  1. OK, let's take the console question seriously reaVer. 1/EVO the NA "supermajor" is (was?) sponsored by SONY, WGC the Euro one was sponsored by Microsoft (and IVGC will most likely be too), so most tournament in these regions are also run on these consoles, they've been for years... (people bought consoles & controllers to compete on them) 2/ Since a few years Namco Bandai & Arc System Works chose to focus on the SONY systems because the 360 didn't sell that well in Japan. It's just a huge hindrance to the international success of some games because NOT everybody owns both systems... (IE Bad Business) As a result of these two points most players bought the machine their friends had, to play the games they wanted to play. Let's take a breather here ^^. - Now you must have read the old TK argument before: most Tekken players play on PS3, because there are more players Online & because the tourneys are played on that platform (worldwide from South Africa to Russia, from Iran to Trinidad & Tobago). "If you like fighting games you play on PS3, Tekken is on PS3 & it is the most popular tournament fighting game in the World after all...". Except this argument really doesn't work if you don't play TK (or aren't a hardcore J-gamer...) and it REALLY doesn't for the European FGC as a whole... - Because there are WAY MORE people with 360 sticks than there are people with PS3 sticks & that's just a fact. (yep ^^; ) - Also most EU organizers own/have easier access to Xboxes & we ALL rely on what games we can get. (You wouldn't buy 8 copies of a game for a new system if you already had everything sorted for another, would you?) Now if you want to talk converters I'll be around
  2. @entnervt: The schedule is quite easy really: Detailed Schedule To optimize the available time, we will make sure to use it as to offer as much freeplay/casuals as possible. Saturday 18 10am-11am - Freeplay / Casuals 11am-9pm - Solo Tournaments 9pm-3am - Freeplay / Casuals Sunday 19 10am-11am - Freeplay / Casuals 11am-4pm - Tournaments Team 4pm-00am - Freeplay / Casuals @Ronove: DokuSaru is strictly non-profit, just come to me on Facebook/Twitter/Skype & I'll break every number for you. There is no mystery here, just ask ^^. (also keep in mind the venue fee IS included)
  3. Actually most players of the Euro FGC play the games on Xbox (and own Xbox sticks), so it really makes more sense to have most games on that platform. BBCP is only available on PS3, so we will just provide sticks for the people that need them ^^. Just bring whichever stick you own: we will make do .
  4. [iVGC Seeding Event] DokuSaru Arcsys & Marvel Tournament This event will take place on January 18th & 19th at Smartoys Liège, in Liege, Belgium. The single player Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 event is an official International Video Games Cup (IVGC) seeding event, and will follow its system (http://www.cannesivgc.com/the-ivgc-seeding-point-program/) 1/ Schedule - Singles events on Saturday 18 from 11 AM to 3 AM (CET) - A nightful of FGC shenanigans at an affordable yet comfy hotel (2 nights for 3 people for around 30€/pers. [or less if you're not picky]) (we strongly suggest you try to book at the local Ibis first) - Team events on Sunday 19 from 11 AM to 4 PM (for those who work on Mondays), with freeplay/casuals available until 12 PM ( for those who don't) 2/ The Games - BlazBlue ChronoPhantasma (PS3) - Guilty Gear XX Accent Core +R (Xbox360) - Persona 4 Arena/Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (Xbox360) - Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Xbox360) REGISTER NOW! 3/ The Rules We pay a fix venue fee of 4€ per player, and around 1€ per ticket in commissions. (these fees are of course included in the prices) Around 60% of the tournaments fees (we'll round it up, way up) will be redistributed as cash-prizes, various other prizes will also be given by our sponsors. The "missing 40%" will pay for the various unavoidable expenditures related to this event. DokuSaru is strictly non-profit: we're doing it for & with the community. All our tournaments use double elimination brackets. You will have two “lives” to spare: use them wisely. Our rules & regulations have been diehard tested in many tournaments and are readily available on our facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DokuSaruLiege, in French & English ), but they really are: Simple rules for a simple tournament. The WINNING captain can then choose who he/she wants to face him/her. >>> After that the winner of the match stays, and the loser's team can choose who they want to face him/her, and so on... ADDENDUM: As all registrations will now be made Online, the tournaments will begin earlier in the morning (don't be late!). As a result, the pools will be drawn in early February (with seeded players). This draw will affect all the console tournaments : Solo, Team, Master Series and World Team Cup events. The draw of The World Game Cup tournaments will be filmed & available as an Online Stream on the Website. Consequently, players will be able to check their pools and competitors (& their characters) before the tournaments! ------ Be advised that for all these tournaments, you must come with your own accessories (adapters included). The organization simply won't be able to lend pads, adapters and/or sticks. The WGC is a BYOC event! (bring your own controller, be it a pad or a stick) You will of course be allowed to borrow accessories from other players, but it mustn't be a bother or holdup the competition (as you might get disqualified if that's the case). All game controllers allowing macros/cheats are strictly forbidden, as are the activation of turbo/automatic modes on any allowed controller. ------ NEW THIS YEAR 1/The Casual Play Area will be built around 8 to 16 screens. It will be co-run by the SWGA and Games Culture Associations. There, you'll be able to play all the games in competition in the Console Tournaments & some of the games played in the Arcade Tournaments (if a XBOX 360 version exists at the time of the event, like KOF2002 UM, for instance). But you will also find a few neat surprises in the consoles hard drives like MOTW or SSF2 HD REMIX (and more...). Casual tournaments will be organized throughout the day. These Casual (free) tournaments will spice up your days. Please don't hesitate to come & visit the Casual Area! We'd like to thank the SWGA and Games Culture Associations for their support on this year's edition. 2/ Watch the Steam: basgrospoing.fr, the famous fighting games news website will be our partner for the WGC2011. Thanks to them, you'll have access to a continuous flow of fresh news (results, reports, etc.). What's more, the BGP Team will hug the mike on the stream, spilling a moist flow of fresh editorial nuggets and atmospheric comments, LIVE from the WGC grounds. And don't forget, the Stream will run non-stop during the three days of competition thanks to the fine people of the GNOUZ CORP! 3/ A Guest of Honor for the World Game Cup 2011 After a 2010 edition dedicated to Capcom fans*, with the presence of star players Daigo, Eïta, Fuudo & Desora, in 2011 it will be Arc System's devotees turn to nerdgasm.
