Mr Oso Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I think to play characters like Carl and Litchi on PAD you have to be completely dedicated to that character and that character alone and most likely change your controls around. Not sure about other people but im not dedicated to JUST Carl. I actually change my controls when i play carl and change them back when i switch to another character with no problem. Just kinda seems like people never put forth the effort and just said its to hard. Oh and i dont have to spend $100 to play a character correctly
Fatal By Nature Posted September 13, 2010 Author Posted September 13, 2010 Not sure about other people but im not dedicated to JUST Carl. Just kinda seems like people never put forth the effort and just said its to hard. Oh and i dont have to spend $100 to play a character correctly No, I dont think its a matter of being to hard or not. The main point was whether or not a character could be played to their fullest potential on PAD. Believe me OSO I have no intention of spending $100 on a stick either.
Mr Oso Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 IMO i feel Carl can be played to his full potential on Controller(Analog/Pad). Cant really speak on the other characters but id figure those characters would have to change there controls around a bit . *shrug*
Zeromus_X Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Litchi, Rachel < stick is very recommended unless u r good at clawing(meaning use two fingers for buttons) Eh, I dunno about Rachel. For most of her stuff that you need to press two buttons at once, you can just press two buttons with your thumb (assuming default configuration, if you reconfigure D to R1 or something go nuts).
xSagez Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Arakune: Easy Bang: Easy Carl: Hard Jin: Easy Lambda: Little more difficult. Still, "Easy" Litchi: Easy Mu: Easy Noel: Hard (all her 22's and 66's aren't easy) Rachel: Easy Ragna: Beginner Tager: Intermediate Taokaka: Easy Tsubaki: Easy Makoto: Easy Platinum: Unknown Valkenhayn: IDK EDIT: Hakumen: Easy Hazama: Easy
Spirit Juice Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Why even put Valkenhayn and Platinum on there when they're not even out yet?
Sophisticat Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 ^^ Forgot Haku. Haku's easy on pad except for dashing in a pinch if you use the analog stick. Because they tightened up the dash inputs, sometimes the analog reads your 66 as 63, so it doesn't come out and you get CH'd instead. I use TK more now just because of this.
xSagez Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Why even put Valkenhayn and Platinum on there when they're not even out yet? Im trying to make them feel part of the group. STOP CASTING PPL OUT LIKE THAT... lolz
Sharakonta Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Sage you forgot one other person. Hazama
mundus Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Tager should be hard, IB 720 on a pad is probably the hardest thing to do in the game, or maybe i just suck, much easier with a stick though (i switched to stick 6-7 months ago).
sergetrigger Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Ps3 dpad > 360 analog > 360 dpad I swear, that 360 dpad is just terrible. When I was playing #reloaded, I kept messing up so many jc's with it, tried the analog and my game improved... Not by much since some of my inputs were still being read wrong. Same goes for when I was playing CT on both consoles, Bang's combos were a lot harder to do on the 360's analog than the ps3 dpad. I think if I had an arcade stick, it would make bang's game a lot easier especially trying to combo into astral.
feri Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 People who say you need a stick for arakune/carl just arent actually good on pad. Using a pad or stick is no excuse for bad input, your lack of practice is. Edit: I would not be surprised if someone had tight as hell input on analog (or even xbox dpads lol) if they put the hard work into it.
zdravkelja Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Playing on gamepad is almost impossible for me The biggest problems are 623 and 6232146 motions, IADs and any combo that requires fast inputs... I also miss instant blocks at the end of opponent's strings... I ended up with Haku. He is slow, doesn't have so fast movements and combos so I can manage him. But not as nearly as good as with keyboard. But I shold make a stick by the end of the week, so... Goodbye to crappy gamepad
Eshi Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Noel: Hard (all her 22's and 66's aren't easy)completely disagree. when I have to play on xbox controllers with my friends I almost always choose noel because haida loops are easy to execute on pad.
Sadeyo Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I can't believe I just read Rachel as "easy" when it comes to using her on pad. Well somethings are easy besides her Lobelia manipulation which makes them go at different angles and her combos that requires two winds. ex. 3c 3d 8d 5b 6a BBL xn<---This one combo alone requires many directional and same button input and it's practically essential to net some good damage with her in CS. She's like "Moderately Hard" as there are still more options for her compared to most of the cast.
AdamNW Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I imagine CS Arakune is a bit of a hassle on controller. Negative edging for curse loops/setups could be annoying. His loops are hilariously easy to do on a pad. CT Arakune was the harder one to use.
ikeTATARI Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 You could play on pad. Or you could spend 40~50 dollars on a stick specific to the system you play on. Sticks aren't really expensive anymore, and there are so many to choose from - at least, if you want to keep it to one specific system. My opinion though, easiest character to play on pad would have to fit these criteria (for me, personally) - Not a lot of dash cancels in their combos, not a lot of high jump cancels, and not a lot of crazy inputs (720s, tk9's, etc). With that said, I play Lambda on a pad (waiting on my stick) and do just fine - if you can TK crescent saber with the analog stick, you can do anything you would be able to do on a stick on a pad. The only thing I miss on on are the 236C 5CCCCCCCC 6C 66 2DD tk214D 66DD -> air combo combos, but that's pretty ridiculous anyways (and not integral to her gameplay).
Skye Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Ragna, Bang, Jin, Tager, conventional combo characters in general.
Black Onslaught Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Ragna, Jin, Hakumen, Bang and Tager are easiest on pad.
NumeroGaijin Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I think all characters are easy on pad. I think the hardest one on pad though is carl but with practice he can and will be as easy as any other character.
Urichinan Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Bang, Hakumen, Jin, Ragna, Tager Makoto, and Tsubaki are the easiest on pad, Tager's 360/720 is about the hardest thing out of these guys. Arakune, Hazama, Taokaka and Noel are pretty hard to play on the pad, a lot of dashes, feints and canceling with them. Litchi and Rachel are hard to play on the pad, a lot of dashing, multiple inputs in a very fast manner, negative edging and canceling with these two. Carl is the hardest on the pad, you have to use TWO PEOPLE at the SAME TIME. That should speak for itself.
GenoWhirl Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Rachel isn't hard to play on pad Unless you're a fag like me and BBL doesn't come out consistently
Lufenia Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Rachel isn't hard to play on pad Unless you're a fag like me and BBL doesn't come out consistently Luffy gives you karma. I think rachel's pretty easy on pad too, but we've had lots of practice with her. so maybe it does take some getting used to, no matter who you play :C except for like.. bang/rag/tager/haku.
Mucky Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Luffy gives you karma. I think rachel's pretty easy on pad too, but we've had lots of practice with her. so maybe it does take some getting used to, no matter who you play :C except for like.. bang/rag/tager/haku. CT bang felt very comfortable on pad. Then CS came out and his new j.4C move drove me into a maddened rage every time I tried to use it.
