No need to focus on AE, as it's getting patched soon. MK is MK. 3rd Strike will be out in 2 weeks, so you might as well pick that up.

Im not picking up 3rd strike. Patches in SFIV dont drastically change the playstyle or even combos a character can do, so playing AE is still worthwhile not to mention bigger community etc. MK is actually a lot of fun.

While they don't change playstyle, they can change combos a bit. I was more leaning toward the fact that you could pick a character up that may get random/unnecessary nerfs in the upcoming patch. Plus, it's likely that the big three will get major changes, making matchup experience less useful.

If the AE dlc ever goes down in price, I'll pick it up. I'm already spending $15 for 3rd Strike and $40 for UMvC3.

I just moved into a massive ass house. It's huge and nice. Long story short I can host about 20 people fairly comfortably for a Saturday and Sunday, have about 10 setups for games, and we can all party and play games, I can run the grill, keep us fed, etc. If this is something the community wants to do, I'll be happy to do my part. We can do whatever the fuck we want, really.

I miss gaming parties so big you hang out just as much as you play, and you play a few hundred matches. Could be sweet. Just sayin'

Milln : Stop being salty, BOY! Transitioning to a new character is always going to be hard, no getting around that. Just learn your match-ups and what you can and can't do against them and you'll be fine. No salty rage next time. (Events were still hype though)

Besides, look at the fifth line of the MTN OP. "I don't wanna hear any distance excuses." That means you've gotta make it back down occasionally (at least). The same goes to everyone who's moving out and going to college and other bullshit. I don't expect you guys to make it down every time, but makes plans to do so every once in a while. You'll always be a part of the MTN community.

YES! I would love this. Imma bring my vape.

@Astaroth: The core playstyle of the characters will be preserved. So yeah Yun will get changes in hitboxes and frames but dive kick is dive kick and it will still be part of his arsenal because it's a big part of what he is as a character. So learning how to deal with divekick now helps later and this can be said about every character. Yeah I might have to tweak my strategy a bit but the general matchup knowledge doesn't change. Ryu throws fireballs, Dudley throws overheads, rufus likes ex messiah, adon likes jaguar kicks, etc.

Like in Blazblue, Rachel got nerfed bad from CT to CS1 but I saw some really solid Rachels beat people in CS1 who played BB since CT because they still didn't learn how to get past her zoning. Rachel's damage wasn't even a factor because the other guy couldn't get past her zoning which in large part was unchanged. Learning how to deal with it in CT instead of Rage quitting would have benefited them in the long run.

Look at another character, Hakumen. He got probably some of the most drastic changes but his approach is still generally the same. You still have to learn to beat his J.C, how to space his 4C, how to bait his counters, etc.

Seems like the release date is fall- not the winter Famitsu originally reported. Loketests with the 19 characters will be held from August 11th - August 17th. And looking at this screenshot of the character select screen:

We can probably look forward to two new characters on top of Relius. My guesses are Jubei and Kokonoe, but I guess that Phantom, Torakaka, Linhua, and Saya are also possibilities.
