LastStarSaviour Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I haven't but what's going on with that?
Jackie Chandler Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I'm really disappointed we haven't seen any Astaroth in this tourney yet. :[
Milln Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 I haven't but what's going on with that? Well, it's an anime convention that has NIS America among their list of sponsors. Someone I met during my Brawl career of being one of the best Lucario players in the states is co-running it and asked me to give him advice and to help organize and run the tournaments and any other events he needs me for. Put simply, I'll be staff there and I figured I'd tell you guys about it in case you didn't already know. July 13-15 of 2012.
Jackie Chandler Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 So apparently, the semi-finals/finals for Marvel weren't streamed because of technical difficulties. Which saddens me greatly, because Astaroth was never even on the stream. ;_;
Seiki Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Looked like they were using a toaster to stream jesus. Quit downloading your pronz and get actual capturing device. plus no astaroth :/ I imagine the dbz narrarator's voice at the end of a climactic battle where it's like about to show us what happens but doesn't and you hear the end of the episode theme and the narrarator is like "Will Astaroth be in Winners finals? Losers finals? or maybe Grand Finals?! Stay tuned and find out on the next episode of dbz" and you are sad and say fuck you capitalism why cant i just watch all of this shit in one sitting instead of ads being shoved down my throat.
Jackie Chandler Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 That's almost spot-on, Naimat, except you left out the part where the show gets cancelled before the finale. I was really disappointed with the stream, but some things can't be helped, I suppose. Also, you were that labe guy or whatever in the stream, right? I couldn't tell, but it sounded like you, haha.
Seiki Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 No i was Naimat555 how did he sound like me? was he getting salty just watching the stream or something?
Jackie Chandler Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 XD Whoops. No, he just knew his stuff about MK9, and he replied to my comment about one of the icons looking like Star so I was assuming he was you. I don't know how I missed you on the viewer list. >_>;
LastStarSaviour Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I'm fcking super pissed about there being no Astaroth. Everyone who played were pretty free and the commentators were stupid. KoF was awesome though. Iabe is a very old friend of mine and possibly the best Haku player in America. He tried to make it down a few times but he never could. I'm still scared that that icon looked just like me. 0_0
Milln Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 All of a sudden, Astaroth busts in here with this massive troll face and is like "hay guise I played completely different people and went under an assumed name. HAWHAWHAWHAW gotcha!"
Papstr Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Naimat: what are you even going on about lol Jackie/star: For what its worth, its an Alabama stream. The spotlight was Alabama players. No need to get mad cuz our boy wasn't on there. It was still entertaining (least for me) despite that and the stream quality being low (though it was at 60fps i believe? which is kinda ironic since the stream visual quality was pretty bad) Milln: that would be the best thing ever.
Astaroth136 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) Guys, I'm sorry I made you watch that horrific stream. The tournament as a whole was a clusterfuck. Allow me to explain. First of all, I raped everyone in casual matches. I sat there beating 8-10 people, including Raekwon. At this point, the whole room was yelling about Hulk, because I was abusing the infinite on EVERY hit I landed. People were even chanting "RAPE YOU!" So that was fun. Second, all tournaments started two hours late. This is unacceptable, as people who travelled went home MUCH later than expected. Third, I placed third in the 3S tournament. It was a 5-man round round robin, and after I played my matches, the dude putting together the brackets walked up to Sara (the organizer that was kind enough to buy me an executive chair since I couldn't take my own) saying he forgot two people in the 3S tournament. It was then too late to make it a 7-man bracket. Fourth, Raekwon was left out of the KoF bracket, even though he probably would've won or placed second at least. Fifth, a strong AE player from Memphis was left out of the AE bracket. Luckily, he won the $100 raffle before leaving. Sixth, players were NOT seeded by skill and/or region. As a result, Raekwon and I, possibly the two strongest Marvel players there, were matched up in the first round. When we tried contesting it, the guy just kind of shrugged and said, "Just bad luck." This was bullshit, because one of the guys I rode with was switched three times in AE because he kept getting matched up against TN players. So, I lost my first match. This instantly knocked me out from being on the stream, because they only streamed winners brackets matches. I won my next match, then was paired up against PotatoSalad. He's a solid player, and beat me 2-1 in our matches. Taskmaster carried him because it's a hellacious matchup for Hulk. You guys can't fathom how hard it is to stand there and see 6 players in top 8 that you DOMINATED in casuals while you're out of the tournament. I wasn't really salty that I lost, but it was more anger towards the shoddy bracket work. Edited December 11, 2011 by Astaroth136
Milln Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 That's a truckload of bs. Two players contesting their match on a skill platform to a TO who doesn't budge. What a fool.
Jackie Chandler Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I normally try to be nice about this kind of thing, but that's bad and whoever's fault it is should feel bad. It's like someone tried to throw professionalism out the window in every form they possibly could. Even the stream's quality was terrible (there's no point in having names at the top if it's so pixelated you can't read them), and it kept going down every five seconds. That tournament was just unacceptable as a whole, and don't worry about us watching the stream- you were the one that had to put up with all the bullshit in person. I'm not sure I'd go back if I were you. Also, after reading that, does anyone have newfound appreciation for Milln?
Astaroth136 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Also, the bracket runner for Marvel also played in the tournament. If you're running a bracket of that size, there is no point in trying to play and run things simultaneously. It stalls the tournament. I know Milln does this, and it's fine in our smaller tournaments.
Papstr Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Also, after reading that, does anyone have newfound appreciation for Milln? Nope. (My appreciation is already sky high) Sucks that the tournament was a mess :/

I know Milln does this, and it's fine in our smaller tournaments. You'll notice I immediately stop once the bracket goes over 20, though. My name's in there last month, but I didn't play. I ocv people online in KOF with Mature and Ash. I lose as King cause online is currently bad and I can't tiger knee anything.
Seiki Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Sad to hear Astaroth. Although I wouldn't judge people based on casuals. Some people play differently in tournies; hard to tell until you play them in tourney. Also Doro, my Dante/fist/hawkeye team has a lot more synergy than i thought. For starters each one has an assist that benefits one another on the team so i can put on point any char in the team on point with two great assists backing him up. So for Dante he has fist's dragon kick which gets people off of him and hawkeye's triple arrows to help him get in. Plus he can do cross ups with triple arrow from afar and iron fist dragon kick up close. I can put hawkeye on point and use iron fist's dragon kick as a gtfo me move against rushdown chars and dante's jam session to hit people out of the air into dead arrow into combo. I can put iron fist on point with jam session forcing the opponent to stay grounded and triple arrows to help him get in. Also if i have two bars i get a free mixup with iron fist. Basically I THC with iron fist and dante. Iron fist recovers halfway through dante's million dollars so while they are blocking million dollars i get a free high low mixup. Since iron fist's fist of fury is like a bionic arm i can do the thc whenever i want so long as the opponent is in front of me against most of the cast. For those who have invincible supers or counter supers I can connect a blocked normal into thc. Dante loves meter and calling iron fist assist when he has the meter building chi is ridiculously cheap way to get meter. Or I can use the meter building chi with iron fist on point as a battery for dante and hawkeye. Even if iron fist doesn't open up the opponent just blocking his normals builds tons of meter for him. A problem with this team though is that most dhc's aren't safe and iron fist as anchor sucks.
Astaroth136 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Looks like a solid team to me, Naimat. Not only is that Iron Fist assist a gtfo-me assist, it's also a great combo extender. Dante is still decent, and Hawkeye's just cheap. lol
LastStarSaviour Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Damn, i'm feeling the effects of a few months without MTNs. I want to play some fckin fighters with you nigs, get-togethers need to happen. I need to fight you people! Also, Andy/Mai/Yuri team is love.
Jackie Chandler Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Damn KoF is fun. I can't wait to be done with this semester so I can give it the time it deserves. There are so many characters I like, but I think I've narrowed the characters I'm interested in playing down to Athena/Kyo/K'/King/Yuri/Kensou/Kula/Ryo/Elisabeth. Which means, according to Naimat logic, whichever ones are the three easiest to play will be the ones I main. :P

Seiki Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 K'/Kula/Kyo was probably one of if not the best team on the arcade version. they are really easy to play and have abusable moves so that's probably your team chandler. Also Yuri Elisabeth King were all used the most at NEC last week so that's a hint of how the tier list is shaping up to be...so yeah. Lol im loving my team of billy kane/kensou/Kim. Kim with 3 meter and full drive meter = dead character. billy kane's 6A is like arcade version of kula's spin kick special. It's so safe and so abusable. He's the only char that can play footsies without having to stick out his hurtbox since he pokes you with a stick. Kensou has a 1 frame command grab super...and can dash behind his fireball...My team is broken.
Astaroth136 Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 YOU ALL BETTER MAKE IT THIS SATURDAY OR JANUARY 9TH TO THE GG KOF TOURNAMENTS!!!
