taek wants to play cause I'll go to Boston for that. I have plans to hit the CT and MA stuff. Fridaynight Fights and Wallcade are definitely on my to do list. Sadly, I've never had the chance to play GG against other people. My only experiences with it is the psp release. Good shit. I look forward to playing.
Pingas Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 And/or go to Boston whenever Ping/Taek wants to play cause I'll go to Boston for that. possibly playing taek tomorrow(wen) hes still not sure atm, but i can play either way =) aim me or whatever if you are down
komradekraig Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 I got to play CS at PAX East and it just made me want it so badly. I didn't even know there was a tourney for it. Next year, when PAX moves to that gigantic place on the silver line i'm hoping it'll be much better advertised.
Danny Schme Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 possibly playing taek tomorrow(wen) hes still not sure atm, but i can play either way =) aim me or whatever if you are down Tomorrow isn't the best for me. But I'll get at you on AIM soon to figure something out =]
kona Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 If I decide to pick up CT again, I will be playing Rachel instead of Nu. The only thing holding me back from playing CT again is the lack of comp and the fact that CS is playable but not but not near me. I just want it to be my birthday already so I don't have this dilemma. At least GG is still good. :3
blueNINE Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Good games to all those that I played at Anime Boston! It was a really good time, despite the lack of setups. Hopefully that will be taken care of next year. On another note, A3Religion wants some Baiken practice before EVO, so I'm considering making a trip to New York sometime next month. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in tagging along if it does happen? I'm definitely interested! Also, welcome to the new folks on the forum. Hopefully you can make it to more events. I'm going to try to get in touch with Chin to see what's up with ACT. If I decide to pick up CT again, I will be playing Rachel instead of Nu. The only thing holding me back from playing CT again is the lack of comp and the fact that CS is playable but not but not near me. I just want it to be my birthday already so I don't have this dilemma. If people set up BBCS at BG, I might give it a shot. I have pretty much no interest in playing CT, for reasons that we've discussed previously, and because CS is out in arcades and is to be released on console soon. Either way, I will be giving CS a chance. Hehe. At least GG is still good. :3 Yes, yes it is.

Fraga Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'm doubting that BBCS will change your mind on the franchise but I, for one, do appreciate you giving it another shot =] Well if someone brings another laptop I can set up 2 BBCS areas
MK_Kilmarnock Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Just keep with it and you'll get better, trust me! Aye, thanks bud, and thanks Vyers. I really should change my 'location' right there (doing that right after this, actually) but I live in Nashua, NH when college is in session, so that should work out great for me as I've read through and seen the casual Nashua nights. Thursdays are horrible for me since I run a D&D campaign, but I'm sure I could manage something next year or whatnot. I'll eventually beat it into the heads of the college's gaming guild that we really should have a Guilty Gear tournament which might help to popularize the game here. It sucks when the biggest that you can readily play with day after day is just a few Slayer/Potemkin/Dizzy button mashers and an A.B.A. player who only abuses one combo, and all go down terribly easy (making the tournament all that more refreshing). And yeah... think I saw the Baiken. You won at least one round against Nazgul if not the whole match. Who won the AB tournament, anyway? I left after I got ousted.
Danny Schme Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Well if someone brings another laptop I can set up 2 BBCS areas If my laptop ran it at full speed (it has minor blips to slowdown) I'd be more than willing to do that. But there's no point on playing it on mine.
kona Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'd love to get BBCS going on some setup. I really want to learn that game.
Pingas Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 ive tried it on multiple setups, some of which fun it perfectly fine frame-rate wise (including my pc) however due to the diagonals by default not working and needing 3rd parties to make them work, this always causes input lag which makes it insanely frustrating trying to do anything at all. probably not touching it myself till i grab my ps3 copy or whatnot
kona Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Well, the console version finally has an American release date so get those pre-orders on 'em!
Vyers Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I need also need Baiken and Johnny practice (as well as general experience). If you don't mind stopping off at MA, I'll tag along with you. If not, I would be highly interested in tagging along. Surely he needs practice against Slayer, they're a dime a dozen! Just to clarify, are you going by train or by car? I'm waiting on A3Relgion and the rest of New York to get back to me on what times would work for them, and if they're going to East Coast Throwdown (If they are going to ECT I'll probably just go there instead). Once I hear from them I can figure out which/ how many days I can get off work. I was planning sometime in May between Spring/ Summer semesters. At the moment I'm planning on driving down. I could pick you guys up on the way. I'm definitely interested! Cool as long as you're ready to go when I get to your place. There were too many delays on our trip to NEC; I'd like to stay on schedule this time cause there's a good chance I'll have a horrifically long shift the day/day after we return. Aye, thanks bud, and thanks Vyers. I really should change my 'location' right there (doing that right after this, actually) but I live in Nashua, NH when college is in session, so that should work out great for me as I've read through and seen the casual Nashua nights. That's cool man, I used to play that before I went back to school. Nuclear Cheese goes to fight nights almost every Friday. He lives in Nashua, so if you're free Fridays you should ask him to give you a lift. The Anime Boston Tourney results were: 1st) blueNINE. 2nd) Vyers. 3rd) Mindgam3. 4th) Nazgul. 5th) Zoob, and I think you. (I think Nazgul beat you right before my match with him so that should put you at 5th)...
Mindgam3 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 To make diagonals work by default in BB:CS, DO NOT SELECT FOUR-WAY JOYSTICK when running typex_config.exe. Cool as long as you're ready to go when I get to your place. There were too many delays on our trip to NEC; I'd like to stay on schedule this time cause there's a good chance I'll have a horrifically long shift the day/day after we return. Maybe BlueNine has just been selecting four way joystick this entire time? Maybe now that he knows, he's holding down-back in preparation as we speak!
