ThaMusli Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hello! Im a relatively new Tager player who recently went over to the power of science. Recently i've been playing Mu regularly and came here in hopes for some tips and tricks on the matchup.
Valthazeryus Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Usually what helps is if you try to rush her before she can get steins out. Once those come out, you will be dealing with hell for a bit. Get in with some charged b-sledges to try to bait her recovery frames when she thinks it's a chance to setup steins or if she does her DP because she miscounted your charge b-sledge. Just be wary of that DP. It's been a long time since I played this game...
Mucky Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Neutral: -Walk forward a lot -Superjump occasionally -B Sledge is not recommended if there is a stein in the space where Tager ends up after sledging (because it will explode and fuck you up) -Magnetized 2D can be nice -Hold onto your spark bolt Your pressure: -After GF, 360A beats backdash and 5A mash (but loses to DP and jumping) -IIRC, meaty 5A recovers quickly enough for you to block wakeup DP. -Use 2B>5B gatling on backdash/upback happy Mus -Avoid using 6A/5D/6C/slow stuff -5C>2D is risky Her pressure: -Be patient -Backdash j.2Cs and 6Bs -If she likes doing 5C>6C>63214C, IB the 5C and sledge the 6C -5C>63214C is safer than the above, but if she's magnetized you can 360A her out of the 63214C DISCLAIMER: I have not played this game in over a month.
Valthazeryus Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Also, your elbow drop will bait out a lot of her anti-airs. Just super jump above her, and she will always or mostly see these as free combos, so she will anti-air, and you just delay for a bit and do elbow. You can also check the Mu section of the forum to see what they complain is hard against Tagers and learn that way too.
ThaMusli Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Thanks for the fast replies. I definetly need to use 5b>2b more since the Mu's i play love abusing their backdash. Do you guys happen to know if you can gadget whiff>360B like you can vs kune?
Valthazeryus Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I'm not sure what that last part "vs Arakune" part means. If you mean the oki setup, then yes. It works on everybody. If I am understanding your question correctly.
Osuna Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Thanks for the fast replies. I definetly need to use 5b>2b more since the Mu's i play love abusing their backdash. Do you guys happen to know if you can gadget whiff>360B like you can vs kune? It'll nullify her back step, but strictly speaking they should have at least a few frames to jump any throws so it isn't a punish so much as a mixup reset. Same with lambda, but don't tell them that because they have a tendency to eat 360B every time. Of course if they don't quite reversal the backdash and you Do reversal the GF then it might become inescapable (especially if you are 720ing), but that's not a technically accurate expectation.
