Discuss the Tsubaki vs Litchi matchup here.

Things to watch out for:

  • Every normal she has is good and leads to good damage.
  • All her normals are pretty much safe.....
  • Her specials are pretty good...
  • Her normals hit you from like half a screen away (with staff).
  • IAD j.B is pretty common from most Litchi players

Things you can use:

  • 22B can autoguard her DP.
  • Very good blocking.
  • With proper spacing and reads, you can 2C her IAD attempts.
  • When she has no staff, you can lay on pressure. Just watch out for wake-up/reversal hatsu.

My best friend uses Litchi just to drive me nuts. He could be on the north pole, i could be on the south pole and his reach would still get me.

From personal accounts, when she gets you trapped in a corner, I would wait for an opening underneath her and 236B or C out of there ASAP. If she staggers, I'd then use a 22A to put a little distance between us.

And here's a dangerous trap Litchi pulls on my quite frequently: Sometimes when she uses 13 Orphans, she'll chase after it and go after you. Backdash as fast as you can and slap Litchi with a 5B so you don't get caught by 13 Orphans, or if Litchi comes in and tries to grab you. Don't fall for the crap I fall for and only keep an eye on the pole, they're both just as dangerous.

That's all I got for now. If I learn anything else I'll be sure to post it. Litchi makes me rage like 12 Fists of the North Star.

There was a point where I waited for Litchi to place her staff and once that happened I rushed her down. It proved to be effective but is it such a good idea?

At the start of the match you're probably better off standing and blocking or Air dash backwards maybe? She can catch you with the staff then and there.

If you get her blocking without staff go for it. She's the worst character in the game defensively at that point outside trying to wakeup with hatsu. (The upward dress kick.) Start of match you probably want to backdash, worst thing that can happen is they tag you 6b for like 500 damage. A LOT of Litchi's like to approach with airdash into j.b. Do an early 2c because the thing hits a mile under her. Also, make sure she won't cross you up or you are fucked. Good time to burst are when she is flying to her staff. Especially after a raw 2c (5.8k dmg inc) or 5b>2c (5k inc). Think you get free ch 5b if you block her dp.

I'm new to BB and am using tsubaki for the time being. From what i've been able to experiment with (haven't tried online yet and only quoting what i've done against high lvl comp in training mode) 236 and 623 series seems to do pretty well for when she trying to fly towards her staff if you catch her with them depending on how close or how far you are from her staff.

You can’t have success without trial and error. My input is going to be a bit inconsistent since I think it orients towards the opponent mind-set and doesn’t reflect the whole character. Open 236 and 623 moves are a bit risky. In one situation, I think I only did 623a and 623D out of twelve matches. 623a made a trade off with one of Litchi’s jB. 236X by itself can’t be used too frequently unless you caught her off-guard and planned to do an rc or 214x afterwards. Be careful of dp if she sees you coming with that move too often. Actually, just watch if she uses the dp too often and bait it.I found myself tapping jA to interrupt her jB and jC frequently. When she did a complete air dash with jB, I mashed 2A. If she double jumped, 2C sometimes worked. If you air backdash and she dashes forward, she may throw you to a start a dmg-inducing combo. I stayed away from the corner when she was staff-equipped and sparingly rushed her when she was staffless.
