Jackie Chandler Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Finally!A fighting game tournament I might actually be able to go to one day:D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCi4mIdU54c But yeah, what Doromac said. Check this thread out. It's at the same location as MTN, except it's a three day event of different fighting games/tournaments. Hope you can make it- newcomers are always welcome. :D
Top_Cat Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Hey milln, do you think you could house me on the saturday of the mwc weekend?
Jackie Chandler Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 For what it's worth, my parents have effectively disallowed me from staying the night somewhere besides home for MWC, so I won't be needing housing. I also apparently can "only go one day" despite it being a two day event, but since I figure that's only because my parents can be overprotective douchebags, I might be able to swing driving up both days if I pay for my own gas money. And this is a prime example of why it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. Ugh.

Astaroth136 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 All further discussions should be taken over to the MWC thread to hype it up.
Milln Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 All further discussions should be taken over to the MWC thread to hype it up. Listen to Astaroth. I answered all questions directed at me in The MWC Thread and until June 27th, we should use The MWC Thread for all discussions and hype. For the next 25 days, The MWC Thread is substituting for this one, so post there. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11867-MWC-SBO-JAPANESE-QUAL-SUPER-TURBO!-JUN-24-26-Fri-Sat-Sun-Nashville-TN-BBCS2-AH3-MVC3 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11867-MWC-SBO-JAPANESE-QUAL-SUPER-TURBO!-JUN-24-26-Fri-Sat-Sun-Nashville-TN-BBCS2-AH3-MVC3 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?11867-MWC-SBO-JAPANESE-QUAL-SUPER-TURBO!-JUN-24-26-Fri-Sat-Sun-Nashville-TN-BBCS2-AH3-MVC3
Jackie Chandler Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 So. Video progress. It took a while, but I managed to get the videos from my computer to an external hard drive, from the external hard drive to my mom's computer, and from my mom's computer to iMovie. I haven't used iMovie in a long time, so it blew my mind when I found out four hours of video was going to take 22 hours to process with thumbnails and whatever being generated. O_o Anyway, I'm saying fuck trying to get all of these up at once and uploading them as I get them done. It's just more manageable this way, though I still prefer the idea of having them all available at the same time for some reason. Bah. Expect videos soon. Also- something I noticed with this tourney inparticular (and this is the first time it's happened) is that every time someone resets the Xbox, the audio gets more and more out of sync. The only thing I can guess might be the problem is the T.V. in combination with the recording setup, though I don't have any way of making sure. It's not as big of a deal since videos are more manageable on my mom's laptop/iMovie, but it's still going to be extra work for whenever someone turns the Xbox off/on. I understand that some of you guys use converters that require they be connected before the Xbox is started up, though, so all I ask is that whenever the Xbox needs to be reset for whatever reason, that I'm informed so I can stop and start recording accordingly. Thanks guys.
Cyner Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 It's cool to post here again right? Well after many months of just not playing BB and then being confounded by the CS2 changes, I decided to get back in and switch mains from Jin, to Hakumen. So when's your next tournament?
Jackie Chandler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 It's cool to post here again right? Well after many months of just not playing BB and then being confounded by the CS2 changes, I decided to get back in and switch mains from Jin, to Hakumen. So when's your next tournament? 1. Yeah, people should start moving back to this thread from the MWC thread soon enough. 2. Awesome! Welcome back to the BB scene. 3. Damn that's a ballsy main change. 4. MTN is always the last Saturday of the month, so... *Checks calender* It should be July 30th. Hope to see you there. :]
Milln Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Welcome back Cyner, and welcome back everyone else to the MTNG thread, you have another Memphis buddy so you should have some practice, man. First post has been updated, please observe any and all changes. Accepting Event Roster Edit requests to remove or add games from/to the list.
Jackie Chandler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I feel like a Mystery Game every month would be a good addition to the roster. Samurai Kirby seemed like a huge success after all. It wouldn't have to be anything extravagant to get people hyped, and the possibilities are endless. That's just an idea though. The only other games I could think of adding to the roster are AH3 and/or Suguri, but I'm sure those have both already crossed your mind. And just a small note/correction regarding the MvC3 rules. The Zero glitch has been removed, so that part of the rules should probably be removed. Also, you may want to check around, but I *think* the DHC glitch is generally accepted in the tourney scene. Can anyone who knows about Marvel on that level (Doromac, Astaroth, Naimat) clarify?
Astaroth136 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Even though it's called a DHC glitch, it is accepted in tournaments. While it gives some teams advantages, it doesn't make them broken.
Cyner Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Who's out here in Memfrica with me to practice some BB? Also Haku is quite a bit more difficult than I originally imagined. Gonna stick with him though, fun character to play. I've been working on making a team that can utilize the DHC glitch using Amaterasu but I haven't settled on anything and my current team is Zero/Dormmamu/Amaterasu

I've been working on making a team that can utilize the DHC glitch using Amaterasu but I haven't settled on anything and my current team is Zero/Dormmamu/Amaterasu LOL. The funny thing is that Azure Phoenix JUST posted in the MWC thread yesterday asking if there was anybody in Memphis to practice BB with. Get at him about it. Yeah, Hakumen was hard to use in both CT and CSI, but now he justseems... Much more high-risk low-reward. He's still viable, and in the hands of someone with good reflexes to use his Drive with, he can be godly. Just be patient with him and you can do fine. :] As for the MvC team, I'll let the more practiced give you advice on that, haha.
Astaroth136 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I've been working on making a team that can utilize the DHC glitch using Amaterasu but I haven't settled on anything and my current team is Zero/Dormmamu/Amaterasu Is your team in that specific order? I would recommend Zero/Am/Dorm. Dormammu is an awesome anchor. What you'll run into with that team though is the fact that your first two characters have extremely low health. As a result, you eat two mixups and you've almost lost the match.
Jackie Chandler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Oh yeah. I know this is completely off topic, but I was talking with a few of you at MWC about the Australian cover art for Continuum Shift, and I never got to show you guys. In case you guys were still curious... There you go.
Jackie Chandler Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Tsubaki's hands are weiiiirrrrrd I don't think you noticed their faces.
Cyner Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 @Jackie Just looked at Azure's post, I only have the xbox but I'll message him and see what we can do. I see what you mean by high risk low reward and Haku's setups/combos require really precise timing(compared to Jin's) but I'm used to both high risk - low reward and precise timing, I play Link in Melee. Tomorrow I'll work on Haku's 7th challenge which after watching seems both very difficult and very awesome. @Astaroth Yeah that's my team order, even in 2nd spot Dorm is still my "anchor". There are many times when he's in for the DHC and then out again. and him being second means that even if he takes some damage with his higher health at least he might survive to regen it. Overall the team works decently but I really need to work on getting better with both Zero and Dorm, I only know basic combos for each but my Ammy is pretty good. She's my favorite character in the game. Edit: Poor tsubaki in that art. she got destroyed
