Not so much online. Still alive offline in Norcal.

However, a surprising number of very high level JP players still play online every now and then.

I play online in Japan. Every now and then I run into some real kill killers. The best bet to meet them is in a player match lobby. For some reason, Ranked has more beginners and intermediate players.

You have to be in Japan to enjoy the online of this game. I always make a room to see if there's anyone in the US that wants to fight, especially those who just want the Player Match trophy. I would go to Norcal if it wasn't so far away.

This game is still alive?

Don't even remember the last time I played AP

There's like... 5 of us who play this in the Maryland area lol

Online is close to being a completely different game from offline. Even the tiers change quite a bit for the online game. Like Manaka, Riannon, Hak, and Sasara becoming super buff when there are several (5+) frames of lag to worry about, while Tamaki, Touka, and Konomi become almost unplayable. Even Chizuru suffers.

I probably forgot everything I know about this game now

This game is the reason why I haven't been making that many Youtube videos. It's hard to put it down.

I've played online in Japan, and also in the Philippines. From my experience I think this is true for most games. The exception is UMVC3, which has absolutely terrible garbage netcode no matter where you are.

UMvC3's online was always terrible, glad I dropped that game completely last year. (after I platinumed it)

There's no such thing as a fighting game, where you have good connection with Japanese people is there? This is the first fighting game I played online for the PS3, so I don't know. The online isn't exactly worldwide, if US and Japan can't play with each other due to bad connection.

I have had smooth connections with Japanese Virtua Fighter 5: FS players before. Sega doesn't get enough recognition for being netcode wizards.

I can get a fluctuating two to three bar connection with JP. Sometimes I luck out and get a steady three bar, though most JP players opt to just play one game and leave with that kind of connection.

From Tokyo, I am able to have good games against some but not all US players in Skullgirls as well as Marvel vs Capcom 2. Basically rollback netcode makes it possible but anything based on input delay is hopeless.

Here's a warning. If NerdEssa comes into your room, just kick him out. We startled two matches and all he did was stand there doing nothing. He kept coming back in after I kicked him, while interrupting my 2C punish training. By the way I have found some combos with Hakuoro/Camyu. 8000+ damage with just two meter, which is a lot better than the Fujin Ransen super that only does 6530. If any other Hakuoro/Camyu mains wants to see the combos, I can make a video. I wish I knew about these combos earlier. So many big damage opportunities missed.

Pretty much any ArcSys netcode fighter will have a good connection if you let the fight buffer during the intro. BlazBlue and Arcana Heart 3, at least. I haven't played GGX2 online.

Did you guys know that if you use Hakuoro's Witsarunemitea splash art on Arawn, Oboro, Morgan and Chizuru while their are in low emotion, it will guard break them and still deal 10000 damage? These characters guard break the fastest and I think it's the reason why Chizuru's health slowly regenerates. You're gonna need a way to get in though, or use it when their trying to jump in. It doesn't matter if they block while they are in low emotion and the splash art is almost impossible to impact guard. Konomi will guard break too but only take 8913 damage. All the other characters requires more block stun.

Actually, that super is fairly easy to impact guard offline since you get such a wide window, so long as you just normal block the first few hits.

Of course, that is much different from online because of lag.

How do you impact guard every hit? I tried it before in training mode and couldn't do it.

Posted

You don't have to impact guard every hit; just enough of the hits to avoid guardbreak.

You can watch for the block stun and attempt during the block stun since you get a 9 frame window per hit.

Tapping back rapidly during the block stun will auto impact guard maybe 70% of the hits for you without having to do anything special.

I can only impact guard the first hit. I did get lucky one time and impact guard four times. Can anyone tell me what's the max damage of Tamaki's giant swing and the super version? I can't do it with my pad and it hurts my hand. I know the screen is suppose to turn red when you get the max damage.

Edit: Never mind I just remembered that frame data website has the damage:  http://aquapazza.wikia.com/wiki/Frame_Data_%28Tamaki%29
