Zeron_X25 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Great guide dusty. I'm a relatively experienced Hazama player and can back up a lot of what you said here. I learned quite a few new things as well. Options with j.4D I have to start using more. To CH people rushing in, and to fly towards my opponents. Thanks for the great guide and advice. I'd be interested in writing a mid-screen/corner mix up guide for Hazama one of these days. Partially because I'm interested to learn more about Hazama's pressure mid-screen. And I like Buppa's offensive pressure based style, and would readily draw inspiration for my own Hazama if possible. One advice though. Stop rage bursting and stop mashing in your opponent's blockstring. Especially Tager because it will get you 360'd/720'd a lot and Hazama lacks a good DP to counter that.
Shazam Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Rage bursting is pretty dumb in Blazblue. You only get TWO BURSTS. I cannot fathom how some people choose to burst at the beginning of a match. Blockstrings are meant for IB, not mashing.
Zeron_X25 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Nah, you save those for when you need them. No. Don't repeat that shit.
Fluck Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Bursting in the beginning is fine if you really don't want to lose vs momentum. VS Carl is a good example.
Zeron_X25 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Bursting an ID is bad. Ragna doesn't even gain much from it anymore. You shouldn't waste a burst like that.
Eclipse Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I rage burst to avoid the momentum people gain on me, since once I get in, I try to pressure them until the end of the match, and mix them up with mind games. But to be honest, it's become a bad habit that I should kick now. I don't think I mash too much on wakeup, or during combos, since I try to time my attacks correctly. I'll kick that habit in a week or two though, just have to resist the temptation to burst.
Zeron_X25 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 It really isn't about momentum in that sort of situation because the opponent isn't gaining momentum. They're just stopping yours. And for a character that has better neutral than most of the cast, it's crucial not to rage burst.
Eclipse Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 You do lose more often, so let's not get too arrogant. Point taken about rage bursting though. I'm having difficulty breaking the habit, but I'll definitely work on it, thanks.
Hirako Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Here's something that I have been doing often lately. When doing block strings I usually through a 2D~B(immediately), then follow it with 2B since you'll be back on the ground again. I've used it quite a few times, yes its a high risk move but its great when it works!

Eclipse Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 If it has nothing to do with it, why did you bother responding with a post with the sole purpose of saying "I don't". :/ Regardless, we're all working our way up there and improving, which is good. I did much better today, and I'm working on those frame traps.
Dacidbro Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Since the losing more or not is in fact entirely irrelevant, I would agree with Zeron. Using a burst to prevent 1kish and a knockdown is very bad compared to just teching and gold bursting or saving it for a blood kain combo.

Everyone bursts when I go BK combo on them Shit is ridiculous. It's not like it does more damage than Hazama's 50 meter BnB. I need to start baiting bursts by doing BK combos.
Dacidbro Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 The difference is BK is Ragna's only damage mid screen, and when you use the meter you have not received any damage yet. By the time you can burst in Hazama's meter combos, you have already taken 3-4k.

mikenapalm Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I'd like to add a bit of chain options as well here. If your opponent runs under your chain while you J5D. Do C follow up and quickly J6D/ J4D. The C follow up will stop your momentum as well as turn you around in one motion so you can punish them for trying to knock you out of the air. Jump late air backdash J5D. After watching some match videos against Zidane, I saw him doing this a lot. Covers an awesome space that will catch people running or jumping as well as move you back from their advances. J6DD short chain will fling you across the screen in almost a straight line. In the words of Zidane "super airdash" useful for getting in or out of situations. J4DD short chain will move you forward and down to the ground. Super fast. Throw out a JB and you just hit them. J2DC if you went to stop momentum with J2D and find your opponent under you, use this to bait immediate attempts to swat you out of the sky and score a troll cross up with J2C. Against Tager: J5DD, dj J5DD, J5DD, J5DD, J5DD... Really not practical at all with the way ouroboros stock changed, but still so much fun. Aim for his head and fly over it then double jump to turn around(if you used super Jump then the double jump isn't needed) and shoot another J5D. Rinse and repeat until they get hit in frustration or try to IB and air throw you out.
