RyuRobin Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I want to get 100% of the story.. So.. I should get original Guilty Gear, Guilty Gear X and.. should I get both Guilty Gear XX vanilla and Guilty Gear XX Reload? As in : I know Reload is a better version of vanilla in terms of gameplay but what about the story? I know that Accent Core isn't worth getting since AC+ is a better version of it that actually has a story mode (Which is a sequel to GGXX if I understand correctly) So.. I'll get for sure: Guilty Gear Guilty Gear X Guilty Gear XX #Reload Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus Guilty Gear Isuka I won't get: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core vanilla And I'm unsure if I should get, or not get: Guilty Gear XX vanilla. Thanks!
JinSaotome Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Don't worry about the story, it will never get finished because Daisuke averages like 1 line of dialogue per decade. Even Overture, which was supposed to be a continuation of the story, divulges almost no new information and recaps all the stuff thats been recapped in every story (War of the gears, JUSTCIE OMGZ, etc) If you're dead set on it though, #Reload and XX have the same story, so just get Reload. IMO if you want to save money just get AC+ for gameplay and Isuka because its hilarious.
RyuRobin Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. GGXX#R > GGXX in terms of gameplay, right? And GGAC+ > GGAC? amirite? (Just asking because I think it's possible that Arksys tried to balance the game but screwed it up lol) So I should get everything besides GGXX vanilla and Accent Core vanilla? I like collecting games so I'll get both AC+ and XX#R, because I can feel the difference in gameplay (I've played both) and the different story mode
redsilversnake Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 The original doesn't have an actual story mode, so you shouldn't get your hopes up on that one. It does have cutscenes with Testament and Justice, and every character except them and Baiken have their own endings, but aside from that, everything's in the manual and supplementary material. X also doesn't have a story mode. X+ does, but that was never released in the U.S. (there is a full English transcript, though; just look for Blade and click his signature). And Isuka is more of a side game than anything and doesn't contribute to the overall story, so the only reason for you to pick it up is for the silly gameplay. As for AC versus AC+, they're the same gameplay-wise, but AC+ has a different story mode than #Reload and two characters that aren't in AC, as well as more modes.
RyuRobin Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 (edited) What bout GGXX vs GGXX#R? So.. since the original and GGX don't have actual story modes should I skip them? (I see a guy selling GGX for like 8-10 bucks or so (6 euros if you're from europe), should I buy it? I'm thinking since it's that good of a deal I should get it :P) I'll read the GGX+ transcript I guess. And I know Isuka doesn't have much story but the silly gameplay actually seems fun + I like collecting lol xD Oh and sorry for all the stupid questions and THANKS for the answers! Fenrir Werwolf Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 For the story the first GG for ps1 and GG Overture. GG X and XX Have side stories...but if you need take #R, that have simply refined gameplay. GG X have no story mode, just a picture for the endings so... isuka is trash in every aspect. BTW if you're interested in actually playing the game, head also for AC, since it's the one played in japan, tournaments etc.
