Ok guys, they uploaded vids from the middle Tennessee tournament. I do a lot of stupid stuff, like sledge followups on block, punishable elbow drops, and missed 360/720 opportunities. And remember, I forgot to set a RC button in the Losers Finals, so I do some retarded A-Sledge (wanted to RC when close to 2B) and stupid GFs towards the end.

The first two are me getting knocked into loser's bracket. The middle two are me going through that bracket. The last two are loser's finals.

your play overall was good but I have a few things to nitpick about.

when you use 6A you can jump cancel it, its very useful especially if they don't have a DP...use it from time to time.

you can delay your pokes which messes up things for your opponent, a good time to use it was when bang tried to jump out and you were mashing 5A, you could have did 5A 5A 5A delay 5A tick grab and he would have fell into it.

another thing don't bother optimizing damage with a corner 360B if you don't have a spark or MTW, focus more on oki.

5C>6A after spark after aboutt 7 or 8 hits allows your opponent to imediately tech, which means if they are magnetized you get a collider...

you autopiloted pressure quite a bit and you tried to tick grab way too much, try applying some pressure a bit, when you fought bang I can tell you were trying to end it quick which is all good and what not but because you wasn't watching him IB or waiting for that drive you ate hits that wasn't necessary.

against noel if she is drive mashing and 6B passed by then she only has 2 things she can do while in drive: spring raid and assault through, you can pretty much sledge through everything else, another thing 4D kills noel...shit isn't funny, if she is magnetized do it, she has very few answers to it.

stop doing really unsafe stuff...you know what it is...right?

Good point. I've actually realized that I don't do this enough, but I haven't trained myself to use it really utilize it yet.

Yeah, as you said, I was trying to end it quick. I knew I was trading position for damage, but when the damage gain is minimal, position is much better.

I knew this, but nerves were getting me. You don't know how many people were crowded around me, as well as cheering me on.

Honestly, I have VERY LITTLE Noel experience. Plus, I was just kind of dicking around in that match... borderline trolling.

Yeah, yeah. Again, nervous wreck. I've been to tournaments before, but this is the first one where a large crowd gathered around just to watch me play. And, it was being recorded.

Looking back, I can't even really see what I did right. I just see mountains of mistakes that made me lose...

you definitely could have won that tournament imo. if you were just a bit more on point you could have had it. i don't want to criticize to much cause i think you seem to have a good understanding of where your mistakes were, but i want to say a few things:

- against the ragna, you were kind of too passive imo. just a general comment on your playstyle in this match-up, it worked out fine and i think you became less passive as the game went on, but i think you could have abused some ib openings a bit more.

- against bang, you ate a LOT of 2a's. if anything, this was the main reason you lost. i know this is probably because you were trying to IB the 2a's (i'm very bad at IB-ing 2a's myself), in which case if you're not confident that you can do that, you just shouldn't try unless you REALLY have it down in muscle memory from training mode. instead, focus on reacting and ib punishing much slower moves like his drive attacks, 2c and super crash (though you did ib punish his 5a; perfect). also focus on punishing bang's jump cancels after his 2b, which can be hard depending on what the bang does of course, but in this case it's all about yomi.

- this is a general comment on your oki game. corner oki ... just needs improvement. some of the games the opponent would roll out of the corner in your face, which you should have reacted immediately to with a 360b. i'm sure you know that, and it was just nerves getting to you though. also, after doing 2d in the corner, on oki, you should IMO always do a 2B to catch potential tech rolls and quick get-ups (in fact, against the Bang player, he did a quick get-up one round in the corner). also, don't gadget in the corner please (unless you're going for some sort of RC set-up).

- to add to what a.x.i.s. said about noel: you can also ib her drives and 5a a lot of her drive follow-ups as well if you feel you're not confident in sledging her drive spam (5a should stuff the 6b drive actually iirc).

After watching that this morning, I too noticed that I was extremely passive, especially in that first round. I think I was trying to see how aggressive he was going to play, because we have played against each other quite a bit on XBL. I've seen him play passive and aggressive at different times. But yeah, I saw where I IB'ed, then did nothing...

I knew for a fact that 2A was punishable on IB, and I did try it too many times. Got it to work once with a 720. Good advice though.

I wanted to punch myself in the balls when I did that GF in the corner, both at the tournament and when re-watching it. WTF was I thinking? 2B is what I prefer too though. Nice catch.

Great matches astaroth. Just small things I noticed combo wise. I believe after MTW then terrabreak you can combo 6B, 2C, Collider. I think you did 2B which can be teched. Also against ragna after any 360(a or b) you can 5B, 4D. It pushes ragna away, that way you don't have to deal with Inferno Divider rapid into ragna pressure. Good shit man

well i didnt realize he'd tech EVERY single time till the last round LOLz.

the full screen sparkbolt.....when fighting lambda i use it to just get that magnetism..makes her a tad easier to deal with. the full screen bolt on the last round...i knew he would backdash so i thru it out and it came thru for me
