Sanoshi Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 (edited) As many of you know, Arcade Infinity has been around in Southern California for years supporting the fighting game community. Although they did place 2nd in Stride's "Save the Arcade" Competition held this year, they did everything within their power to keep AI going until now. After 10 years of great business, memories and experiences, they are now closing their doors. The news has spread and everyone who knows about this disaster in Rowland Heights are making their last few trips to visit. If you've been to AI before or have always wanted to go and see this fantastic arcade, now is definitely the time to do it! Thus, Eddie Lehecka and Scott Tsai have decided to do a large meet up to show their support and thanks to Arcade Infinity! If you're interested in information and going to this memorable farewell event (and you have facebook!), here is the event page for "Arcade Infinity -End of an Era- Meetup": http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=134465213280491 --------------------- The information for the gathering and other events will be listed below: Where/Location:Arcade Infinity 1380 Fullerton Rd # 206 Rowland Heights, CA When/Date:Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00pm - Sunday, January 16, 2011 at 12:00am >> If there are any changes of date for this gathering, i'll update anything that is needed << --------------------- Other Events @ AI Before Close: SSF4 Tourny: http://shoryuken.com/f7/arcade-infinity-presents-last-hurrah-ssf4-console-singles-tournament-1-9-a-260789/index2.html Information on the closing of AI and Articles: Event Page on Facebook Really Explains it all: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=134465213280491 SRK AI Thread: http://shoryuken.com/f24/arcade-infinity-end-era-closing-jan-15th-216126/index188.html IPlayWinners' Article: http://iplaywinner.com/news/2010/12/27/arcade-infinity-to-close-its-doors-january-15th.html Arcade Heroes Article: http://arcadeheroes.com/2010/12/28/arcade-infinity-closing-its-doors-january-15th/ --------------------- Come and show your support and visit AI when you can! SLEDGE Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 any reason why this happened? at least I have the satisfaction of visiting this arcade once in my life. the hour long ride was no fun, mind you.
WiCKED Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 any reason why this happened? at least I have the satisfaction of visiting this arcade once in my life. the hour long ride was no fun, mind you. I think some combination of rent hikes, the city hates them and lack of business. Bump for going (hopefully), though I think I'll be going during the daytime rather than the evening. I think I'm going to leave a vase of flowers at the door as sign of my mourning
SLEDGE Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 gee, why can't they move closer to me? they can take the spot all amusement had. no one cares about that beauty saloon. =)
ZONG_one Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I'll go if they put an ashtray on the bb and gg cabs, just so I can smoke while I play.. I mean.. come on. You guys are closing, so it should be fine, right?

You guys are closing, so it should be fine, right? Too bad they aren't. :D AI is being saved by the owners of Diamond Plaza. After seeing all of the public outcry over the closing, and how active this particular event page has been since the announcement, they've worked out a deal with AI to significantly help their operating costs and keep the arcade open for an unspecified period of time. While currently the arrangements that the landlords have made with the city of Rowland Heights regarding AI's business license will only cover them for 6 more months, they're working out arrangements to extend it up to a period of 3 years. We'll know the outcome of this sometime in March when the approval is made or denied.
