You're wrong, everyone LIKES Guilty Gear, but nobody plays. Even all the capcom-heads 'respect' the game for the most part. I can't say the same about Blazblue but hey whatev. If you're near SJSU comp should be easy to find! Hang out with them more, and FYI almost none of the good players play on the GG cab (P360 joysticks lol...)

^I split time between San Jose and the East Bay (Concord, Walnut Creek) since I go to SJSU and because I go home every now and then.

Lets see... I post on Shoryuken, but I've come to find that just about nobody likes Guilty Gear over there. I like my share of Capcom and Namco fighters, but GG is the game I enjoy most. So I joined up here looking to meet up with players so I can get some GG playtime. (So tired of sessions that only have SSF4 and MVC3)

Uh.... I really don't know where I stand when it comes to skill level since I rarely get to play on a competitive level and I split wins and losses at SJSU's arcade. Sometimes I talk to the other players and I have no clue what there talking about, if that says anything.

what character do you play? are you that ABA player?

@Hannou

I stand corrected, yeah everyone likes it but no one plays it (well from those that ive talked to). I know the capcom heads like GG (from what i hear), but i was just talking about the game community.

And yeah, i was talking to one guy who i played and he told me i should post here. Dont really remeber who it was...

Uh lets see... Is he asian and do we like that ABA player or is he a dick? if hes a dick, its not me, but if he's allright, then yeah its me.

@Dakanya

Oh yeah I remember you, I was wondering what happened to you guys, I dont remember playing you the second time though. If i left, I probably ran out of quarters, I usually play SF4 or 3rd Strike first if i dont immediately see anyone on the GG cab.

@qwerty

Nice, I think i need some tutelage. I've recently picked up I-no too if anyone can give me tips on that.

Well I just wanted to learn her for fun.

BTW do most people here play BB or GG? or is it about even.

most of the people that actually post in this thread play gg

i think most activity here are bb posters... but we have gg players kind of all around the bay area (ok mostly sf bay area, peninsula, south bay).

you should really come out to our tournaments. did you watch the nci stream yesterday? we almost always have them at sjsu now

as for what happened for us, i told you to get in touch online didn't i? lol

my aim is in my profile too ;o

I have no idea of anything that happens, ever. lol

I want to come out to tournaments, but I'm pretty sure I'll get schooled, that and I need a stick (I guess I could bring a controller and work with that).

Well then I guess I'll talk to you from time to time to see if anything is going on (I hardly go on AIM though). When is anything gonna happen again anyway?

i dunno. things are pretty impromptu. we have casual sessions but we dont always post about it.

dunno when next nci is gonna be yet, maybe the first week of may???

dont be scared of getting schooled. this is a 2 player game ok.

how good can you get if you are scared of getting schooled and play by yourself right??

i prefer talking on irc but aim/msn/gtalk/whatever IM protocol is fine, just PM me if you need info

nope, that's the only one and nobody plays on it because it's on happ.

I'll help you out with I-no anytime. Pretty sure my AIM is in my profile too. She takes work but she is so fun, and has an answer to most things in the game. And Spirit Juice always loses to her :)

the best advice I can think of a for a new player trying to get into the fg scene:

1. Don't be afraid to lose, no body really cares how good you are, as long as you arn't a scrub. If you are honestly trying to improve, and listen to people's advice, you will get respect from 80-90% of the community.

2. Don't be offended by shit talk. It really isn't personal. Don't let people push you around, but at the same time, don't get butt hurt over trash talk. It isn't worth it, and once you get used to it, shit talk is a lot of fun :-D

3. GO TO TOURNAMENTS AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. I played GG years before I actually got involved in the community, my enjoyment, and skill at the game increase hugely when I started going to events.

What is your transportation situation? if you can drive up to SF on thursday or friday nights, Rod (Honnou) frequently has gathers at his house. Super friendly atmosphere, and one of the better players in norcal on site to give you pro tips.

Come out have fun. And meet people. Norcal has a great scene going for these games. Everyone is super nice, its the main reason I keep going to the tournaments when I can; even though I barely have time to play FG's anymore.

I'm not afraid to lose, I get my ass handed to me at MVC3 and SSF4 from time to time, especially the former. And I still shit talk after I lose lol, it's all in good fun. But i have met people that take it too seriously and and get but hurt... and throw controllers (my gamecube controllers over a game of smash...)

I can drive out from time to time if its in SF, thats not too bad, only about an hour away.
