Cyner Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Cyner, yOu need to skip that smash tournament and come here. Not only is BlazBlue more competitive and takes actual skill rather than what Sakurai wills, but IM RUNNING THIS, so you are guaranteed good times and great laughs and antics. BlazBlue + Marvel is way better --and-- you have Brighter potential future with BB rather than Smash. SEARCH INTO YOR HEART, YOU KNOW THIS TO BE TRUE. Coming from me, I know both sides of this and it's not a simple biased opinion. Come on over to us, Cyner. I'll even house you if you'd like. If you're refering to Brawl, I'll agree that it takes no skill and it isn't even a fighting game but mario party with more characters. Melee on the other hand is actually a fighting game that takes tremendous skill and is ridiculously fun. I also know that BB is amazing and that MvC3 will be tons of fun. It's just hard to justify a 3 hour trip by myself, especially with my gas destroying car. I need some way to find Memphis BB peeps who'll take rides with me.

Hit up Runaway7 and VTS if they're still around. I know Fizz plays. Be like "Look brosauces, we need to go to Nashville and rock out." And they'll be like "Ohshi- you're right! Vroom vroom!" Done. But srsly. You need to come along. Unfortunately, I don't know any Memphis BB players. All the smash players I know that were Memphis are in Alabama(Chad and Co.) or somewhere else, now. Edit: Pyramid Cafe's Rice. Your trip is now justified. (Or the badass arcade that this event is being allowed to run in/next to)
Grimstar Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I think we should change this tournament to "MTNMvC3" for this month :D Holy shit Cyner, I just realized you were from HERE and not Shoryuken... lol my bad. That's why I was so confused, there's a guy on SRK that goes by the name of Cylus, so I thought you were him the other night... my bad homie
Milln Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 I think we should change this tournament to "MTNMvC3" for this month :D It'll be MTNG for Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming next month if MvC3 does good. Edit: Did you guys make a Gamefaqs or Shoryuken post for MTN~?
Astaroth136 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 MvC3 and BB makes this so much hype-r. Screw AH3. (Although, the grappler looks crazy as hell in that game)
LastStarSaviour Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Whoa, whoa, whoa. Nobody disses my Arcana!!!!! NOBODY!!!!!!!!!
Milln Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Whoa, whoa, whoa. Nobody disses my Arcana!!!!! NOBODY!!!!!!!!! Nobody's dissing what Arcana you use. lawlawlalwalwalwlawlawlalwlwalwl Dude, Astaroth. There's an Arcana called Orichalcum that you CHARGE during the match (as in you take time out and you press a button and go into a powerup stance) that looks like a lot of the Kira(the name of the grappler character) players seem to be using in Arcana Heart 3 cause she can do that super high throw and then do the sword circle super, or even the summon super and have it actually connect.
Grimstar Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 (edited) Uhh... I mean I could tell the SRK guys that we'll have MvC3 going if you're seriously considering it at the next MTNBB. I know Richard wants to go for BB. MvC3 would bring some more people, I think they would be cool about watching BB when they aren't playing MvC3. But are we talking doing 2 tournaments? Or casual side MvC3 stuff? Edited February 13, 2011 by Grimstar
Milln Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 I can roll two tournaments. I don't know about at the same time, since no one wants to bring any setups, unless the new MvC3 players do. Is there a recommended rule set I can look at?
Grimstar Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 Uhh... from what I can tell, just a 99 second time limit, and damage set to "medium" (default settings) There's no real word about any character bans or any specific rulings yet that I'm aware of. We just went with default settings, first to 2, for the MvC3 tourney yesterday.
Seiki Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I can roll two tournaments. I don't know about at the same time, since no one wants to bring any setups, unless the new MvC3 players do. Is there a recommended rule set I can look at? I really think feb 26 should be focused on just blazblue. I dont want two tournies with hardly enough setups for one. That being said it would be cool to see mvc monthlies but whether that is at the same time as blazblue monthlies is up to whoever's decision, but it's important we keep it all under a schedule. We could do a biweekly??MvC at the middle of every month and bb at the end? or vice versa? idk. If doing a biweekly or w/e that causes us to have a more frequent visit at game galaxy should at least lower the venue fee a bit right?
Milln Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 (edited) I won't be able to host a biweekly cause they'll be on Saturdays. Management in retail designates I can reliably only ask off for one because I need to be in my store driving sales. Three to Four (what we had last time) setups was enough and we got done on schedule with enough time for screwing around and lots of casuals, including a long lunch break. We even started LATE and were on time. If new players come that are attracted by MvC3, I expect them to bring at least two full setups. Given the pacing of both BlazBlue and MvC3, I don't think time will be an issue. I just downloaded tio, so I can now promise more smoothly running brackets that you can look at at any time instead of me running around with ol' BracketBuddy on my phone. It's more than possible to run them both at the same time or one right after the other. I just need people to bring their stuff from home. Of course, we don't even HAVE TO HAVE MvC3 tourneys, I just thought it'd be fun. Edit: Updated first post under Other Announcements to reflect a few changes that I felt would be nice to know. Edited February 14, 2011 by Milln
Grimstar Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Talk to Jason about it Milln, he setup the last MvC3 tourney. I don't know how you guys do the whole venue thing and the financial aspect, but I'm also not sure if he is planning on doing more MvC3 himself or what...
Astaroth136 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 We would have more time for MvC3 if we didn't do BB doubles. Just sayin'...
LastStarSaviour Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hm, I kinda liked the idea of MTNBB being solely about BlazBlue, but that's just me. I've played MvC3, can't say i'm a big fan of it. I say screw all other games and we keep the BB hype alive. Feels like MvC3 is slowly trying to drain away BB's hype, but again that's just me
Grimstar Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 That's because it is draining away BB's hype. Besides, adding Marvel will bring in more people, several of which I have talked to at the last Marvel tourney about Blazblue, and a lot of them expressed interest in it, but have never quite gotten around to trying it out, or playing it competitively.
Astaroth136 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Once CS2 rolls around, BB will get a little bit of its hype back. Also, by hosting MvC3 with it, it could DEFINITELY get more attention for more players to join us. This is, after all, Milln's goal.
Astaroth136 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Oh wow, me and Grim edited at the same and pretty much said the exact same thing...
LastStarSaviour Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I guess, it's just something about that game that doesn't sit well with me *sighs*. I suppose if people are coming for that then i'll try my hardest to get on board with the bandwagon. It's...just....something........don't know what it is. Fck it, I need to look to the stars on this one!!!!!!
Grimstar Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 But it plays a lot like Blazblue does... hell they're even using similar notation for it's combos and inputs o_o
Milln Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 Mvc3 is considerably faster paced than BB. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 confirmed for MTN~3. BlazBlue will still he hosted first and we will still be recording all matches possible. MvC3 will likely be held afterwards inside Game Galaxy and no one is -forcing- anyone to play mvc3 or even leave the staging room. Grim and Asta have it completely correct. The goal of Middle Tennessee Needs~ is to bring people together and give everyone a place to beat the crap out of each other. BlazBlue is always going to be held and I will always do my best to hype that shiz up. Simply, we'll incorporate more games as interesting and accessible ones come out. Midnight and Papstr know I'm always looking for crazy new games. /Moving TO Speech I'll make a better post and update the front page when I get home at around ten.
Grimstar Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Marvel really isn't that much faster paced actually. It's sort of like BB in that it LOOKS fast, but not a lot is really going on, lol
LastStarSaviour Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Fine, fine I hear ya guys. As long as BB gets its proper dues i'll try my hardest to be hype for watever games come at us. The Wheel Of Hype Is Turning!!!!
Lycan Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Hi there, Lycan here. I just wanted to let the TO know that there is a tournament in Memphis on the same date also running MvC3. I am not trying to make an big issue of this, I just wanted to let you know since it is a common courtesy within our community to let each other know!
