The Original Idea was to use the Bookmark and pins as Prizes, If we can sell some of the surplus to compensate for the cost then why not ? You just keep repeating what have been discussed way back.

I needed to repeat what i have been typing, like right now, is because the point doesn't seem to come across. And i remember that i said i will email Arc Sys rin regarding that when we were in megamall, so i did. And we have a reply.

I am stating a recommendation because its really upto the person in charge of this whether he/she pursues selling excess keychains or not GIVEN THIS SITUATION. Di ko siya call kasi di ako part dun sa side events. My role for the pre-event is to act as a correspondence to Ozine and other organizations involved. If said person wants to go with selling it, then go. If not, then dont.

Up to you guys, check nalang the links in case may mahanapan kayong butasjlp-law and wiki (admittedly yung jlp mas text based siya, but graphic work follows the same rules as well).

As for the 'just because I'm in a convention'. To begin with, bawal yun. Even Komikon has rules regarding selling work that doesnt belong to them (since summer 2008 i think, Here is a copy of their rules). Kaya nakakalusot si CSCentral is because of distribution rights, pero pede parin siyang samapahan ng kaso ng piracy ng mga publishers. They arent doing it because its costly to do it, especially sa ibang bansa pa sila (mas madali pag first world country magsampa). US based companies (Marvel, DC, Disney) are very particualr about their copyright work. Kaya bihira ka makakakita ng fan-based work. Jap companies are more lenient though (comiket, et al) because they know that its ambient advertising for them. Iba iba yan kada kumpanya.

Recommendation ko ay use it only for prizes. So far we can charge for side events like that arcade station for free (unless Ozine decides to charge us all of a sudden). And if they do decide to charge us, we'll still profit from the "No-wait" Arcade station since P5 kada game siya (100games = 500pesos) and I do think na even us community members will avail of this service as well. 100games is easily attainable if 2 rounds parin setting nya.

okay so here's the deal. they say money is the root of all evil and I do believe that's the case here.

on our artists side: Di tumatae ng pera ang mga artists. at para makagawa ng mga premyo, kelangan ng pera para sa materyales at sa pag proseso. di rin basta basta lumalabas nang parang bula ang mga "artwork" na iyon. dahil sa magiging malaki ang sakripisyo nila sa proyekto na to, marapat lang na kahit mabawi lahat ng gastos nila. mas makakagaan ng loob kung kikita rin sila ng kaunti kung posible sa dami ng ating malilikom.

dyan papasok ang malilikom nating salapi sa mga events naten. kung maaari lamang ay bigyan nalamang ng pambawi ng gastos ang mga artist dahil hindi naman pwede na lagi nalang galing sa sariling bulsa ang gastos para sa komunidad na ito. tulong tulong lang. Respeto narin sa isa't isa. Di dapat tayo nag dedesisyon mag isa. pwede naman kasing kumausap ng ibang tao bago gawin ang isang bagay.

Yes, you were right about "shirts" being a good benchmark and like what I stated in my previous post "keychain" was also part of "Blazblue related materials" but my point when I said that was you could have been more specific. You never said the reason why we wanted to do this or what exactly are booth was. Honestly, if I was Isako, my interpretation of your e-mail will be a plan to set up a booth "solely" for selling blazblue related materials which is not good for us because we're not getting anything back from you guys, right? so the obvious answer will be NO.

It all boils down to what the Ozine organizers would say. It's their con anyway.

Is there a link referring to the law Arc Sys is using for copy righting their products?

Haven't fully read what was on the three links duqs posted.

In retrospect, we don't really need to lean towards selling our artists product since our

main goal for making an appearance at Ozine is to spread the "love". Though it would be

a good source of income given that Ozine usually has about 400-600 attendees per day.

If worst comes to worst we will simply have to settle for giving the products as prizes or

freebies. Yes it sounds bad but the simple appreciation of ones work by those interested

would at least be "profit" to the artists in a way in the sense that "Not everything that

counts can be counted".

Summary:

We can still re-ask Arc Sys clearing any misunderstandings and also we should ask

those who would be managing Ozine this September because clearly both parties

will be affected by what we do (Arc Sys less).

P.S.

I'll go poke about the laws duqs posted later and see what we can work with.

Clearly they didn't specify which law we would be breaking with their copyright.

P.P.S.

If we could, it would be of great help to figure out what copyright they are

stating in their reply so we could find out if we would be indeed violating their copyright.
