The rules below only apply to the console tournaments (WORLD TEAM CUP tournaments excluded as we already stated in the corresponding sections). The rules & regulations of the arcade tournaments will be announced later this week. SOLO CONSOLE TOURNAMENTS FORMAT: For the solo tourneys, the qualifier phase will be played in POOLS, just like last year. It will be pools of 4 or 8 players, according to the size of the tournament: - Tournament of 32 players: 8 pools of 4 players - 2/3 matches per set - 2 qualifiers per pool. - Tournament of 64 players: 8 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 4 qualifiers per pool. - Tournament of 128 players: 16 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 2 qualifiers per pool. - Tournament of 256 players: 32 pools of 8 players - 1 match per set - 2 qualifiers per pool. Consequently, players will be able to check their pools and competitors (& their characters) before the tournaments! ------ Be advised that for all these tournaments, you must come with your own accessories (adapters included). The organization simply won't be able to lend pads, adapters and/or sticks. The WGC is a BYOC event! (bring your own controller, be it a pad or a stick) You will of course be allowed to borrow accessories from other players, but it mustn't be a bother or holdup the competition (as you might get disqualified if that's the case). All game controllers allowing macros/cheats are strictly forbidden, as are the activation of turbo/automatic modes on any allowed controller. ------ NEW THIS YEAR 1/The Casual Play Area will be built around 8 to 16 screens. Ronove Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Pre-registered! I should be able to make it this time, provided that I find a place to stay at a reasonable price. Other fellow players from my local scene should be joining up both for singles and team tournament.
Ronove Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 (edited) I've been looking at the website's BBCS page but the date on when the BBCS Solo tournament is going to be played is a bit confusing. In your posts here it's reported that the solo tournament will take place on Feb 26th, while on the tournament's website it says the solo tournament will be spread between Saturday and Sunday (Feb 26th and Feb 27th). Could you clear this up please? Because if I can save a bit of money by booking one less night at the residence/hotel that'd be great. Edited December 20, 2010 by Ronove

Ronove Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 @Kurama but that's exactly where the inconsistency is: Dates & Schedule: Saturday February the 26th 2011 Tourney opening at: 11AM - Finals on the Main Stage & Streaming scheduled for: Sunday February the 25 from 4PM to 6PM That's taken from the tournament page. Could you please clear this up? Is BB 1v1 tournament going to be played only on Saturday or are you going to have the finals on Sunday as well?
kurama_tengu Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 I just checked the website again in both languages. There is no mistake, the tourney is really in two parts. The Pools phase is on Saturday the 26th & the Finals phase is on Sunday the 27th. Soulcalibur IV is hogging the Main Stage on Saturday night.
Ronove Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Thanks, that's what I wanted to know! (although I somehow wished that you would do everything on Saturday, less money spent but whatever) ;D

Maho Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Results : 2V2 tourney : - 1st : Team Nightmare Fiction : Skyll (Ragna) and Chronoxir (Hazama) - 2nd : Team Astral Troll : Champion (Ragna) and Kekken (Tager) - 3rd : Team Krot V Rot : Maho (Tager) and Fidoskin (Bang) Top 3 vids : http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12931414 Solo Tourney : - 1st : Skyll (Ragna) - 2nd : Abyss (Arakune) - 3rd : Zero no Shana (Taokaka) - 4th : Kekken (Tager) Top 4 vids : http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/12955350 We also did a little unofficial tourney with the player who lost in the final bracket of the solo (as it was direct elimination) on the secondary stage, sadly there were no recording device there so there's no vids of it, Champion (Ragna) won the final over 7r17r1 (Noel). I pretty much sucked all the way in the team tourney, i didn't played the game for a few and wasn't planning to enter it before Fidoskin contacted me. He pretty much did all the work for me, thanks to him and sorry i wasn't able to do better. Also thanks to Ronove for doing a great english commentary of the unoffcial tourney, IMO was better than the french one i did with Neithan for the solo tourney, too bad i wasn't able to let them do the streaming commentary. And of course thanks to all the players that came, i hope you enjoyed the event ^^

Ronove Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 (edited) Thought I'd post my comment and shoutous here as well. First off, shoutouts to Maho, Frionel and all the staff at WGC for making this happen. We were able to show a solid european community for this game even though we kind of missed players from a couple of countries (where were you brits? D: ) and I think the overall level of skill was real good! Me and my team mate placed top 5, got knocked out by Abyss' arakune. I was actually doing pretty well in round 2 against him and had a good health lead until I got trapped in the corner and was forced to eat the curse before I could get away with a counterassault... game over. Until then I think I did really well doing an OCV and playing well against Gallian/Tyzen's team. The solo tournament that took place the day after began with a little of a mess since sadly we only had one console that had two unlocked characters and my group had a Makoto and Valk and there was no console with Valk hence we had to wait a while until Zero brought his own 360 so that we could play. But I am not going to blame the organization for this, likely they didn't even know about the DLC characters which is why this occurred in first place. Anyway, missed the playoffs by a little, against Kyo's Makoto I was definetely too nervous and afraid of eating a j.B and ended up dropping a lot of stuff I shouldn't have, so props to him for having mantained the calm during that match. If I have one regret for this tournament was that the group stage matches weren't best of 3, afterall we had plenty of consoles available and it would have been possible to do that in order to lessen the chances of being "randomed out". Next time the tournament organization should definetely consider this option, afterall everybody agreed to add a loser bracket so why not making bo3 during the group phase as well? As for the shoutouts: Maho - we played a bit in freeplay and you are one solid player! I think I played my best games against you, everytime I'm up against someone who has a solid defense like yours I can't help but getting fired up, hehe. Your work in managing the tournament was really admirable, and thanks a lot for letting me commentate some of the matches! Fidoskin - It was nice to know you, and dude your Bang is a murderer! I think no one was expecting you to be this good, you definetely surprised everyone. Kyo, Abyss - jeez guys, I swear I'll have my revenge on you next time! It was fun playing with both of you! Kekken, Champion and the rest of the Slovenian crew - you guys are the BEST, period. To me and the rest of the italian community you are like the badass cousins that you'd like to always hang around with. Champion has the sickest defense I've ever seen offline, and Kekken as much as you try to act "low profile" by playing Tager you just have to remind everyone why you always make it atleast top 4 or top 3 at every tournament, haha. My regret was that I didn't really get to play you at all, but I guess we'll have other occasions especially if you guys decide to visit us at one of our ranbats in Milan. RcR and Bakanoobsama - it was nice meeting you guys, and it's cool to see there's also people playing BB in the Netherlands as well, you guys should try and contact my former sparring partner offline (Galrod), since he's moved from Italy to Utrecht to study. He could join you for a couple of games! The French community and all the other players - Tritri, Gallian, Tyzen and the others, it was a pleasure knowing you and playing against you. I definetely have learned a lot from this experience (being also the very first international tournament I attend to), and I am definetely looking forward to partecipate again next year and possibly improve my performance from top 5 to atleast top 3 :3 Edited March 11, 2011 by Ronove
Abyss Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Didn't see this thread before >< Fidoskin: It was great to speak with you, you're so cool =3 I hope we will meet again in another tourney. Ronove: Haha, I will waiting you ! thanks you to coming, really. There weren't a lot of non-french player, so i'm happy you've come to this tourney !
