Aftermath1349 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 No. Sega/Sammy never had that much control over GG, they only published the games, the rumors of them getting ownership of GG's copyrights are false. So, only Arc System Works will decide on that. And Daisuke already said he would do it, he just needs to hear the fans asking for it. http://m.kotaku.com/5130806/who-owns-the-rights-to-guilty-gear
Antihippy Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Yes, post an outdated kotaku post. Totally legit. In recent interviews they've said that they are a-okay to make a new guilty gear. Sega only ever had the rights to publish the next guilty gear anyway iirc, not the IP itself. I was asking about GGAC+, seeing that sega published it so I dunno if it's up to them or Arcsys to put it on XBLA and PSN.
Maker Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Not to poke my nose where its not wanted but no matter who's decision it is, it needs to happen in the worst way imagineable.
Hecatom Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Wouldn't sega/sammy be the ones to decide if they'll port it to XBLA and PSN? im pretty sick of this rumor No. Sega/Sammy never had that much control over GG, they only published the games, the rumors of them getting ownership of GG's copyrights are false. What's next - is there another fighting game in the pipeline? Tomo Ohno: Oh, you want to talk about a new Guilty Gear? (grins) HardEdge: For example. Or some other fighting game? Tomo Ohno: At the moment, our "fighting pipline" is fully Blazblue - Continum Shift and the PSP version. However, Guilty Gear is not dead. Blazblue is not replacing the Guilty Gear series. I know there is a rumour that we have an issue with Sega regarding Guilty Gear. We dont! Daisuke Ishiwatari, the creator of GG, has full intention of developing a new Guilty Gear. I have full intention of making that happen. The question is, when, how and actually where? Well the challenge we had in Guilty Gear - people like you (the hardcore players) enjoy Guilty Gear. You will probably enjoy everything we expect the people to enjoy, but you have to be on a different level to enjoy it. If you are a novice, most of the time, you don't see anything. You know, you have no idea how to make it happen (talking about combos and gameplay here). The Guilty Gear series over time became too difficult. it wasn't easy to get into, and Blazblue came from the bottom. We had to find a way: lets not make it easy but ...

Of course it's outdated as I posted it to show that their WAS issues with the series. We know they now have full control but obviously there was an issue with the series previously. Why is this even being argued when Daisuke fucking confirms it in that "outdated" quote? It was obvious that I wasn't saying that Sega still had control. Edit: and yes I saw the Tohmo interview but what he says obviously clashes with what has been said previously. Not saying it's not true... But that would make Daisuke a liar and I doubt he just made up an issue between he/ASW and Sega.
BioLogIn Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 sega is the publisher, nothing more http://elvenshadowmike.blogspot.com/2010/07/i-want-to-believe.html First of all regarding the rights issue to Guilty Gear and the whole deal with losing the rights to SEGA... basically around the time when they were making GG overture, SEGA owned the rights to all Guilty Gear games from GGX and up. This meant that Arc still owned the rights to all characters in the ORIGINAL GG. Thats why in overture, we dont really see much of the cast. Pachi confirmed that Arc now DOES own the rights to all the GG characters once again at this time.

Reading this always brings a small tear of joy to my eyes. I just hope it's true. Well the challenge we had in Guilty Gear - people like you (the hardcore players) enjoy Guilty Gear. The Guilty Gear series over time became too difficult. it wasn't easy to get into, and Blazblue came from the bottom. We had to find a way: lets not make it easy but ... I don't know, I'm nowhere near a hardcore/tournament player but i enjoy the gameplay of GG a lot more.
Hecatom Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 it seems that some tournament players and ASW have the misconception that GG cant be enjoyed casually :P
Antihippy Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 http://elvenshadowmike.blogspot.com/2010/07/i-want-to-believe.html Yeah, this is what I was asking about. So does owning all their characters again mean that they own the right to all their games now instead of sega? Still though, whatever. PSN/XBLA GGAC+ better happen somehow.
Sesshyru Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I dunno about all the other games, but, I think it means that you can make a Guilty Gear using Guilty Gear characters and their signature stuff instead of having to make a spinoff (blazblue) with characters that look lie the characters you wish were your characters. Yes. Confusing. Simply: I am pretty sure they made BB because the GG characters were not owned at the time and were warped up in red tap. Now that they do own them, they might let us play with them. Just my speculation though.
ZhaneBX Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 it seems that some tournament players and ASW have the misconception that GG cant be enjoyed casually :P Sad but true... and this while SF4 is full of 1-frame links. I never did a FRC (at least not that i know) but i love GG more than any other fighting game, except Darkstalkers, both my fav. fighters
Hecatom Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 Yeah, this is what I was asking about. So does owning all their characters again mean that they own the right to all their games now instead of sega? Still though, whatever. PSN/XBLA GGAC+ better happen somehow. just consider this, when aksys published GGAC and GGAC+ whith who they made all the negotations? SEGA or ASW? ASW, so this shows who owns the games at least GGAC
Bonzai Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Don't stop pushing for online Guilty Gear! Here's a nice thread for those who haven't already seen it: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?9940-Slowdown-Gear-XX-Desync-Core-%28aka.-AC-online%29 Don't expect too much though.

QFT, especially considering the color pack has GG colors for all characters... Po-Tager is my favorite, but he will never be Potemkin
Robo-mitsu Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 BlazBlu could never replace Guilty Gear. Bring it back for the PS3/Xbox360 so die hard fans and newcomers alike can keep the flag flying!
Hecatom Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 imo they shoud do it fast since now with the emulation and the netplay they can loose a potential market for GGAC with online
Arvoyea Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 This is what I have written so far for a petition. Small though, I haven't have time to add on. Arc System Works and Aksys Games, the fans of the Guilty Gear series on the website Dustloop Forums have interest in a re-release of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core to the Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, and even the PC if possible. Ever since last year, the fighting game genre has risen in popularity thanks to Street Fighter 4, and Blazblue: Calamity Trigger. The fans here at Dustloop Forums believe that Accent Core can benefit from this, but that can't happen without the game being on next/current generation systems. We would like to have netplay, with a good netcode similar to Blazblue or GGPO. Tutorials that can help new players learn the gameplay system would help, because while we can appreciate the depth of the gameplay, most other fighting game fans in the U.S. get intimidated or feel that the game is ‘too weird’ compared to other series. But this game can be enjoyed at a casual level. The game just needs a chance to be easily available.
Sesshyru Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Tell them to fix the dam speed too. I don't want no busted port.
Hecatom Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 you know that if it wasnt for DL i have never would noticed that the game is speed up, lol
Arvoyea Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 you know that if it wasnt for DL i have never would noticed that the game is speed up, lol Wait, what? It's sped up?
smooshman Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Wait, what? It's sped up? yeah something how it sped up the FPS by like 5~ frames or something, messes with some strict timing, but it's barely noticeable otherwise.
Arvoyea Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Well, that's news to me. What else can I add in my draft so far to make it more convincing? Also, is it possible to have the petition translated to multiple languages so GG fans worldwide can sign it?
