sergetrigger Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Alright, so I've been playing CS a lot recently, and i've noticed that I keep messing up my inputs such as Bang's j.4b, would come out as a dj.4b and screws up my cross-up game. Same goes for the DP motions and the 632146 motion too... I figured it might be my controller, but just incase, I decided to pop in CT and try the motions again... Executed them perfectly. So, is CS stricter on inputs or something?
Kyosuke Kagami Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Yes, it is. Also check your TV. I had problems with my timing because I had my PS3 configured in 1080p, causing a slight delayed control response (solved it by putting PS3 on 720p).
sergetrigger Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Hmm, that explains a lot. Also, doesn't the ps3 automatically configure it to 720p?
Kyosuke Kagami Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Uh... not sure. I thought the PS3 could just stretch 720p games into 1080p if the system is configured like that (even though doing that makes shit have some delay).

Your tv just lags.

furix Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Yeah the PS3 will automatically set games that run at 720p into 720p. Games like Blazblue, street fighter, etc. will automatically get set into 720p. If your TV has a "display" or "info" button on your remote, try pressing it while the game is running. It will show you the resolution the game is running at as well as the channel. Chances are that your TV just has input lag, I would suggest checking your brand and model online to see if anybody else is having trouble with it. I think I notice a slight input lag on the TV in my leaving room(never noticed this before until now though..), but when I connect it to my VW246H monitor, I sense no lag at all.
Zarithan Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 If your PS3 is set to 1080p , any game that is played its automatically converted to 720p and that IS causing some lag ( even framedrop sometimes ) , best example for this is Demons Souls. When I set tv to 1080p there are some scenes when framedrop is quite noticeable and even controls won't work as intended. After I put XMB in 720p , game runs smooth without any lag or framedrop ... So yeah , putting 1080p and then starting a 720p game CAN cause issues. Other than that , TV can be a problem , but my advice is 1st to turn xmb to 720 modeand if that fails then u'll know what the problem is
furix Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Well, if you have your PS3 set to 720p, then your TV does the scaling, if you have it set to 1080p, the PS3 does the scaling. That's what I've always understood. If you really wanna check lag, you could try using RockBand 2, or any Rockband game after that(Like RockBand beatles). It has a calibration tool you can use there. Either automatic(with the Rockband guitar and mike), or manual. It's not as accurate as other methods, but I hear it gives you a good idea of how much lag your TV has. Try it with all PS3 resolutions, too.
Konner Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I realize we're talking about PS3 at the moment, but as a notice to Xbox players... The left joystick has a tendency to reset itself near the middle, but not at a neutral position. Some of your inputs might be coming out wrong due to this. This is particularly notorious with users who 'flick' their inputs, or let the joystick reset itself at certain times. Basically, if you know you could do certain inputs fine, or you think you're doing them good, check your controller for the issue.
sergetrigger Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Ugh, I'm still having problems with this. I keep messing up my links such as with Bang's 5a>5b>2b>6c>2b>623b>d.5b or d.2b. for some reason the game keeps thinking I'm holding 6 and gives me his 6b instead... I even tried letting go for the link, and still get the same issue. It's just probably me anyway... but how did you guys get used to the new input system?
mundus Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Err, after 6C you are in the air, here you want to do j D then 6A when you land not 2B.
sergetrigger Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 Err, after 6C you are in the air, here you want to do j D then 6A when you land not 2B. Heh, I realized I forgot to add the j.d in that post. I meant after the 623b, I can't get the d.5b or d.2b to come out. It comes out as 6b.
Partialartist Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I have a Saturn USB controller and I've been having problems with dropping combos. Simple stuff, like ending a combo with 214B, will turn into a backwards super jump. I thought I might have been getting sloppy with my execution, but I tested it out, doing nothing but carefully dashing, and I would get random jumps. Gonna try out a Logitech Precision, since that's the other pad I've heard good things about, but if that's no good, I'm gonna have to invest in a good stick.
