I'm pretty sure he could have swapped it out with 6A itself or 5C->6C when closer to the wall A lot of those I think he could've actually combo'd off of but he went for the 5B->3C->214C route.

There is probably even a way to combo midscreen straight to the corner off some starters, Tsuji did so midscreen off a back grab. Yet their play now says that Tao is all that neutral oriented anymore. Okis, corner carries... 6C buff gives more opportunities pressure-wise.
