  1. I'll be there for the weekend. Looking forward to seeing you all at the con. Happy Birthday Synyster! (I'd normally wait till tomorrow, but I won't have internet access then)
  2. Yep I'll be there. As will Noisetank and most likely Mindgam3 and blueNINE. I probably won't bring a stick with me, cause it'll be murder on my shoulders dragging it around all weekend, but I'll hit the game room at some point. They usually have a BB setup and they're likely to have a GG setup again now that xrd is out (they might even run tourneys for these 2). UNIEL and Skullgirls are less likely, but possible. My experience with requesting games on the AB forums in the past has been that it usually helps. My experience with AB tourneys/setups has not been very good (disorganized, conflicting info on start times as well as methods of/ need for pre-registration, and, since the decline of the crt, laggy setups). Mindgam3 has been known for bringing a full setup for GG/BB to AB. Maybe he'll continue the tradition. It's definitely worth bringing a full setup (game/system/tv/powerstrip/controllers) if you have a hotel room at the sheraton/merriot and plan to camp the game room for a long time. Edit: Huh, looks like they have a Mexican knife fight style retro game tournament on Saturday. Official tournament thread: http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=16944 Unofficial tournament thread: http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19579 The unofficial tournament thread is locked. I posted my interest in a GG tournament in the official tournament thread. Also started a thread stating my interest in GG being in the game room generally. Both post and thread are waiting on moderator approval. I'll post a link to the thread when/if it's approved for viewing. Edit 2: Guilty Gear Xrd setup request thread (feel free to post requests for BB and other games here or create your own request thread): http://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19684
  3. That's too bad. Well, I'll be at Anime Boston this weekend. Now that Xrd's around, there should actually be a guilty gear setup in the game room again. edit: There's a conversation about who's attending the con, and the possibilities of setups/tournaments in the game room, going on in New England thread. Check it out if you're interested.
  4. Alright. So, no-go for tonight. Maybe we can meet at that game shop another time.
  5. Assuming we do get this meetup happening, I won't get home from work till around 6:20pm tonight, so I'll be a late arrival.
  6. I'm still up for getting together tomorrow the 19th.
  7. Hmm, took a look at the Round1 website: http://www.round1usa.com/arcade/ It looks like they have a few fighting games, but they're listed under PCB/Sports Games rather than fighting games. It seems like either their list/screenshot is outdated, or their games are outdated cause they're showing SSFIV and Tekken Tag 2. This also seems to be an incomplete inventory.
  8. This weekend was the most fun and relaxing time I've had in a good long while. It was good to see you folks again, especially because it's been half a year or more since I last saw most of you. Returning to Denny's after 2 years felt like coming home (cream cheese icing doesn't quite work with ice cream). Mindgam3: Good seeing you at Dreiko's house on Friday. How did the Xrd tournament at Hall of Gaming go? Dreiko: Thanks for hosting us Friday into Saturday afternoon. Your envelope is in the mail as of yesterday. I enjoyed talking with you about fighting games/cooking/Japan. GGs in Xrd and UNIEL; I probably won't get into Fighting Climax. I find it amusing that we've both been absent from the community for roughly the same amount of time. Why: Thanks for showing me your (not so) new (, but new to me) place. I enjoyed checking out your cosplay in progress, playing your copy of castlevania bloodlines, and being wowed by the horrors of ClayFighter 1. (Turns out ClayFighter 2 was for the super nintendo, but later there was a 3rd game ClayFighter 63 1/3 for N64). Seth: I enjoyed our conversations about fan communities and popular culture. Thanks for showing me the 2nd and 3rd videos of that not-muppet creepy mindfuckery. Also, thanks for recommending Baroque, I had a blast playing it. I'm glad you enjoyed Brentalfloss and thanks for sitting through Yoru no Yatterman episode 1 even though it wasn't really your thing. Glitch: Thanks so much for having me over. Good games in Xrd/Vampire Savior, and I'm glad you found my in person 'lets play' of Baroque amusing. I'm glad you enjoyed Yoru no Yatterman and I look forward to seeing your newest piece of art once it's completed. I enjoyed our mid-cooking conversation on art, and I hope I was able to explain some of my wok cooking process in a way that made sense. Thank you so much for sushi lunch, curry ingredients, cleaning up after I cooked, and spotting me for AB. Weirdness: I tried calling you when I arrived on Friday, but I got a different phone; thought I copied your number into that phone wrong, but I checked the call history when I got home, and it was the exact same number as yours down to the area code Glitch and Seth: I'm glad you enjoyed my curry, despite me not getting the flavor quite right. I'm curious if you'd like it more the way it turned out this time, or the way I usually do it. The thing about potentially cooking with Dreiko in the future, is that I tend not to collaborate well; I'm poor at communicating in real time and compromising, so in group projects I tend to either do everything myself, or do whatever my partner(s) want; I might be up for giving it a try though. I'll see you (and Why, and probably Mindgam3, and hopefully Dreiko) at AB.
  9. Cool, I'm grateful that you are willing/able to host us NewBlood. I can do Thursday the 19th. I can't make the 25th due to working early Thursday mornings. I can't make the 26th due to a D&D session I already said I would attend (that's going to be a once a month thing though so it won't get in the way most weeks). I might make an appearance at that Hall of Gaming Event. It depends on whether or not the friends I'll be visiting want to attend. Info for those interested in going: Time: Saturday March 7, from 5:00pm - 11:00pm Venue: Hall of Gaming, 220 N Colony St Suite B, Wallingford, Connecticut 06492 Venue Fee: $5 ($2.50 if you bring a PS3 with Xrd on the hard drive [they seem to have a shortage of copies of this game]) Entry Fee: $10 per game Typical Tournament Games: Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 2, Guilty Gear Xrd Other Games (played in casuals; possible tournaments if there's enough interest): Blazblue CP, UNIEL Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/810657129001268 There's been additional discussion about this event in the New England thread: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4858-the-new-england-thread-bears-warbling-outside-my-igloo-a-polarizing-dilemma/page-82#entry897522
  10. I might make an appearance. This trip is more about catching up with Glitch and Seth (and perhaps other old friends I haven't seen in awhile) than going out to play tournaments. If it's something they want to do I'll go. If not not I'll sit this one out. It sounds like Mindgam3 is going and Nuclear Cheese is thinking about going. Mindgam3 also said that there are additional attendees whom play Blazblue and UNIEL. The Hall of Gaming event is in Wallingford (On Saturday March 7th from 5-11pm), so I believe they're one and the same unless there's like two events going on in Wallingford. Address: 220 N Colony St Suite B, Wallingford, Connecticut 06492 Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/810657129001268
  11. I won't be able to make it to that event at Wallingford this Weekend, because I'll be in Boston getting ready for the GU Video Game and Music Festival that Sunday. I will be visiting Glitch and Seth in CT the following weekend however. I haven't picked up UNIEL yet, so I plan on grabbing the US version once I have the money.
  12. Nice! I look forward to fighting you soon.
  13. It's got gatling combos, but the target bread and butters seem to go beyond that. At least Valentine seemed to have pretty tight timing for her 20+ hit BnBs. That said, I'm interested in trying out the new cast and seeing what else has changed in the game. Uniel's already out! It's a shame I don't have the money to buy it yet. We should hang out, I feel like a dick for not getting together for all this time. Maybe if we get this NH meet up thing happening I'll see you there. I'll be at the GU Video Game and Music Festival in Boston this Sunday in case you're interested in going (I know you hate city driving though). I'm also making a trip to visit with Glitch and Seth the weekend after. If you're not able to go to any of the above, I could come by to visit you on a Friday or Saturday over the next several weeks. Also, have you been to GU's Friday Night Fight Nights (at their store in Framingham)? I've only made it out there once so far, but they had about 10 or 12 people. Mindgam3, Fraga, Alex Smith, and Gavin were there. The rest were new folks. Back to the subject of NH meetups, I believe we were looking at Thursday nights? Is that still the day of choice? NewBlood said he could probably host, but he hasn't been on for awhile. Should we look into other options?
  14. I may have already menioned this in the New England thread, but I'm interested in UNIEL. I've only played it a bit, but I like the feel of the game so far. I might pick up a copy if I have the money when it's released. I played a bit of the initial release of Skullgirls. I found it a bit demanding to play, since it's a tag team game and the timing for combos feels tight; though, I might check out Encore to try the new characters. I'm not sure if he still does, but Nuclear Cheese used to play it.
  15. Let's see . . . I'm out of touch with many of these folks after being on hiatus for 2 years. Most of them don't post hear anymore, although I've been trying to draw back their interest. People who played BB back in the day (I'll list town/state and characters if I remember them, with characters for other games after BB characters): Mindgam3 aka Jeremy (Southbury CT): Played Litchi might have switched to Amane in CP. I think he played Merkava in UNIEL. Played Slayer in GG; swapped to Elphelt in Xrd. LordPangTong aka Paul (CT): I think he used Platinum in CP. Laments Melty Bloods situation. INeedGlitch2Win aka Steve (West Haven CT): Played Ragna I think? Doesn't play fighting games competitively anymore. Fraga aka Nick: I think he used to play nu or mu, then swapped characters? Plays Axl in GG. Doesn't play competitively. Why-Disciple (Wolcott CT): I forget who he plays in BB, but he also plays Tekken (Kunimitsu and ?) and a bit of GG (Faust). Kona (Springfield MA): Platinum I think? Furok aka Jonathan (Ludlow MA): I forget who he played in BB (Maybe Arakune), but he does plays Merkava in UNIEL. Used to play Robo-Ky in GG; I think he swapped to Zato-1 Players who might have played BB from Western Mass/ CT (Memory's fuzzy here): Dreiko (CT, recently moved back from Cali): Mystic Eyes aka Kyle (CT): I think he played Hazama in BB? I know he played Seth in UNIEL. SSMugen (CT): Crown Empress aka Virgil (CT): I think he played Ragna in BB? Plays Protagonist in P4A. Mostly sticks to the shotos. Rainbow Mash (CT): Can't remember if she played/plays BB . Plays Ky in GG. Used to be big on Melty Blood. Katz (MA, recently moved back from Detroit): I think he played some BB, but I don't remember which characters. Played Zappa in GG; in Xrd he plays Venom/Faust. Players from other regions who played BB back in the day Danny Schme (Rhode Island): I forget who he plays in BB. Fought his Bedman online once in GG Xrd. Nuclear Cheese aka Steve (Nashua NH): Plays Ragna, then I think he swapped to Platinum. In GG he uses Sol. CapsuleToyco (Formerly NH, moved to WA): Plays Ragna in BB. Other NE scene players (in case you're curious): DrOnBlast aka Meghan(CT): Used to play Dizzy in GG. Stryfe (CT): Played I-no in GG recently swapped to Ramlethal. Also plays SFIV (Crimson Viper and Ibuki I think). Otakuchin (CT?): Used to the Act series tournaments in CT; moved to NY. Played Sol. Zoob (Springfield MA): Played Potemkin in GG, but doesn't like Xrd. Mains Tekken. Pancho (Springfield MA): I think he Played Faust in GG. Played Honda in Vanilla SFIV. Gonzales (Springfield MA): Played Dizzy in GG. Really into Tournament Fighter (that ninja turtle ST style fighting game). Cytek (Holyoke MA): Plays I-no in GG. Plays Yoshimitsu in Tekken. Tales aka Aticus (Hadley MA): Played Anji in GG; swapped to Sin in Xrd. blueNINE aka Alex (Amherst MA): Plays May in GG. Also plays SFIV (played Abel and Juri in SSFIV). Dave Chen (Boston MA): Played Johnny and Potemkin in GG; swapped to Potemkin/Sol/Chipp in Xrd. Super J (Boston MA): Plays Slayer in GG. Also plays SFIV. NoiseTank (Boston MA): Plays a little Arakune in BB, but not competitively. Plays Ky in GG. Gavin (RI): Plays Eddie in GG. Used to run the tournaments at Tokyo Game Action (The arcade that, about half a decade ago, was the NE fighting and Rhthym game hub; it was forced to shut down when the pipes burst in winter while the owners were in Japan looking into BBCT and TvC cabinets among other things). Genstove aka Erich (formerly VT): Played Faust in GG, moved to Idaho about a year ago. Light_Nazgul (Lebanon NH): Played Testament in GG, not sure who he's using in Xrd. Heavily constrained by a new job two years ago via insane hours + lots of traveling. . . . and, that's all I can remember atm. Probably missing quite a few folks. Let me know if you'd like a hand getting in touch with any of them.
