DioBrando Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) Might wanna consider raising the 8 man cap to 12 man cap or something. 8 is such a small number for a ranbat. Edited January 17, 2011 by DioBrando
X-Sapphire Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Russell: I am hosting gg ranbats. We can schedule it to run on the same week as tekken but I will be using my own format. Details to follow, but it wil definitely not be RR and there will be no cap. Also, how do you nerf a fireball? I keep asking for a list of changes and everyone is keeping it to themself.
neorussell Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) The number is debate-able. I'd say, as many as possible but capping it to 12 would be ideal. It's still Round Robin so that has to be taken into account. The more players, the longer this Ranbat runs. With 1 machine, i don't think you'd guys want to be there all night. Edit: Nazir: Just want to clarify that we use the point per round system to make it fair for everyone. We already started our Tekken Ranbat. The results were awesome. Anybody can win and not just the best players. Of course the best players stood out but the points were actually close to everyone. NeoRussell Edited January 17, 2011 by neorussell
kousaka Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 (edited) we can just follow the official ggac ranbat rules.. those have been running for years now.. http://www.gamechariot.com/g3ru-ru.html -ruleset for 2's, 4's and 14(!!!)s.. but yeah in general you dont' increase the number, it just become team ranbats.. etc etc top 4 goes into a mini bracket ftw @russell: yeah im talking about what the opponent can do.. been practicing tech traps in training mode.. set them to back roll and using resets.. the vid i got it from was korean so i didn't quite get all the details but it had stuff for other tech/no techs and i wasn't sure how to set it up to practice Edited January 17, 2011 by kousaka

Depending on what they do to tech, there are ways to catch them off guard and reset your combo. I don't use Ling but she does have a lot of pickups. The problem with her is you have to be tricky to launch, trickier to reset. Maybe one day when you come for a gathering or in ghetty. NeoRussell Edited January 17, 2011 by neorussell

I can't find much, but the best and long tedious way is to go through all of the character specific threads. I swear there was a list that I found before. Edit: I found the list: http://shoryuken.com/f315/ssfiv-ae-blog-changes-yoshinori-ono-doesnt-care-about-green-people-255022/ I am not sure if they were all finalized changes but these were posted on some blog before AE release. Zeero Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 teach me hwoarang As for fireball nerf, i think in general recovery was increased (so easier to jump over and approach/punish?), damage (chip and on hit) decrease? I mean like, i was watching people block fireballs and barely noticed chip damage, no like SF4 where it was a chunk lol. I'm only guessing from watching
kellfire Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I just got my copy of arcana heart 3, time to try it out.
unsanctifier Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Saturday ranbats would suck. Also Gety regulars or people who are willing to come every week or bi-weekly whatever people decide it to be should be allowed. I don't want to hold the results back 2 or 3 weeks because of unfinished matches.
mr.mortified Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 i dunno if the boss will bite, but here http://www.meltybread.com/forums/melty-blood-auditorium/mbaacc-arcade-kit-for-sale/
K2 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 the lion who misses his bite is down for ranbats, if only to increase his bite rate. he'll bite you assholes yet /pat even lion can't bite,it is still a BEAST
Tofu Warrior Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 GGs to Pui and K2 today in SSF4 AE haha, it was so fun! Pui, you really leveled up, EX Tatsu > jump LK, dash under cr. jab, throw? That's godlike. You also have really good counter hit set ups, I wasn't expecting to see those. K2, make sure you use his F+MK overhead and cr. fierce, those are his best pokes. J. MP is also really good for ambiguous jump ins. Use jab Rekka to whiff punish normals too. Hope to see you guys next week too.

Control space, limit your opponent's options, punish their mistakes. That's a good way to think about Street Fighter. With Sakura, her basic gameplan revolves around trying to get in, land EX Tatsu and mix up from there. The Sakura boards on SRK should help a lot too. Like I said though, you did some cool shit, like staggering your pressure to bait a poke and counter hit it, Guilty Gear style.
archling Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 damn, the way tofu talks about sf, sounds like every other fighter.
mr.mortified Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 yo guys arcana heart 3 got ripped to pc lol yo srs? oh well i'll play it in a sugoi ps3
Tofu Warrior Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 damn, the way tofu talks about sf, sounds like every other fighter. Yeah, those are basic principles to can apply to any 2D fighter, first pioneered by SF2.
Linear04 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 well tbh sf2 was THE basic outline of a fighting game so it would make sense like that
Tofu Warrior Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Exactly, every fighting game series owes its existence to SF2; the entire genre is based on taking the SF2 template and expanding on it.
unsanctifier Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) SF2 was the bones of life for our niche. EDIT; what is the status of GG ranbats? Edited January 19, 2011 by unsanctifier
X-Sapphire Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 GGAC Ranbats Schedule - Fridays @ 8pm sharp on a biweekly basis starting Feb 4th. - Season ends April 29th. 7 sessions total. Format - Double Elim @ $2 entry each session. Season payout @ 70/20/10. - Best of 1 game per normal match, each game is 3/5 rounds. - Best 2/3 grand finals, each game is 3/5 rounds. - Character locked per session. Point System 1st - 10 2nd - 7 3rd - 5 4th - 4 5th - 3 5th - 3 1 point for participation for anyone who didn't place top 5. Why I didn't choose round robin? There are plenty of reasons, but the main one is it takes too long so there would have to be a cap. Caps are detrimental to competition, and competition is the whole point of a ranbat. Keeping it at double elim and 3/5 rounds means everyone gets a decent amount of playtime in a short timespan. Each session should not take more than 2.5 hours. Please pre-reg @ http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10947-GGAC-Bi-weekly-RANBATS-Lovegety-Station-Toronto-Ontario
X-Sapphire Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Also before anyone asks, I have no interest in doing it for BB. I highly doubt a BB ranbat would succeed nor be any fun.
