Just wondering what are the best characters to use for someone that plays on a xbox 360 controller? I have no intention of buying a arcade stick and I hear that for alot of characters in the game you need a stick to play them to their fullest potential. So im just wondering what are the characters that can be mastered using a controller. Well not so much mastered but at least played at high level.

I been using a 360 controller for a year and a 1/2 now and I can tell you that you can play every character at a high level with one except of Carl. Carl is the only one that I feel a 360 controller user has a disadvantage, but that's it....

Also, I don't use the d-pad. I don't know why people would use the d-pad over the analog stick. The analog stick is obviously the next best thing from a arcade stick, I never even thought twice about it. Its not nearly as difficult as people make it out to be, just get used to it.

The only character I can perceive an actual advantage on with stick (you being better/worse with stick notwithstanding) is Carl, since you need to be able to negedge and you can't really do that and press other buttons with one thumb. Even with him you can always map Drive to R1 or something.

you could always start off super easy and Main Tager for a few months. Learning the very basics for him takes less than 10 minutes.

I used to use the analog for MvC2 but then switched to the pad because its much better for the that game as well as SSF4. So its kind of grown on me for all fighting games. I think i'll just stick to the Pad. Its probably more a matter of preference then anything when it comes to BB.

When i press up(8) on the pad it will always be up

When i press up(8) on the analog sometimes i hit Up left(7) or Up(8) or Up right (9) ( Thats just me :toot:)

Pretty much only use the analog for 360 motions and half circle motions when im using Nirvana .Other than that it prob is just preference

Carl can be used on controller perfectly fine.........

I'd like to say this.

But honestly, I think you can't play Carl to the extent of his abilities with a pad. Just soooo many directional inputs to be consistent.

I just honestly don't think so.

I didn't say curse loop was hard. I was referring to negative edging the CD bugs. I personally have trouble with that kind of stuff on pad because I have very big hands so I can't really do 236C and then immediatelly NE D because my thumb is an asshole.

Yo, Big hands.....

....big gloves.

there is button settings on controll so that you can have each finger go on a button you know....

Well I play stick so... moot point. Regardless playing that way can be very uncomfortable. If someone really wants to learn Carl or Ara that way then best of luck but they'd save themselves some trouble by just getting a fightpad/stick. I should mention my opinion is based off of the 360 controller and that I do know people who map shoulder buttons on PS3 pad with no issues.

@ZONG it's actually funny you say that. Had to go find some leather gloves that fit for my trip to Japan the other day. No luck... Stupid ass palms...

I totally agree with everybody who mentioned Carl is more amazing on stick, but I also think its the same for Litchi. Its not impossible to play her on a high level with a pad ,but if your really "SERIOUS" about playing those kinds of character's (Carl,Litchi) then its time to invest in a stick!

After playing carl so long on controller/pad im pretty confident that i could pull off the same things that another Carl main could pull off on stick. My carls not all that amazing but i can get by with him just fine on controller. Maybe he can be played on stick to his full extent but i would not know cuz ive never played on a stick. :v:

It prob just seems that way when someone trys to play either of those characters A(X) B(Y) C(B) D(A)

Or.....the ps3 way but i dont know the button layout( Square, triangle,O, X?) Not sure about litchi but for carl it makes it to where you cant input moves for Nirvana and Carl at the same time which makes me understand what people mean when they say you cant play them right. Though most people dont try to change the controls around and play the character on controller......:psyduck:

eh you play whatever makes you feel most comfortable. My guess is that you're just starting out so when playing with either controller or stick, take the time to learn Ragna first, seeing as he's the most basic, well-rounded characters anyone can start with (I admit when CT came out, I skipped out on playing Rags because he looked exactly like Sol and Sol was my main in XX, Slash, and #Reload. I regret nothing. :psyduck: )

Back on topic, play around with Ragna and see how he feels. Meanwhile think about investing in a stick, either building or buying and modding. If you go the build/modding route, there's many guides on the internet about doing the best mod for your stick.

The stick on a arcade stick isn't even analog, if it was, not many people would be using a stick imo.

Negative Edging on the Pad is not hard in the slightest. Arakune being 'stick nessessary', is garbage. The only reason I'm bad with Arakune is my own lack of skill. :eng101:

That being said, the easiest character to use on the pad, and this may be controversial, but I'm going to say Hazama. Hazama's moves and combos feel strategic and robotic. Which suits the pad. No High Jump Cancels or anything like that are needed. 214D~B used to be a pain to do on reaction on the pad until I realised I could do 214D~R2 with R2 set to A+B, which made it a lot easier. Plus it feels nice because it feels like I'm pulling a trigger to do it.:kitty:

Good to know. Hazama is actually one of my main characters anyways. Well my only main character until Valkenhayn is released =)

Carl, Arakune < stick is a must

Litchi, Rachel < stick is very recommended unless u r good at clawing(meaning use two fingers for buttons)

everybody else can be used very effectively by using a controller

this is from my experience(please correct me if I am wrong)

I think your completely right. I used to main Litchi and play on a controller and its very difficult to pull off some of her harder combos on a controller. Theres always the option to change your buttons around to make D RB but I didn't want to do that since I played more then just Litchi and had already adjusted to the default settings. I think to play characters like Carl and Litchi on PAD you have to be completely dedicated to that character and that character alone and most likely change your controls around. Since I like playing about 6 diff characters in the game it really wasn't worth it to me. Still got love for Litchi though and use her sometime but don't plan on mastering her or becoming really high level with her.
