LastStarSaviour Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Well, I managed to pull some strings, I will definitely make it on Saturday. Looks like my perfect attendance record will stay intact. Three more days til MTN. GET HYPE!!!! Edited May 25, 2011 by LastStarSaviour
Milln Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 It's super short notice, so were not gonna do mk9 at this upcoming MTNG. Thank you for your thoughts. -Possibly- July.
Astaroth136 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I think you may have blocked communications from me on XBL by accident. Send me a message on XBL and it will fix the problem.
Grimstar Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 (edited) lol MK: when Americans try to make a fighting game. My issues with MK9: *projectiles pass through each other Eh, I'm on the fence on this. *blockstrings do chip damage Meh. *combos do too much damage Makes for faster matches, I like it. Plus if you're playing it right, breakers are a heavy counter to this anyways. *Xray does too much damage Agreed. *buffer system is too lenient, makes for a lot of unintentional inputs You just dial it. Don't try to time it. At all. *you can make several moves be reversals on wakeup with 8 frames of invul. some of them being relatively safe Raiden'D. *Several characters have a teleport which ruins the spacing aspect of the game to some degree. Raiden'D. *As the metagame progresses I see it boiling down to this: projectile game --> teleport in ---> blockstring----> jump away ---> rinse and repeat As you can tell from the tier list already characters who don't have a projectile suffer greatly and those who don't have teleports also do but not as much as those without a projectile. Unless they do some dramatic changes the game will be flushed out in a year. Nah, almost every character's teleport is unsafe (except for fucking Raiden) and most of the projectile spammers can be countered WITH teleports relatively easily. You can bait teleports really easily. And punish them very easily. Same with projectiles. It's a good mix. Needless to say, I'm up for a MK tourney. Fo damn sho. Edited May 26, 2011 by Grimstar

Klein Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 So yeah, took me until now to realize I don't have any kind of xbox peripheral. Anyone got a spare stick or even pad+cord I can borrow for the duration of the tournament?
Astaroth136 Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Just borrow people's pad/stick throughout the tournament. We don't mind sharing. Unless, someone does in fact bring a spare one.
Milln Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Just to be clear, I added a rule regarding infinites and glitches in mvc3 to the front page. Game feels like Smash Bros. Brawl with the amount of stupid bs in it.
Jackie Chandler Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 So yeah, took me until now to realize I don't have any kind of xbox peripheral. Anyone got a spare stick or even pad+cord I can borrow for the duration of the tournament? I have a spare wireless Tekken fight stick I always bring to MTN, and no one ever uses it. You're more than welcome to use that for the duration of the tourney, but if you'd rather borrow someone else's since the majority of stick-users seem to think it's of crappy quality, I wouldn't be offended. Also... Update on the videos. In a cruel twist I should have expected, my computer seems to have trouble uploading them. It gets a few percent of the video up, then the ETA on the finishing time goes up to matters of DAYS. I (stupidly) thought it might be something with my internet connection, but after doing a couple tests with my mom's laptop it seems it's just my computer. Needless to say I'll be transferring all the videos to an external hard drive, then to her laptop to upload these two month old videos. Ugh. This is the last time I'll be using my computer for anything more than recording. The rest of the editing and uploading will be done on my parents' computers so I can get these to you guys in time that you all actually care about the videos.
Klein Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 @Jackie I might take you up on that offer. I mean, I put up with Snipe's unmodded SF SE that drops inputs and just doesn't feel natural, so I'm kinda used to sticks that're less than amazing so to speak.

I think it's more of a comfortability issue than an internal hardware issue so to speak, but I'll let you try it out before you decide.
Milln Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 MTNG: We record videos and don't upload them. Sf Se sticks make me laugh and sigh at the same time. Papstr has his that I gave to him along with some seimitsu buttons that he has now made his own. I'm proud of my Papstr.

Projectiles beat teleports and teleports beat non projectile approaches. As far as teleports being unsafe as long as someone throws out an attack or tries to establish some offense the opponent's teleports are practically safe because I haven't seen a character with an attack that has a hitbox behind them. And teleports are especially safe when you use the ex versions for some which has super armor.

You can't just throw out teleports wheneverdafuk unless you're Raiden. It's really more like SF where you play more towards anti-airs and throws, and doing small counter hits to get your damage, rather than always going for combos.
Seiki Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Milln I'll make sure to bring your copy of MvC3 back. I don't even want to play MvC3 anymore, it ruins my fundamentals and makes me a worse BB player =(
Grimstar Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 believe it or not I feel like MK has actually helped improve my fundamentals.
Seiki Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 believe it or not I feel like MK has actually helped improve my fundamentals. If it has helped you "improve" your fundamentals then you had none in the first place.
Astaroth136 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I'm about to leave. Everyone who has MvC3, be sure to bring a copy (we always have plenty of Blazblue copies). We're gonna have a lot of setups thanks to Milln.

It's a slower paced game, so it helps a lot with basic punishing stuff on block. And it has a lot of simplistic stuff like mind games with sweep, throws, uppercuts, etc Edited May 28, 2011 by Grimstar
