LastStarSaviour Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Lawls, Middy I thought we already established that your threat level dropped traumatically since you can't play top tier Makoto. Unless you plan to overcome this and actually stay with Litchi or Rachel (I still believe Rachel is S-tier in CS2, after all, she is CS1 Bang) and learn match-ups rather than instant kills.
Top_Cat Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I'm not really sure who I'm gonna stick with. I don't care if the character I pick isn't S tier as long as I feel like it's legit. I'm thinking tao, rachel, or litchi
LastStarSaviour Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I don't care if the character I pick isn't S tier SAY WHAT?! Lol nah, but for realz though I like your Tao a lot.
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Aww crap, well as of today i'm going to start tackling that which will be the most grueling task ever in KoF aside from combo labs. That match-up lab-work *Sighs*
Jackie Chandler Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hey guys, Continuum Shift Extend just got a confirmed release date for February 14th on all consoles for the U.S. This links confirms it, and shows a real-life Jubei doll that I covet greatly.
Jackie Chandler Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Oh, and it looks like they took a page from your book and put Mystery Games in that list, Milln. Lol.
Seiki Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 40 dollars isnt worth the added storylines and oh yeah buying valk makoto and platinum AGAIN. p.s. the balance changes were free for CS2 why couldn't they just make the new content DLC? God I'm going to cringe when I hand the cashier my 40 dollars. Atleast ultimate came with 12 new characters and im not buying any of them again. Such bullshit. YEAH I SAID IT CHANDLER! EVEN CAPCOM ISN'T THAT EVIL!...
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) You don't have to buy Valk, Mak and Platinum over again. I could've sworn they came automatically unlocked along with Mu-12 and Relius? Also, when you think about it from a marketing perspective coming out with a new disc was the appropriate step to take in my opinion. After all, we're getting a few new game modes, rebalances, plus some new online features such as tournament and team battles. Plus, when you think about it they actually needed a new disc. Not to make money but rather for the fact that CS disc is pretty ancient and otherwise harder to find if an entirely new wave a players want to buy Blazblue. This new game is not for us BB players that's had the game since CS1 but rather those who are coming into it completely new. The Saviour dropping some food for thought. EVEN CAPCOM ISN'T THAT EVIL!... They couldn't make Extend DLC because there weren't any placeholder files on the disk for Relius. He wasn't planned like Makoto, Valkenhayn and Platinum. But let's be honest- even if Aksys COULD have implemented Relius as DLC for the disk version of Continuum Shift, they wouldn't have. They're a business, and they need money to keep things going. Everyone received the CSII balance patch for free, which was awesome fanservice, and they didn't get anything in return for it. From a monetary perspective, they need another disk release for Blazblue to make a profit. Just keep in mind that it's not JUST Relius, balance changes, and four new storylines in Extend. There's also the new-and-improved-and-actually-kinda-worth-playing Legion 1.5, Abyss Mode (which is kinda like Guilty Gear's Survival Mode), and Unlimited Mars (which will probably replace Score Attack as the most frustrating challenge). Compare this to Accent Core, which didn't add anything new AT ALL besides balance changes IIRC. And at least Aksys hasn't announced a new Guilty Gear game, had fans make progress in completing a version of the game you could play, then cancel the whole thing altogether. :/

Naimat said buying them "again" in the sense of buying Extend with them on the disk after having bought them as DLC. You do raise a good point though. For people wanting to get into Blazblue, having two balance patches and four DLC characters (the latter of which they'd need to pay for) would complicate things and deter sales. Extend makes the medium easy for everyone, and when you really think about it, you buy the same characters all over again whenever you buy the latest iteration of a fighting game series.
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) @Jackie: Bundle that together with what i've said and we've got ourselves a good argument sir. Sorry Naimat, but CSEX is definitely worth the 40 dollars. Also, honestly I think Aksystem has been pretty kind to their fans thus far. It's just that it's time for a new crowd to get in the game. Edit: Ah, okay that's what he meant by buying them again. Edited December 14, 2011 by LastStarSaviour
Seiki Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 You don't need placeholders to add new content you can add placeholders as a patch. Most games designed now adays come with a lot of modifiable parts in the coding so they can go in and do whatever they want in the future. Yeah from the marketing standpoint its great to make a standalone. Get the suckers who already bought valk mak and plat to buy them again with the gimmick of saying 40 more dollars is worth a few storylines some of which were already in CS2 for psp and oh yeah abyss mode which was already in the psp version. AND HONESTLY I MEAN HONESTLY how long do you actually play those modes. really like you are going to play mars mode and abyss mode...What pisses me off the most is that the core aspect and the only reason why most of us are buying it is for the balance changes. That is ultimately what we want out of this not some gimmicky game types that you'll sit and play for 5mins. but its worth 40 dollars right? Atleast capcom gave the option of buying the hard disk or choosing to buy the dlc. Arcsys could choose to do both. THey could have made the balance patch a free patch (which isn't a problem since they did this before) and relius as payed dlc for those who already purchased valk mak and plat and only care for the versus aspect of bb and they could have made a stand alone disc for people who are new to the series. You cannot argue that it would be too much to do both because capcom did it. They are hurting their loyal consumer base by making them buy valk mak and plat again especially when a large part of the consumer base mainly play bb for the versus mode NOT for the subpar storyline that could be found in any generic jap rpg. They bundle it in a package and add in those gimmicky game modes so they can justify "hey it's not just reselling dlc and a patch we used to release as free content. here we added modified gametypes (from the psp) that you will spend an hour playing at the most but hey it's worth the extra 20 dollars??" I guess it's how much you feel your 40 dollars is worth to you. From judging based purely on the kind of content they are giving and the price. All they did was take stuff they had and added salt and pepper. It's just a real dickish way of charging us for the patch when they could have done both a free patch and a hard copy of the disc with all the dlc. I mean if all you wanted was the dlc chars and the balance patch it would be: balance patch is free cause they did that for cs2, and each dlc char is around 5-6 dollars so 24 dollars total. If 16 dollars is worth it to you for some additional stupid game modes and a few more generic jap rpg storylines thats cool i guess. I'm surprised you don't find this worse than capcom chandler. Maybe it's your bias, but atleast with AE i got 4 chars new to the series and a balance patch and it was 15 dollars. And with UMVC3 i get 12 new chars a balance patch, better netcoding, and heroes and heralds mode which hasn't existed in previous iterations unlike abyss and mars mode.
Seiki Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 oh and by the way if each of the umvc3 chars were dlc for the same price as arcsys does it would be: $60-$72 but...it was $40...
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) Naimat, if you think people would not get this game for the storyline, then you obviously haven't heard my story on how I ACCIDENTLY bought BlazBlue thinking it was a good J-RPG game and ended up joining the fighting game scene completely due to this very mistake. I'll repeat once again, this game is by no means meant for the CURRENT BB community, this game is paving a way to the newer generation of players and what they find attrative in a game, yes I do agree they could've given a free patch along with Relius patch alongside BBEX, but then those who are stuck on CS would not be able to branch over and play Extend. Also, I still play all the game modes including Story, so take that as you will. Edit: I'm stressing this because I think this is the most crucial element to this entire argument. THIS GAME WAS NOT MEANT FOR US!!! The fact that the BB fan-base exists is a good thing (because at least they know we'll buy it) but trying to expand their horizons to get more people other than us is the main goal. LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 DoublePostSaviour Mode: I never got to ask this because Naimat made me rage but, should I be taking the fact that Jubei has merchandise for Extend as a sign...
Seiki Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Yeah and if you read what i said i agree with standalone disc but also a free balance patch and relius as dlc FOR MOST OF US WHO ARE MAINLY INTERESTED IN THE VERSUS MODE. It's a smarter marketing strategy to appeal to new customers as well as catering to your loyal fan base. You aren't giving any incentive to your loyal fan base to remain loyal if you pull off a stunt like this where you basically bought most of everything that's coming on the disc already in either dlc or the psp version. And also it isn't just for the new players because marketing wise it's best to invest in an area where you are guaranteed revenue. As in focusing your investments on a loyal fan base who is guaranteed to buy the game, and when the loyal fan base are mainly people who are interested in the versus mode what better way to make them buy the game than to include what they want (the additions to versus mode) exclusively in a format where they have to pay 40 dollars to get. You don't see that as kind of dickish? Especially when they offered it in a cheaper and even free format before? If it really wasn't for us. If it was for new players what about us? Why aren't they being understanding for us the loyal base who have already spent money on stuff they are going to resell to us? Oh yeah because they just care about making money. Your bias is blinding you Star. Look at it objectively imagine it as something else not your beloved underaged blonde bitch.
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) What i'm saying is is that it would be STUPID to make a stand-alone disc and release Relius and a free patch as DLC. Once you do that you pretty much split up the community between those who have played the game for years and the new blood. HOW YOU ASK? Because you have the pros playing CS2 Plus and the new-blood playing Extend. They want everyone to be in a"mix" so to speak. That way, the rookies can have fun playing the game via more game modes and also possibly find more enjoyment in the game through high-level play (In other words, fighting us). I do agree that it would be smarter to do what the guaranteed fan-base wants but I believe that Aksystem has confidence that the current fans will buy the game regardless, I believe Jackie pointed out how they did this many times with Guilty Gear, we've already proven as fans that even if it aint new, give us some patches and we love you. Thus, they were simply willing to try something that would cator to new crowds. Don't talk about my gun-girl like that man. Especially when you're fawning over an ignorant, coming straight off the indian reservation-looking guy like Bang. Edited December 14, 2011 by LastStarSaviour
Top_Cat Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 They are right that all of us who are part of the competitive community are going to buy it anyway, regardless of how some of us may feel about the way the distribution of EX is being handled. While they're loyal customer base may hate having to pay $40 for just a balance patch and relius, we're still guaranteed revenue. They can only benefit by creating the possibility of new customers.
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 kokonoeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Why does anyone like Kokonoe? She's such a bitch. I'd rather have Nine above anyone else *drools* but i'll settle for Jubei as second place if nothing else. But Kokonoe, hecks naw (I swear I think she'll be another Tron).
Top_Cat Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I would be so devastated if kokonoe was a mecha character
LastStarSaviour Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I can already see the lunch-time reference supers, LOL.
