Hello there, I'm here today to present all of you a fresh new project involving Guilty Gear from Nikki (also known as SLeon), a player from Brazil. Alright, now to explain what this is about:

Gear Lab is a small project to create short GG videos to help promoting GG and try to show some different combos or small curiosities about the game.

So, what's in this project? Basically, combos, setups and some stuff that you usually don't see in matches. Not all of them will be useful in real matches, think of it more like a Combo Movie stuff. I want to do some basics from time to time though, but I don't think it'll be the main point.

Why not a Combo Movie then? Well...I don't have enough time to create a combo Movie, since it involves a lot of editing, planning, re-recordings... it's pretty time-consuming. But I always wanted to record a few things to show people about how wide the GG mechanics are, or just to show some curiosities to other players. So recording short videos like these was the solution.

All of the combos are performed, recorded and uploaded by Nikki. All of the combo descriptions below are also written by him. I'll be updating it every monday/thursday unless something unexpected happens.

I hope you guys enjoy it! Feedback and suggestions are more than welcome too!

[Gear Lab #7: May]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJIe0QL3M5Y

(vs. Bridget, midscreen)

- 63214K, 41236P/HS, [2]8S, 5P, [2]8HS, [4]6HS~6D, IAD j.S, j.HS, land [2]8HS (cross-up), [2]8S FRC, c.S, 236236S

Combo Movie stuff, except by the fact that top players like Kedako, Efute or Nununenu can do those charges while sleeping.

The combo ends in 236236S because it causes knockdown, but it's possible to continue the loop or nail any other overdrive there.

Sorry but there's no audio this time - the video's original audio was too bad and I had to change it for May's music.

Next video will be... Gear Lab #8: Johnny!

[Gear Lab #6: Eddie "unblockable reset"]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrMHdMfInZM&feature=player_embedded

(vs. Dizzy, crouching)

- 236HS, dash 5P, c.S, JC~]K[, 5P, c.S, JC~]K[, 5P, 5K, JC~]K[, 5P, c.S, 2D, ]HS[... j.HS (unblockable), dash c.S, step back 6P, 22S, 6K (reset), 214S FRC, hj.K, hj.S, hj.HS, hj.236236S

There's a way to perform an unblockable with 22S and 6K that was first shown in one of Jake's videos iirc, so I already knew that there was enough time to hit both moves at the same time. While I was searching for a way to do it, I noticed that some characters aren't hit by 22S during Shadow Hole if done in the correct distance, but if Eddie pushes the oponent or hits a move, he's thrown into 22S. Therefore, it is possible to use 22S and follow it with a 6K (or dash 6K) for a unblockable reset!

However, being it a reset, it means it's possible for the opponent to use a reversal. And of course, the setup is impractical because you can profit much more from doing the usual {6P 3x, 5HS, 22S, 22HS~j.S unblockable...}, but oh well.

I don't think anyone could notice it, but you must move Mini-Eddie constantly on each Mawaru for the combo to work. After the first one, you'd rather have him far away from the opponent, making it easier to confirm both hits. After the second Mawaru, you should move him forward, otherwise the third Mawaru won't confirm both hits. After the third one, you just move him below the opponent to follow it up with Shadow Hole.

[Gear Lab #5: Anji by Landstalker]

(vs. Slayer, next to corner)

- GP.K, IAD j.214P RC, land 236HS, c.S, 623HS, 236S~S RC, 236HS~HS

This combo was supposed to be in "GGBR Vol.2" Combo Movie, but since he sent me more than one Anji Combo, the other one was chosen. So, this video now is part of Gear Lab series!

The last Nagiha (236S~S) must be RC'd because the following Fuujin won't be timed right if you FRC instead. This combo was done on Slayer, but I believe it can be done on everyone else.

[Gear Lab #4: Dizzy "unblockable"]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnOhCUG-leU

(vs. Testament, corner)

- Throw, {214P~P, 632146S FRC, dash Taunt (unblockable)}, (P fish), c.S, 5HS, 236HS FRC, dash c.S, f.S, 5HS, 236HS

{} = on block

I don't feel like Dizzy has many "fancy" combos, usually it becomes an Ice Spike Loop or a Bubble Loop. Most of her attacks are techable or have a long start-up/recovery, limiting the combos quite a bit.

But... her okizeme/pressure setups are really cool. So I was trying to show a way to hit her Taunt, which is unblockable and causes 10 damage!

The problem is, usually her projectiles doesn't have enough block stun to hit the Taunt, so I went with a 632146S FRC. There's a small window for reversal before the Taunt hits (after the fish's 3rd bite), but well... I hope the opponent will be thinking "wtf?" at the moment and won't see it. At least for the first time.

The problem is... the Taunt doesn't hit crouching opponents. The opponent will escape this by simply crouching the Taunt.

So, this is not an unblockable, and more like a mix-up. You can use 5D instead to go for an Impossible Dust if the opponent is crouching, since it's a bit hard for the opponent to react on the 5D with all the stuff going on but... you just spent 75% tension. lol

[Gear Lab #3: Robo-Ky "Heat combo"]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hW_fRpfBVcE

(vs. Potemkin, midscreen, 80コ Heat)

- 5HS FRC, 236S, dash c.S, 5HS FRC, 236S, IAD j.S, delay j.HS, land 5D

I just wanted to show a way to combo 236S with the opponent on ground without CH and show that you can combo j.HS into 5D.

The only move that allowed to combo 236S after it was 5HS with 80+ Heat, the timing is a bit strict but doable... the second one is a bit tricky because you have to delay the c.S so the first missile will be gone for you to use another 236S in combo.

And yeah, I exploded after the 5D, funny huh?

... nah, terrible I say.

There are some ways to avoid overheating, by using {6HS FRC} during the ground part, or trying to put a j.236D after the IAD, but they were kinda messing with the combo. The 6HS sometimes would put Robo-Ky under 80コC, and the j.236D would push Robo-Ky too far for the 5D to connect.

The weird part is... the 5D should actually hit because it's not THAT far, but somehow {j.HS, 5D} doesn't seem to combo if Robo-Ky lands too far. Or my execution was pretty bad at the day.

[Gear Lab #2: Sol "Sidewinder"]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0XVtM-hoqs

(vs. Slayer, midscreen)

- 2D CH, 236P, TK j.236K FRC, j.236HS* (cross-up), 41236D*, 214S*, dash j.D, delay j.236HS*, land j.S, j.236HS*, land hj.S, hj.HS, hj.623S RC, hj.236HS*

I picked Sol because I just wanted Sol and Ky to be the first two in Gear Lab, so maybe I didn't put enough effort in trying to find something new/different and just went for a show-off combo. Also, there's so much Sol material on YT and Nico, plus Kusoru/JAKE, that makes Sol's videos quite hard to pull off.

Well, the tricky part is the backwards Sidewinder, since it's a bit rare to happen - usually the Sidewinder will send Slayer flying towards, but the combo works whichever side he goes.

[Gear Lab #1: Ky "OTG"]

Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZVj22Sdi5w

(vs. Dizzy, corner, opponent in the air, 100% tension)

- 6HS CH, JC j.214D, 222HS, 236236P, 6HS, 236D~214D, 5P, c.S, 2HS, 623HS~HS, 222HS

I think I saw the {j.214D, 222D} thing for the first time on a FinalShowdown's Ky CV, so I wanted to try it out a bit and see what I could do.

The 2コ hit of j.214D hits quite late on Dizzy, allowing for Ky to recover from the 222D and do a lot of things, I just decided to hit a Sacred Edge. I did want to try to hit more 222D's in the same combo though... guess I'll try harder next time. :3

Thread updated! New video up.

[Gear Lab #6: Eddie "unblockable reset"]

(vs. Dizzy, crouching)

- 236HS, dash 5P, c.S, JC~]K[, 5P, c.S, JC~]K[, 5P, 5K, JC~]K[, 5P, c.S, 2D, ]HS[... j.HS (unblockable), dash c.S, step back 6P, 22S, 6K (reset), 214S FRC, hj.K, hj.S, hj.HS, hj.236236S

Wow, some can be impractical but still really cool. Do u have any Chipp one, sir :D

Not yet, but he'll do it eventually.

Lol, I didn't even know that Dizzy's taunt can hit.

I know right.

[Gear Lab #7: May]

Dizzy unblockable actually works better as a meaty IMO. With the right voice set it works on Anji and pot just do

236H FRC dash in taunt.

Anji has such a large rising hitbox he can't dodge it (unless with FD) and pot is just too large. It's slightly closer to "true" unblockables.
