ghostgoodboy Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) I surpass the level of what Clarence and MikeW achieved. Double Ps with a "Absolute Perfection" trophy pops up a few secs after the match on his console, plus gootecks action attempted but pulled back probably realized it'd be too loud, and not really what I wanted anyway cause it will break the delicate wood floor. What's Good? Edited December 2, 2010 by ghostgoodboy
Saru Kada Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 attempted but pulled back probably realized it'd be too loud, and not really what I wanted anyway cause it will break the delicate wood floorthat didn't stop clarence from getting his achievement, waking me up in the process I don't know if this one counts guys, as impressive as the double P is. what's good not good enough
sweetvids Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Hmm, but we have to give him merit though for the Achievement since now everytime he looks at his trophies for SSF4, he will forever be reminded of the humiliating defeat. Stick throws last a moment, but Trophies are forever. That and marks on Mike's floors lololol.

Superking™ Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 Great news for me registering for courses for Spring semester at Kwantlen, I spoke with the head Japanese teacher, and with her assessment she said I should be taking Intermediate Level Courses, but there aren't any for this semester and the one she wants me to take is in the Summer semester, which is fine since I'll be going to school with no breaks from here on end. Although I was able to talk her into letting me take Basic Level II (which would be too easy for me, but would help ease me back into school since I haven't been in school since Summer 2007) which is fine and dandy, but the hurdle currently is that her class is full. So I have to check everyday now until the course fees are due on the 14th I think for someone to drop the course for me to get in. I already have my Basic German II registered, and just now I took a substitute, History Europe 1900-1939 in case I don't get in said Japanese course (not that it matters as said teacher has already removed two prerequisites I didn't have to be accepted into Intermediate level, but Basic Japanese II would be really easy and fun, and good practise for me, not that European history in the early 1900s is hard, that's really easy too, and I am going back to school to do a history BA after all). Weeeeeeeeeee, school.
ghostgoodboy Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 lol MikeW at that msg message forward, and Clarence probably gets the same feel too. I'm already 6 layers below you even when you are awake. at the cheevo, man it's just harder for me because the subject is more easily irritated when expectation gaps. I offer solid convincing victory by skill while you know, nigs like Clarence, dick around more to cheap out the cheevo, it ain't fair.

Byuusan Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 FFFF Trying to tranlate soem characters from my game into romaji to english, why does it have to be so hard >.< Mike how the hell did you learn this crap? I can go from character to romaji fine but i can never understand pass that point.
Saru Kada Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 What can I say, I'm real good at tipping carshahahahaha stefan: that is a very interesting article. since nothing else really exists on earth we've always had a limited perspective on biochemistries providing an alternative to carbon-based life. I WANT TO BELIEVE BYUUUUsan: is it primarily vocabulary or grammatical issues that you're having? if the former, read extensively and use the dictionary a lot; if the latter, you should be able to find articles and tips online on whatever specifically you're having issues with, whether it's the use of particles or certain verb conjugations. regardless of what you're having trouble with though, you have to build it up slowly and there's really no shortcut other than to immerse yourself in the stuff regularly. I still learn new things every now and then just from reading what I usually read.

Byuusan Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) タロツトカード if my romaji tralation is correct it should be tarotsutokado But, all i cna pick off from that is potato >.< Course it comes wit ha full explanation in hiragana but this was in bracket so i wanted to make it my focus. Edit: Lol i ended up finding it by actident. But still how far off my tranlation? I just recently started to learn to read japanese instead of having to go off by voices so i can make choices and find japanese text game easier. But i cna imagine beign self-taught learning to read will take a while. Edited December 3, 2010 by Byuusan
Saru Kada Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) that's "tarot card" in this case, the proper romanisation would be "tarotto ka-do". when romanising the small "tsu"s, add the leading consonant of the following kana, as in, say, "buttobasu" or ぶっ飛ばす if you don't know how the small "tsu" work (stefan will probably know what they're actually called) you'd probably be best off reading through an introductory japanese text or other similar primer until you've got a solid grasp of the fundamentals self-taught learning is a lot easier if you're already familiar with chinese characters and have a basic grasp of grammatical structure from, say, listening to anime. but if you have the opportunity to take classes or even just, say, download a copy of rosetta stone, you'll most likely take to it much quicker. Edited December 3, 2010 by Saru Kada
sweetvids Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Actually Mike, Rosetta Stone isn't all that useful for learning grammar or reading skills since it focuses on teaching you to speak as if you were a "native speaker". So they focus on sounds and speech. It'll be enough to get to get you by as a tourist or so, but doesn't really teach all the nuances of the language.
Saru Kada Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 noooooooo rosetta stooooooooone ok I stand corrected, just take a class if you can
Superking™ Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 Yeah rosetta stone is ass unless you want to be a robot. Just taking classes or a conversation club would work best imo.
Greed Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) if you don't know how the small "tsu" work (stefan will probably know what they're actually called) Its called sokuon yeaaaaa 2000 years of culture to the rescue IMO the best approach ( and I think stefan may agree with me here ) is find a girl who natively speaks the desired language and woo her like you're Sean Connery and its 1955 ...actually didn't army interpreters generally learn foreign languages from whores whenever they encountered a new country? Good old england Edited December 3, 2010 by Greed
Superking™ Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 Really? It's called that? Every Japanese person I've spoken to has always called it small tsu, well chisai tsu, fuck I hate romanji. Stupid work keyboard that doesn't have other character support.
ghostgoodboy Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8IEP2pILBU&feature=player_embedded#!
Byuusan Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 right eithe way, the only classes i can find that aviable at my times is sat only, but the class year round and it already half way through, guess ièll self-teach myself till then
rtl42 Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) Nigel: sokuon is (probably) too academic, so it wouldn't come up unless the people you asked were particular about their vocabulary. incidentally there's a short write-up about it here: http://www.jekai.org/entries/aa/00/no/aa00no01.htm byuu: feel free to ask any time! (although based on what Mike said, I take it you already know how to read some form of "kanji"?) Edited December 4, 2010 by rtl42
