Papstr Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Buying P4U day one because its Persona and I love Persona 4. If only for the story mode. But if people play it then sure I'll body fools with mah waifu Chie.
Tophatmoffet Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) Mitsuru looks like exactly my kind of character. She has no matchups that are not in her favor and her normals are the best in the game. Literally all she has to do is fish for a jab. I may have to pick this up. Yup. That sounds like a good character to pick up. You wont be disappointed. In all honesty this game is looking really fun and I'm buying it no question, but it really needs some balance in the mitsuru department before it hits consoles. Even the supposed bottom tier has flipped. Some tier lists are claiming that teddie is S tier and I don't doubt them. Even the yukiko players say she isn't weak. They say all she needs is just a bit more mixup or something and she'll be fine. Elizabeth hitting arcades april 6th, dark labrys after her. If you're looking for P4U action, http://www.twitch.tv/jiyuna analyzes videos regularly. Edited March 23, 2012 by Tophatmoffet
Klein Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Walking into a broken character is more than fine by me, jussayin'
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Yosuke all day. Actually playing Persona 3 now. Never really liked the whole turn based rpg style, but Persona pulls it off with swag.
Milln Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 (edited) In this day and age, people say ****character has best normals in the game on Day 0. People "know all about a character" on Day 0. People get all their technology from other people for zero time spent in-game. All or this with the great holy phrase of "it's out in Japan" blowing their sails. And when something happens that negates their idea of the game, patches are called instead of developing the meta. And I sit here in my Chair of Cynicism and mutter that you're all fucking retarded under my breath. Edited March 23, 2012 by Milln
Seiki Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 To be fair Milln, In this day and age where we have youtube, and other kinds of social media, information spreads faster and meta games do develop faster compared to say 10, maybe even 5, years ago. Not to mention after like 15 years or so of fighting games the community has gained enough experience to know what to look out for in terms of what makes a character good etc. especially when it's fighting game veterans, like the "Japs". Most judgments made in the first month or so for games nowadays don't drastically change over the game's life span because of this. You may complain about patches being too sudden but i think it's fair to say that fighting games today are more balanced because of them compared to when they weren't patched.
Jackie Chandler Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 And when something happens that negates their idea of the game, patches are called instead of developing the meta. I didn't know we were talking about Mass Effect 3.
Milln Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 I didn't know we were talking about Mass Effect 3. Are people asking for female Shepard patches?
LuminAbyss Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Dumb shit is always going to exist. Things are always going to be overlooked at first and found out later. Patches are a great idea, and people need to also develop the meta at the same time. I personally don't look up to any Japanese player, because I'd rather get destroyed and grow and discover on my own then try and emulate something I see. Hi my name is LuminAbyss and I play Ragna the Bloodedge.
Tophatmoffet Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 And I sit here in my Chair of Cynicism and mutter that you're all fucking retarded under my breath. Hey don't get all sassy now. The only thing I can do shy of flying to japan and playing it is investigate the current meta. The information I have is conclusive enough to agree with day 0 japan - mitsuru is S+.
Grimstar Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I like patches when necessary, but I'm kind of on the whole "Sentinel nerfed day one? THE FUCK!?" side of that argument generally. Patching out infinites and shit day one? Go for it. Patching a broken character like Yun after a good period of time? Go for it.
Seiki Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Chie is dumb. She is up der wit mitsuru and naoto. Akihiko's bang color palette is so awesome.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) I'm more worried about Naoto and Labrys. Edited March 24, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
LastStarSaviour Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 A character's tier position doesn't necesarily mean good matchups. Mitsuru's tools are indeed good, but she still doesn't have what's required to deal with a lot of characters. She easily gets matches stolen from her by characters like Chie, Teddie, Aegis, and Naoto. Her best matchups from what i've seen and understand would have to be Narukami, Akihiko, and sometimes Teddie (Only if you can get in on him). I'd have to say maybe mid-A, but definitely not S. Again, this is coming from someone who's seen over a 100+ matches with her.

Seiki Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I don't see an S tier in Persona. There isn't that one character that completely butt rapes everyone or has majority favored matches.
Papstr Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Who cares about letters. Hit the other guy and win.
LastStarSaviour Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I'd have to say screw tier lists for P4U myself, the game has been evolving at such a crazy pace I'd honestly say having one is pointless. I remember seeing Narukami getting bodied the first few months and saying to myself "Dang, stay low-tier Narukami" then about a month later and people really started using him. Unblockable set-ups and full-screen combos, needless to say my mind was blown after seeing this.

Volpe-de-Glacio Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Nevermind. Elizabeth +Thanatos = instant main. She's goin to make Teddie and Naoto look B tier.
