Never once touched Guilty Gear but I'm gonna mess with it. I was gonna learn either Chipp or May but my girlfriend is begging me to play Testament so... I'm playing Testament.

@All who showed up at Kaos Theory: Thanks for coming, it was a lot of fun.

I am so trash right now at Guilty Gear, the only thing i've retained in my fingers over the years is how to use one move. his worst normal.

I feel like a dummy having to be coached on something I already know.

Sigh... I'll get better; back to what I was years ago and improve further so I can actually hang with you guys now.

In a single night I think I made every person in Cookeville hate me. Faust 4 lief.

You have no idea how happy I am to be a part of this.

Kaos Theory was awesome, if I ever get the chance, I will come back.

Testament is bullshit, punishes me for teching a Guilty Gear grab, he should feel bad.

Milln, when you prepare, I challenge you to a sexual favor FT10.

Sol is amazing. Why have I never played a shoto before? Papstr and I had the absolute best mirrors of all time last night.

I will never give in to your wacky gimmicks and giant hitboxes. It's only a matter of time...

Shoutouts to Bane for a bigger avatar. Sol is awesome. Guilty Gear is awesome. Got a 3 clean hit SW combo yesterday. Felt amazing.

We'll see you tonight, then, yeah?

Do you guys have regular nights that you're down there? I'm a musician so my schedule is kind of up in the air, but if I know which nights y'all will be there, I can avoid scheduling things for those times so I can come out. I've been wanting to get in on some of this stuff for awhile now, but haven't really had the time until recently.

Maybe you and I will have to have some casuals in GG sometime. I got into the game a little over a year ago, but have never played against anyone else who actually WANTED to play. :vbang:

Yep! There's two weeklies.

One at Game Galaxy Arcade on Tuesdays 4pm to 10pm. Costs six bucks, and offers unlimited play on the four to seven setups that usually feature Street Fighter, Tekken Tag 2, Persona, Kof, Marvel, really whatever anyone brings and free play on the arcade machines around. It's a great place with a long standing tradition for us. This is where have hosted our tournaments for two years, officially, three years unofficially.

And the other at Kaos Theory on Fridays from 3pm to 3am. Friday/Saturday is Airdasher Day there and they offer up to 20 setups, GOOD food available for purchase, soda, vitamin water, energy drinks, beer, a 25" projection screen, a stream, pool, air hockey, ping pong, and a sweet atmosphere. Costs vary per hour(s), OR, you can do 10 bucks gets you unlimited play for all fighting games until close.

Most of the people in this thread never make it out, but last night was, I consider, a success so hopefully we'll get more Fridays going on at Kaos Theory and level everyone up. Goodness knows we need it cause Gear is hard. I would really like to see more of us show up to these weeklies, more often and I think Kaos Theory would be a good step in the right direction. I talked about Kaos Theory in a previous post.

Edit: @Everyone: I updated the opening post. It look okay?

Awesome. Does Game Galaxy still have that Guilty Gear machine? Its been ages since Ive been there. Tuesdays are probably better for me at least for the next couple weeks, though I know I have to get together with someone this coming Tuesday and may not be done with that in time. After that first weekend in November I'll be able to come out more, and hopefully GG will have dropped on PSN so I can practice with my stick. Do you guys have other games that are staples of these nights as well as GG?

EDIT: Wow, those pics of Kaos look pretty awesome! How long has that place been open? They have something like that in Franklin too, although I think it's more of a store.

No, I think that GG board is either at the Huntsville location or in storage.

Staples of GG are as I described, though any arcade machine there is available.

Guilty Gear comes out on PSN early November.

Kaos Theory has been open for a few weeks.

Ah okay. That cab always ate my change anyway when I'd go to Game Galaxy in the mall. I think the guy working there used to get pissed cuz I'd always have to ask him to help me get the 75 cents (!!) out of the machine. xD

Cool cool. Guess I'll have to hit up my PS2/PSP copies of GG and practice there. I'll hit you up when I plan on coming out to one of the events.

To Milln and anyone else who is frustrated with GG because it's hard.

Rightfully so. It's hard game. Don't give up.

Don't watch JP vids too much, or play 5x as much as you do theory fighter, at least.

The re-release is surreal for me. A storm is brewing.

I get off work at 6 tomorrow. I'll be at Khaos Theory for Gear or KOF.

We missed you! Did you get held up?

Everything is on free to play, anyway. There's no more issues with coin mechs nomming change. Definitely plan so that you can come out to these. They're a blast every time.

Lemme back up a bit. I'm not mad at Guilty Gear, i'm upset at myself for how little I retained from days of ye olde and I wasn't astonishing back then, either.

Now that I think again, maybe it's better that I don't remember anything. I have a much, much different mindset on how I play fighters nowadays so I can only be better for it.

How could anyone be mad at Gear? <--- Sigworthy quote.

I just played from like... 7:30pm to 3am solely Persona, Gear, and watching Tekken/Street Fighter at Kaos Theory. It drew in some legitimate numbers and I met yet another Persona player from the area. For Persona I practiced my silly mixups and shenanigans and they feel a bit better. I know what I have to work on. For Gear, I (re)figured out the corner throw HS, D x2 combo and figured out some ways I can waste meter for laughs instead of blowing it all on Fafnir. The Revival of Milln's Order-Sol cometh. Since nobody money-matched Tad for $50 in a first to ten, I'LL EFFING DO IT. I OWE THAT MOFO FROM KUMITE AT LA QUINTA INN, ANYWAY. *big thumbs up*

But seriously, Dark Tad Rising. I will sponsor this man if he'll win every Gear tournament. MTNG | Alphakami , imo.

Everyone else: Definitely take what Tad said to heart. It is a hard game, we can't drill that into your heads enough. Don't watch videos. Don't theory craft. Don't give up. Effing actually play the game.

Posted (edited)

Theory-craft can be a valid tool when used in conjunction with actual match experience or some stupid shit like that. . . w/e. Not to start a debate; we all have our own methods. I just don't think he was rejecting theory craft so much saying we need to make sure we have a lot of experience to back it up. Or something. I don't even. blegh.

At GG, I don't even know who to play, man. I'm split between Testament and Faust at the moment.

In other news . . . I've found Jo- Milln's Polish uncle.

Sorry Milln I was going to go but I ended up working late and felt too tired to make the drive to the boro and play. How many people showed up to play fighting games?

Play both!

Also holy crap that looks very similar to me! How'd you find that!

Quite a few! 4+ for TTT2, 4+ for Persona, 4+ for Gear, and maybe 8 or so for Street Fighter, everyone mingling and watching each other's games.

It's Mark Brendanawicz from Parks & Recreation. It's pretty eerie because at some angles it's like I'm seeing you on tv.

Sweet. Week after next my schedule clears up a bit so I'll have time to get out there then! :)

I'm kinda with you. I've been a Ky player mainly but also messed around with Chipp, Testament, & I-no and I've been thinking about picking one of those three back up. Choices choices...

But when I come down to GG or Kaos I'll have to keep that pic in mind so I know who to look out for. xD
